Chapter 142: The Protagonist of the Era—Leonard!

As Alice placed her hand on the doorknob, she paused.

Inside St. Samuel's Cathedral, a man wearing a long trench coat and red gloves stepped over the threshold and entered the church.

This man had black hair and green eyes, his hair was disheveled, his features handsome, and his gait was casual and unrestrained, exuding a poet-like aura.

... Leonard.

Alice hadn't experienced such an uncontrollable premonition of the future in a long time. If she had to guess, perhaps fate believed she could handle it?

Alice was skeptical of this assumption, as she wasn't sure if Will Auceptin and Amon were within her capacity to manage.

No, Will Auceptin was a different matter—fate seemed to have placed separate bets on the two of them...

However, one thing was certain: if she encountered Leonard in the church, she would likely lose control of her emotions.

Unlike Old Neil, who wasn't very familiar with her, Leonard might recognize her—or at least become suspicious.

Letting Leonard know she was still alive wasn't a big deal; after all, she could be considered a favored one blessed by the goddess.

What Alice was truly worried about was the danger entangled around her, the uncontrollable fate.

She wasn't worried about Klein; it was hard to say who had more trouble between her and Klein, but Leonard...

Leonard probably didn't have any issues... right?

Thinking of Leonard confidently calling himself the "protagonist of the era," Alice suddenly felt less certain.

... To be fair, avenging a friend's death by striving to become stronger does sound like a protagonist's script, doesn't it?

But if he was so confident in being the protagonist, shouldn't he have a golden finger... I really want to see what it is.

Restless thoughts danced in Alice's mind for a moment before she forcibly suppressed them.

After mentally preparing herself, Alice still headed to the church.

She sat quietly with her eyes closed, praying. After reciting her prayers, Alice opened her eyes and noticed some dust on her monocle.

Alice took off the monocle and wiped the dust with a handkerchief. As she looked around the church, she saw Leonard in his trench coat and red gloves walking deeper into the church.

... Leonard.

Alice watched him walk away, slightly dazed, and slowly raised the cleaned monocle with her right hand.

When her hand reached her chest, Leonard seemed to sense her gaze and looked over in confusion.

Alice quickly lowered her head, pretending to be an ordinary girl attracted by his good looks—she had to admit, Leonard's face was sometimes useful.

She naturally gave up the idea of putting the monocle back on and casually tucked it away.

Leonard's puzzled gaze swept around before retracting, but Alice frowned as she watched his back.

Alice felt as if an unseen gaze was watching her, making her uncomfortable. She looked around but couldn't find the source.

When she turned back in confusion, Leonard's figure had disappeared, and the gaze on her was gone.

Alice blinked in bewilderment, but the observer had vanished. After pondering for a moment, Alice decided to go home.

She pushed open the door, returned to the living room first, and frowned as she took off the necklace she had named "Matilda," removed the "wealth accessory" that had somehow gone askew, and changed into comfortable home clothes.

"Brooches really do get crooked easily..." Alice muttered as she left the living room and entered the study.

She spread out drawing paper and, after a few strokes, irritably lifted her head.

Something in the room seemed out of place, making her subconsciously agitated. She looked around in confusion, finally focusing on the bottle of potion by the desk.

"Provocateur" potion.

Alice remembered—potions have a shelf life.

"But why didn't the bottle Amon gave me absorb the potion... Was he really planning to give it to me as a keepsake?"

Alice was greatly shocked.

Sequence potions are different from other potions; they don't lose their efficacy over time, but sequence potions can be absorbed by their containers.

The extraordinary items created in this way are somewhat similar to the characteristics left behind by out-of-control Beyonders—in other words, they are almost unusable.

Generally, within three or four days of preparing a sequence potion, you might find the container has turned into an extraordinary item...

Alice knew the church had methods to preserve high-sequence potions, which could probably be used for low-sequence ones too, but perhaps due to high costs, no one did it.

So... Amon, just how bored are you?!

Alice stared blankly at the potion in front of her.

Because the potion Amon gave her never expired, she had subconsciously ignored the fact that potions have a shelf life, and now...

After seriously contemplating for a moment, Alice picked up a pen and drew a chibi Amon face on the bottle.

... I wonder if this extraordinary item will curse when it fully forms?

That thought was oddly amusing...

Alice shook her head and decided to leave the potion in the living room to avoid letting it affect her mood.

Keeping it at a distance should be fine...

After placing the potion on the coffee table in the living room, Alice noticed a letter she had casually thrown there before leaving.

Oh, I haven't read what Bernadette wrote... Oh right, I need to remind her about Mr. A...

Is it really necessary?

Alice pursed her lips, picked up the letter, and returned to the study.

Bernadette's question was still simple: "What is the relationship between 'The Fool' and the 'True Creator'?"

Alice fell into deep thought.

What relationship? If the 'True Creator' found 'The Fool' Klein, wouldn't he send a saint with a divine envoy to capture him...

After pondering for a moment, Alice wrote: "The 'True Creator' values Mr. 'The Fool' very much."

—She wasn't lying; sending a saint to capture a Sequence 7 is the highest regard!

After successfully convincing herself, Alice performed the ritual to summon the messenger.

This time, she opened her spiritual vision in advance and held the letter tightly, trying to see Bernadette's messenger.

But it seemed to be of no use.

There was no feeling of the envelope being pulled, no sight of the messenger, just a cool breeze, and the letter in her hand disappeared.

"I want a special messenger like that too..." Alice muttered softly.

What Alice thought: Fate worried she would lose control of her emotions upon seeing Leonard.

The reality: Fate worried that Pallez would lose control of his emotions upon seeing Amon's monocle.

Pallez: Since when does Amon dare to come to the church to pray?
