Blakely had invited her girlfriends, Maven and Iris, her friend Esme, and her younger cousins Theo and Cleo for a night filled with spooky fun. Joining the group were Maven's younger siblings, Margo and Mason, who were the same age as Theo and Cleo, making for an enthusiastic bunch ready for a night of Halloween excitement.

The grand Arcas mansion was decorated to perfection, with fake cobwebs draped over the chandelier, pumpkin lights flickering in the windows, and eerie shadows cast by strategically placed candles. The kids had already spent the early evening watching scary movies in the theater room, each one progressively more terrifying than the last.
