56.66% Apocalypse - I Can See Through Everything / Chapter 51: The Hunter's Camp

Chapitre 51: The Hunter's Camp

"Yes, they're just sixteen years old, dancers like me!"

"Please, help save them, they're still so young!" Minako clutched at Slater's sleeve, deliberately rubbing her body against his leg.

"Sixteen? And dancers?" Hearing this, the eyes of the other male survivors also lit up. Having girls in the survivor camp, potentially sparking some romance—what a pleasant prospect! They now had a secure shelter.

With the supermarket secured, they were temporarily set for food and drink. The only thing missing now was women. If they had women to spice up life, the apocalypse wouldn't seem so daunting anymore.

Several men looked at Slater with inquiring eyes, some of the younger ones barely containing their eagerness to rush to the rescue.

"So... how many zombies are there in that alley?"

Slater cautiously asked. Recruiting attractive members was important, but not at the risk of their lives. If there were too many zombies, he would prefer to not intervene rather than risk his people's lives to save strangers. He maintained a cool head about this.

"Besides the two chasing me, there should be four or five more zombies inside!" Minako said anxiously.

"Four or five zombies? That's easy!"

"Yeah, the three of us can easily handle four or five zombies!"

"Right, let's have a few people continue tallying the supplies!"

"By the time we get back from the rescue, the supplies will be sorted, and it won't delay our return to camp!"

"We can kill two birds with one stone!"

A few of the younger survivors began to vigorously persuade Slater. After all, these individuals were in their adolescence. They had absolutely no resistance to the opposite sex, especially those who were somewhat attractive!

"Well... alright then!" Slater assessed the risk level and felt the situation was manageable.

"Edgar, Clem, you two come with me!"

"Everyone else, continue tallying the supplies and stay alert!"

"Be cautious not only of zombies but also of other survivors who might come to loot!" Slater instructed.

"Don't worry, the survivors we've met all want to join us!"

"And with our numbers, who would dare to rob us? They'd have to be crazy!" a young man joked with a laugh.

"Stay sharp, don't let your guard down!"

"It's the apocalypse now, people are desperate and will do anything when they can't find food," Slater warned seriously.

"Alright, alright, got it!"

"Don't worry, I guarantee the supplies will be intact when you get back!" the young man nodded with a smile.

After repeating his instructions a few more times, Slater, with two other survivors in tow, followed Minako cautiously into the alley. They had no idea that they were walking into a trap set by a group armed with steel blades.

Henry watched everything from a higher vantage point. Although he had no particular affection for Slater and felt no obligation to help him, he deeply disliked these other individuals. Their actions were giving Henry a perfect reason to eliminate them.

With that thought, Henry quietly leaped down from the rooftop, landing without a sound, and then quickly dashed towards the alley.

...

Meanwhile, Minako clutched Slater's sleeve with a nervous expression, like a frightened young girl. Her figure was graceful and well-proportioned. Though short, she had all the right curves, especially noticeable in her swaying walk, which left the two young men behind her feeling somewhat restless.

"We're almost there, they're just around the corner to the right in that alley!"

"Please, you must save my sisters!" Minako pleaded pitifully.

"Don't worry, if there really are just four or five zombies like you said, we'll definitely be able to rescue your sisters!"

Slater assured her, though his gaze remained vigilantly on the surroundings. He felt something was off but couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was. Moreover, the alley was unusually quiet—eerily so.

"Thank you! I like you!"

Minako said, then reached out to grasp Slater's cheeks and planted a passionate kiss on him. This completely bewildered Slater, he had never encountered such a forward girl. The two young men behind him were both envious and jealous, wishing they were in Slater's shoes. They also harbored a little hope that the two sisters might treat them the same way. What a thought...

As they were daydreaming, suddenly, seven people emerged, each armed with a katana—three in front and four behind.

"Put the bags down and hands up!" the mustachioed man shouted.

"Huh? What's going on?" Before Slater could react, a cold dagger was pressed against his throat.

"Stop resisting, or I'll slit your leader's throat!" Minako, seemingly out of nowhere, produced a dagger and smirked triumphantly at the remaining two young men.

"What... what do we do now?" The two young men were decent fighters, but they were virtually incapable of adapting on the fly. Now facing seven opponents with only three on their side, and Slater taken as a hostage, how were they supposed to fight?

The two stood there, dumbfounded, holding their bows, unsure whether to raise them or put them down, completely lost at what to do next.

In this state ready for battle, it's not the time for chatting. The system chat interface can only be accessed in safe locations. This is why sometimes people suddenly stop responding in chat—they've entered combat.

"Who exactly are you, and what do you want?!" Slater demanded sternly.

"My name is Minako!"

"Like you, we've also formed a camp organization,"

"Only, you formed a pathetic survivors' camp,"

"While we formed a Hunters' camp."

"We have the spirit of wolves and team cooperation, so naturally, we prey on others!" "And you are our prey," Minako said with a smirk.

"You just want food and water, right? I can give that to you,"

"Just let us go back, and my word is my bond, I will not go back on it," Slater said.

"Ha, your word is your bond? Do you think I would believe that?"

"Now, one of you will come with me, and you and another stay here,"

"If he doesn't cooperate, then I will kill both your leader and your companion," Minako said to one of the younger-looking survivors.

"Don't listen to her, the three of us can die here, and the others can still live!"

"If you lead others into her trap, we will all be wiped out!"

"They'll take all our food and water," Slater said bitterly.

"But... in your current situation, it seems like you don't really have any bargaining chips!"

"We kill the three of you, and I can still bring in the rest,"

"Moreover, we have eight people, and you only have four left!"

"Even just by numbers, those left wouldn't stand a chance against us!"

"However, if you listen to me obediently..."

"I can ensure you have one last comfortable moment before you die!"

"And you won't feel any pain when you die,"

"Otherwise, I guarantee that I will make you watch as zombies tear your flesh from your bones bite by bite!"

Minako's tone was alternately gentle and venomous. This sent chills down the spines of the three men.
