Chapitre 66: Unraveling Plans
"And you've been doing what exactly?" Bruce raised an eyebrow.
"Not manipulating you." Harry answered. "Look, you came here with us and..."
"And I'm not leaving because you two suddenly get a little twitchy," Bruce cut him off. "I'd like to know why Shield is using the tesseract to create weapons of mass destruction."
"Because of hm." Fury sighed as he pointed to Thor.
"Me?!" Thor asked.
"Last year Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that levelled an entire town," Fury said. "we learnt that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly and hilariously outgunned."
"My people want nothing but peace with your planet."
"But you're not the only people out there, are you? And you're not the only threat," Fury added as he looked around the room. "the world is filling up with people who can't be matched, who can't be controlled."
"Like you controlled the cube?" Steve asked.
"Your work with the tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies." Thor said. "It is a signal to all the worlds that the Earth is ready for a higher form of war."
"A higher form?" Steve asked.
"You forced our hands," Fury said defensively. "we had to come up with..."
"A nuclear deterrent," Tony cut Fury off. "because that always calms things right down." He said in a sarcastic voice.
"Remind me again how you made your fortune Stark?" Fury raised an eyebrow.
Harry listened as the group continued arguing, each and every one of them were arguing. Harry didn't join in because he was more than a bit distracted by something else, when he entered the room he felt a tingle on his mental shields, but it was slowly building up to be something worse. It hadn't yet managed to break through his defenses as it was currently choosing to go for a more subtle and gentle approach.
"Put on the suit, let's go a few rounds." Harry heard Cap say to Tony, this raised concerns for Harry, Steve was not the sort of person to make threats like that. As everyone continued arguing Harry looked at each and every one of them, Steve looked more aggressive while Thor looked slightly drunk, the rest looked tired, apart from Banner who was looking as if he was growing more and more angry.
"Stop." Harry said in a quiet voice as he shook his head, but nobody appeared to be listing to him as they were too busy arguing. Harry sighed before his wand appeared in his hand, Harry twisted it and a high pitched sound shot out from it, causing everyone to cover their ears. Harry quickly cut it off once everyone had stopped talking.
"What the hell?!" Stark demanded as he rubbed his ears.
"Got your attention?" Harry asked. "Good," He said before anyone could reply, he walked to Banner and moved him out of the way before waving his wand over Loki's scepter. "hmm." Harry frowned.
"What are you doing?" Thor asked.
"This thing is messing with our minds, it's making us aggressive and tired." Harry explained. "That's Loki's plan, he wanted the scepter to mess with Banner's mind and get him to unleash the Hulk, I don't know if he intended it to affect the rest of us but even if he didn't it is still a nice bonus for the crazy twat."
"Twat?" Tony mouthed to the others.
"He is my brother." Thor frowned.
"Fine, Thor's crazy twat." Harry amended absentmindedly as he continued waving his wand around it, several seconds later he stopped. "I don't know how much help that will be but it should at least reduce the effects it has on our minds."
"Yeah but..." Natasha was cut off by a beeping sound.
"We've got it." Fury said as he looked at the computer that was beating.
"Got what?" Harry asked as he followed Bruce and Natasha over to the computer.
"The location of the tesseract." Fury answered.
"I can get there faster." Tony said.
"The tesseract belongs on Asgard." Thor replied.
"You're not going alone." Steve said to Harry.
"All of you shut up," Harry said. "I can teleport there and get the tesseract myself."
"Oh no." Bruce whispered. Harry turned to him, a question was on his lips but he didn't get to ask as suddenly the room shook as a burst of flames burst out from below.
