Gwen held Sebastian's hand before he could agree and dragged him towards a shadowy spot in the garden where the moonlight did not reach. This part had few tall trees, appearing to be like a little garden of its own, with crops beginning to sprout out, none of which reached his knee.

"Here," Gwen said excitedly, crouching down to run her hand over a little plant, its tiny leaves spread out. "This is my world," she murmured, more to herself than to him.

"Your garden?" he asked as he bent next to her, watching her in admiration. There might have been less light there, but he saw her dark hair clearly, along with her fluttered lashes. There was something about a woman who could do something other than sit at tables and wait for a man to marry her. He had known human females to be less productive, especially those from wealthy homes, not to mention a princess.
