Chapitre 13: Chapter 13: A Problem From Different Timeline. (3)

"Who the hell are you?" Said the Guy who... I honestly couldn't care less.

I didn't even bother to answer, his presence was hardly worth my acknowledgement.

I tried to steady my expression the best I could under the mask, though every fiber of my being screamed with distaste.

The moment I crossed the threshold of the dilapidated building, a putrid stench assaulted me— a nauseating blend of sweat, decay, and filth that clung to the walls like a grimy second skin, forcing a grimace onto my face.

I squinted my eyes and glanced around the room, taking in the sight of a dozen men scattered about, their eyes immediately locking onto me.

A large man, almost twice my size, had a trembling girl pinned against the wall, his rough hands tearing at her clothes.

My gut churned with anger and revulsion, though the girl annoyed me very slightly as a person, the scene of a man abusing the weaker sex as he pleases, even if I dislike her, revolt me.

As the air grew thin and the stifling heat from my own body began to suffocate me, I tugged off my hood and then my mask with deliberate slowness.

When Olivia caught sight of my face, a startled yelp escaped her lips.

"Oh, Just passing through...What about you?" I finally replied.

The brute, Mob 1, as I decided to call him, fixed me with an annoyed sneer. "You've got a lot of nerve."

The room was a tableau of tension, filled only with the ragged breathing of its occupants. I scanned their faces, noting the flickers of hesitation in their eyes.

"Yeah, I'm quite Abundant with it... And?"

Why weren't they attacking? Perhaps they were even more cowardly than I'd anticipated?

'Oh!' Then a sudden epiphany hit me.

"Oh, I came alone, in case you were wondering."

I watched in cold amusement as their eyes darted around, searching for the allies they assumed I had brought, even though I just stated I'm alone.

The flicker of fear in their eyes was almost satisfying. I took a slow, deliberate step forward, the floorboards creaking underfoot, and watched as they recoiled slightly.

How cowardly can they be? A Man... No. A boy, probably half their age is one sidedly provoking them, and all they did is fear? What a load of pathetic bastards.

I glanced at the girls again. At first, I assumed they were among those who deserved my wrath.

But seeing the scene unfold, it seemed they had been threatened, used and abandoned promptly after their usefulness had expired, here, left alone to their fate.

Perhaps that Banana girl coerced them into kidnapping Olivia.

When I first entered, she was tied up with a rope, although sloppily, the fear in her eyes was real.

The slight tears on her cheeks and the trembling of her muscles made me feel, something... Something weird.

It stung my pride a little to admit that a fictional character could induced such intense anger in me. Both she and that banana girl deserved some praises I supposed.

Initially, I decide to ignore her for a while for my convenience. After all, the book had never described kidnapping or physical abuse, as far as I remembered.

But this... scrutinizing the terrified girls again, I let my facial muscles relax completely and returned my gaze to the men.

I was so furious I didn't even absorb what the guys were saying to me.

Assuming they had backup, I should probably eliminate that thing first, I mused. My eyes flicked to a haphazard pile of junk in the corner. Three of them knelt, their cockpit opened.

After my comment, the tense faces of the men brightened significantly. The girls, however, were a different story.

"Why didn't you bring anyone?!" Olivia whispered, in a soft, whimpering tone.

Hearing her plea, Mob 2; The bulky one taunt, "Ha ha ha ha, You heard her Boy? She basically said you are stupid."

The girls I intended to save— all four of them without exception— wore expressions that spoke of utter despair.

As if their world was ending in that moment, their hopeless reaction annoyed me slightly, but I couldn't blame them.

I showed my obsidian dark sword from under the robe with deliberate slowness, its blade seeming to absorb all the light particles around, and said, "Now, if you're finished with your chit chat, shall we Start?"

"Fuck Him Up!" Mob 1, the one with blonde hair ordered.

At his command, the gang opened fire simultaneously. The Bullets toring through the air with lethal intent.

Though I could probably deflect all of them if necessary, because guns of this era cannot fire consecutively.

Opting for the safer option, I decided to just focused on dodging the twelve rounds heading my way.

Counting each shot, I sprang to the right with precise agility.

"1... 2... 3..." I muttered under my breath, tracking their gunfire.

Anticipating their next move, before the men who are faster to adapt aimed at me again, I channeled a trickle of thelesma I had transformed into the obsidian blade, through my fingers

With a fluid motion, I pivoted towards four kneeling Armour, slashing twice.

A subtle, almost imperceiveable energy in the shaped of a curved cross surged from the blade, slicing through their armor like a hot knife through butter and seperate them into pieces.

"Haah?!"

"guh!"

"Fuck!"

Although the reaction the guys show was diverse, there was however, no dramatic result like explosive display like in a movie, but the robots were rendered useless.

A faint smirk touched my lips, quickly replaced by a grimace of pain.

"Damn, it hurts," I muttered, clutching my chest with my free left hand and crouching on the ground with the other hand gripping my sword.

The mixing of mana and thelesma was wreaking havoc on my body, rejecting the combination.

The clash of the two different energies sent waves of searing pain coursing through me, starting from my heart.

It felt like a foreign substance, a strong acid perhaps was being injected into my veins, burning and corroding everything in its path.

My flesh, muscles, veins and even my nerves convulsed violently, my vision blurred with the intensity of the agony.

I wished I had drunk some alcohol beforehand. Each jolt felt like it was tearing me apart from the inside. Despite the torment though, it got the job done.

Gritting my teeth against the pain, I blinked away the temporary blindness caused by using the 'Art of the Apostle' and dashed forward.

My vision was still too blurry to trust, but it cleared just enough to see my path.

I sprinted in the opposite direction of where I remembered the girls were, With a violent beat of my heart and every sense of my body screaming in protest to the movement.

Immediately after I dashed off, I heard the sound of two bullets hitting the spot where I had just been standing.

Although my vision was still blurry, I spun around and saw some of them dropping their guns to pick up melee weapons.

"No, no, no, you don't do that," I whispered, drewing a needle from under my robe and hurled it at the figures I could barely make out.

— Tik —Tik —Tik —Tik

Four out of the seven needles I threw landed on the target consecutively.

Unable to clearly make them out, I wasn't sure if they hit vital points, but the drug on the needles was strong enough to knock them out.

The remaining people I couldn't knock out had already retrieved their weapons and moved towards me with perfect coordination, flanking me from all sides.

The warehouse echoed with their footsteps, the smell of rust and oil thick in the air.

Cling.

In the midst of such tension, I swung my sword in a diagonal arc, parrying the bullet fired by Mob 1 in a slightly different angle.

The metallic clang echoed just beside my left leg where the bullet hit, forcing a dull vibrations up my arm.

"What The..." I heard Blondie muttering.

I violently inhale, a sharp "Hhhhhhhh..." sucking in the musty air of the warehouse, forcing adrenaline through my veins.

With a forceful exhale, "Haaaaa," I release the tension, steadying my breath as I prepared myself.

Finally as the pain subsided to a level I could forcefully tolerate, I forced open my eyes, just to see a burly man with a jagged scar over his eye, with a tensed muscle leaping toward me for attack.

"Grrrrraaaaa."

With a primal roar, he lunged forward, his sword vertically slicing through the air with deadly precision.

Reacting swiftly, I leaned left, angling my katana to intercept his vertical slash without any excess force.

Our blades clashed with a sharp ring that echoed through the enclosed space, his sword sliding down the length of mine.

Capitalizing on his momentum, the man spun violently, changing the angle of his attack to slash from the opposite side of my parry.

As his sword rose, I took half a step back and lowered my head just enough to maintain a 1 millimetre distance between me and the sword.

Seizing on my awkward stance, he swiftly followed up with a rapid knee strike aimed at my upper body. I grinned, as I successfully induce the move I want.

In consideration of his action, I rotated my torso and smoothly shifted my weight onto my left hand, pivoting to deliver a decisive blow to his right knee, buckling his awkward stance.

Not missing a beat, I seized the opening. With a swift, controlled motion I spun around and landed just beside him, my katana descended in a sharp arc on his extended wrist along with me.

The razor-sharp edge of my blade connected with his wrist, slicing through his flesh just shallow enough to graze the veins, a spray of crimson droplets staining the air around us, staining the immidiate vicinity.

"kuak... Graaah!..." He groaned, in the most pathetic manner.

His grip faltered, fingers loosening involuntarily as he lost the sensation of his hand. The weapon he held clattered loudly to the cold concrete floor.

He stumbled backward, grappling with the sudden pain and loss of control, while I leaped up, using my left hand to steady my awkward stance by crouching down a little.

With a fluid precision, I rotated and use the momentum to hurled the needle at the barbarian, the slender projectile slicing through the air towards him.

Meanwhile, I took four swift steps back, narrowly evading the bullet that whizzed past me.
