Chapitre 20: Chapter 20 : I want to go home

Xiao Wu walked into the cafeteria and looked over her shoulder out of habit. She exhaled a breath of relief when she noticed that no one was approaching to annoy her.

While they didn't specifically target her in the past, they did like spreading rumors and making crude remarks.

She was content to bask in her calm without that irritation. "I need to buy some buns and bring them to that pervert!" Xiao Wu clinched her teet, remembering what had happened yesterday, but she nevertheless made her way to the bun stall.

"Boss, they're here!" Xiao Chenyu's subordinate announced the work-study students' arrival outside the cafeteria. Xiao Chenyu walked toward the path and noticed a group of work-study students, led by Tang San and Wang Sheng, their previous leader, coming toward them.

"Block them!" Xiao Chenyu ordered coldly. A dozen of his followers immediately moved to block the path leading to the cafeteria.

"What's the meaning of this?" Wang Sheng had noticed something was off, but they couldn't just skip meals. With Tang San's strength, they weren't completely powerless.

"It means I don't want to see you guys in the cafeteria," Xiao Chenyu said arrogantly, expressing his strong disdain for these work-study students. If they had talent, that would be one thing, but they lacked both talent and the resources to afford school. What were they doing here?

"Move aside." Tang San stepped forward. As the leader of the work-study students, it was his responsibility to deal with this.

"Oh, so you're the bloodsucker's apprentice? You freeload and even have a freeloader apprentice," Xiao Chenyu taunted, recalling the gossip his mother had shared about recent events at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy.

Xiao Chenyu thought he was hitting a sore spot, but Tang San's eyes turned purple as an indication of the activation of his Purple Demon Eye technique. Since joining the academy, Xiao Chenyu has repeatedly mocked Yu Xiaogang and the work-study students in front of Tang San.

In the past, Tang San might have kept quiet, but the accumulation of recent negative emotions had reached a tipping point. He didn't believe he had done anything wrong. Tang San's upbringing in a chaotic village meant he hadn't learned the so-called "rules" of this world. Moreover, Yu Xiaogang was too busy with divination to teach him the basics of the soul master world.

"What's so funny?" Wang Sheng's voice came with a hint of indignation. He knew their new leader was strong and talented, but having an unreliable mentor was a problem.

"Wang Sheng, you might not know what happened outside the academy. This new leader and his mentor, two soul masters, tried to ambush a common vendor, but" Xiao Chenyu's words were interrupted as he suddenly lost his balance.

He looked down to see his legs bound by blue-silver grass, a shimmering hue wrapping around his legs. Suddenly, a surge of killing intent shot toward him as a hidden arrow flew rapidly toward his throat.

Xiao Chenyu tried to retreat but found he couldn't move—the once fragile Blue Silver Grass had become shackles, trapping him.

"No..." Xiao Chenyu's heart was filled with despair. He remembered the seemingly ordinary diviner, Jiang Yi, and the unusual respect his parents had shown him. Could it be that the divination was true?

As Xiao Chenyu watched the hidden arrow rapidly approach, the five guards who had been watching since Tang San's arrival quickly sprang into action. Three of them charged at Tang San, while the remaining two rushed to protect Xiao Chenyu.

One guard tore apart the Blue Silver Grass, while the other conjured a blue turtle shell, blocking the hidden arrow just in time. The arrow bounced off the shell, shattering it in the process.

"It was really this despicable guy!" The guard felt vindicated; he had been on high alert ever since Tang San's arrival, knowing only Tang San could pull off such an attack.

Faced with the three guards, Tang San's movements became ghost-like as he swiftly darted around, leaving the work-study students stunned in disbelief. How was he so strong?

As the work-study students stood in shock, Tang San swiftly slipped through the group and ran into the distance, following a pre-planned route with calculated precision. The three guards pushed through the work-study students to chase him.

"Is this the true strength of our leader?" One work-study student asked in disbelief after Tang San had left.

A guard shot him a harsh glare. "He's your leader, so you must've known about this attack!"

The guard's icy words sent shivers down the work-study students' spines. It was only then that they realized what had happened—Tang San had almost killed Xiao Chenyu.

Xiao Chenyu wasn't just anybody; he was the son of the lord of Notting City! Though they might not have liked him, the work-study students would never think of opposing him outright. But now, their leader had nearly taken his life.

Wang Sheng and the others felt their faces grow pale, as if a sudden blizzard had engulfed them, leaving them chilled to the bone.

"I want to go home. I want to go home." Xiao Chenyu finally spoke in his shock, causing the two guards beside him to exchange glances. Eventually, they escorted him back to the city's residence.

Xiao Wu, having left the cafeteria with her buns, noticed the dazed work-study students and wondered what had happened. However, she chose to head toward the academy's fence, focusing on delivering the buns.

Seeing Xiao Wu pass by, the work-study students had no reaction. By tomorrow, it seemed that the entire Notting Junior Soul Master Academy might have just one work-study student left.

As dusk fell, Jiang Yi, finishing his dinner, asked, "Has anything interesting happened at Notting Junior Soul Master Academy recently?"

"No, everything's been calm. At least, that's how it seems to me," Xiao Wu replied nonchalantly. The only thing that puzzled her was the strange behavior of the work-study students earlier.

"Nothing?" Jiang Yi muttered quietly. It seemed Xiao Wu hadn't had much interaction with the work-study students, avoiding any trouble.

Earlier, Jiang Yi had seen Xiao Chenyu, visibly shaken, get into a carriage, indicating something significant had happened.
