Chapitre 5: Chapter 5: Leaving the Blackstar family [1]

"Dad?"

My voice escaped involuntarily, the word slipping out before I could halt it.

His reaction was immediate—a fleeting expression of disgust contorting his features before he masked it with stoicism once more.

Realization washed over me like a cold wave.

In this unfamiliar world, I was a foreigner, ignorant of its cultural norms and intricacies.

My misstep was glaring, and I felt a flush of embarrassment tinge my cheeks.

Summoning my courage, I tried again.

"F-Father?"

The word felt awkward on my tongue, unfamiliar and stilted. But it was the closest approximation I could manage, given the circumstances.

Slowly, almost begrudgingly, he turned his gaze towards me. His eyes bore down on me, cold and assessing, as I remained sprawled on the unforgiving marble floor.

I hurriedly scrambled to my feet, feigning nonchalance as I brushed imaginary dust from my clothes.

With a sense of unease gnawing at me, I surveyed the room, acutely aware of the eyes fixed upon me.

Every gaze I met seemed to carry a subtle undercurrent of disdain, while others openly bore traces of amusement.

I fought to maintain my composure, refusing to succumb to the discomfort that threatened to overwhelm me.

Straightening my posture, I directed my attention to my 'father,' locking eyes with him in a silent challenge.

Beside him stood an older gentleman, his demeanor exuding an air of refinement.

A decorative sword hung from his waist, its hilt adorned with the unmistakable insignia of the Blackstar family crest.

I was about to question why a sword than I realized that he could probably swing that sword faster than a speeding bullet.

"D▣ yo▣ know why I call▣▣ you here?"

My father's voice reverberated through the room, accompanied by an overwhelming pressure that bore down upon me like a suffocating weight.

With a gasp, I found myself collapsing to my knees, disoriented and apprehensive in the face of the inexplicable force that enveloped me.

It felt like one second I was on land and the next second, I was 10 feet under an ocean.

Struggling to comprehend the situation, I raised my gaze to meet my father's stern visage, the source of the oppressive aura that seemed to emanate from him.

"Do you know why I called you here?"

He repeated himself, he spoke in Glyndor, I had my mind work overtime since this hell began to understand the language and situation unfolding around me.

"N-No, F-Father."

I replied in Glyndor as I felt I was being crushed under his strange powerful pressure.

My father nodded, signaling to the older, dignified man standing beside him.

With a solemn nod in return, the gentleman unfurled a scroll, its contents bearing the weight of a formal announcement.

"Dear Duke Nathen Blackstar," he began, his voice resonating with authority as he read from the parchment, "this is a formal letter to inform you that I have forcibly annulled the marriage contract between my daughter, Sylvia Lunari, and your son, Aren Blackstar. In accordance with the terms stipulated within the contract, in the event of a forced annulment, I hereby relinquish 1/3 of the southern lands of Colnton to the Blackstar family. I do so in the hope that my daughter may find a partner who will genuinely love and cherish her for the person she is."

There was more which I did not catch or understand properly as I don't know the language so I pieced whatever I could that left the old man's mouth.

"Even after all that has transpired, you still failed to honor your commitment?" he questioned, his tone laced with icy disapproval.

My father's demeanor remained cold and stoic, yet his judgmental gaze pierced through me.

I remained silent, devoid of words to offer in response. Despite his composed facade, the intensity of his anger emanated from his gaze.

Without a word, he retrieved a file and flung it toward me like a projectile, catching me off guard as it collided with my face, leaving a stinging sensation on my lips.

Refusing to meet his gaze, I cautiously opened the file to discover disownment papers, signed not only by him but also by my sister, Ayla.

"From this day forward, the title of heir to the Blackstar family now belongs to Ayla Blackstar,"

"I don't have any sons."

he declared coldly, his words cutting deeper than any physical wound.

Though I did not care for the affairs of this world, the casual dismissal by my identical appearance wise 'father' and 'sister' from my previous existence stung in the chest.

Glancing once more at the disownment papers, I noticed the absence of our mother's signature.

"Where's Mom's signature?" I instinctively inquired.

—Slap!

"Aaaarg!"

The sudden, powerful impact against my cheek sent me crashing to the floor once again.

Warmth trickled down my nose as I held it with trembling fingers, lifting my gaze to meet my father's cold stare, now riddled with doubt about my sanity.

"She's long dead. Why can't you understand?" he spat with disdain.

I returned his gaze with a glare, tears threatening to overflow like a torrent from my eyes.

"Tch... Albert, get him out of my sight. I don't want to see him anywhere near this mansion," he commanded, his voice dripping with contempt.

The older man then approached me, extending a helping hand to lift me to my feet before guiding me out of the mansion.

As I walked alongside him, my mind was an in emotional mess. I forced myself delay processing what had transpired in the span of less than 5 minutes further.

I to distract myself, observed my surroundings once more

My sister's expression had shifted from joy to guilt, swiftly morphing into a blend of disgust and anger.

The stoic maids and butlers betrayed a subtle air of satisfaction and relief.

Upon reaching the mansion's entrance, a bag packed with my belongings awaited me.

My personal maid stood beside it, accompanied by the other maids.

'Were they waiting for me?' I pondered, perplexed by their apparent readiness to assist someone who had caused them suffering.

My personal maid, Miss Lily Parker, stepped forward, her expression hesitant.

With a determined resolve, she positioned herself in our path.

"What are you doing, Miss Lily Parker?" Albert inquired.

She remained silent, her hesitation palpable.

After drawing a deep breath, she leaned towards me and...

—Slap!

My cheek stung once more, though her slap lacked the force of my father's blow.

With a glance filled with burning hatred, she dismissed me and walked away.

We eventually reached the mansion's entrance, where I retrieved my bag and luggage.

Albert, breaking his silence, offered words of advice.

"Young Master, I advise you to stay near M.I.C. It's on the outskirts of the city, but there should be rental apartments nearby. Wait for six more days and attend the institute; your dorm and institute fees should already be paid off."

With that, he gave me a reassuring pat on the back and departed.
