Chapitre 23: Chapter 23: Kill Everyone

Everyone there was stunned, but Barco looked most afraid. He had been confident that the anti-magic chains could hold Klaton which was why he had given the order to kill all his men.

But watching Hazor burst into flames, fire being one of their most extreme weaknesses, scared him.

"Attack him! Use more chains if you have to!" Barco screamed at his men, backing away as quickly as he could.

Klaton looked more ferocious than before and it didn't help that any man that went closer to him instantly turned into a burning ball of flames.

The anti-magic chains Braco had been confident in were also melting and seemed to have only a couple of more seconds before it was completely burnt off.

Even Braco was scared to move closer to him as he stood some distance away while ordering his terrified soldiers to move closer.

'This is a good thing! If he's able to kill them all then I'll be free,' Rye thought to herself.

There would be no slave collar and she could continue with her plans of pretending to be a santor. She was prepared to cut her hair and face if that was what it took.

The villagers were just as scared as they tried to distance themselves from Klaton, whose clothes had already burnt off and whose eyes had become closer to red than gold.

At first, the fire was mostly concentrated at the center where the bulk of the soldiers were but soon, it began to spread so quickly and voraciously that even Rye was worried that she wouldn't be able to avoid it.

"All of you should just die!" Klaton growled, his voice strong enough to make the villagers scramble toward their loved ones and start to flee.

It was at this point that Braco also realized that he had to leave if he wanted to live.

"Get to the horses!' He shouted ordering the men that were still alive to leave.

'We can come back and kill him later when all the enormous energy he's using has been completely spent,'

Mino, being the farthest, instantly ran towards the closest horse to him.

'If he finds me, he'll kill me. The rebellion was never going to work. The best I could do was give him up to protect and provide for other Santors,'

'I refuse to die a Fool's death,'

But the thought had barely flashed across his men as he grabbed a horse about to jump on its back when he saw an enormous ball of fire erupt.

He could feel his skin melting even before it got to him.

'I'm going to die,' Was his last thought before he felt like he had been tossed into hot lava unable to do anything else but scream.

Rye saw the ball and instantly realized that Klaton had no intention of sparing anyone. The ones he cared about were dead and he wanted everyone to feel his wrath.

'God!' Ray cursed under her breath as she bolted, realizing that she wouldn't make it even before she felt the flames latch onto her clothes.

"Arrgh-" Rye screamed in agony as she felt her entire body fly up into the air. Thankfully, she didn't feel her body hit the ground before she lost consciousness.

Even the villagers couldn't escape, as screams of anguish tore out from the depths of their throats.

"Please!"

"Somebody help me!"

Unluckily for Rye, her unconscious state didn't last long. A couple of minutes after she landed on the ground, a searing pain in her left arm woke her up.

'It's broken! I'm sure it is,' was the first thing she thought of, as she opened her eyes and looked around her.

She was horrified to see the burnt bodies that littered the ground but even more terrified to see Klaton, killing off the Villagers one after the other.

They begged and pleaded but he seemed completely dead to their pleas as he killed them off.

This terrified Rye and she tried using her hands to get off the ground. But her legs felt just as weak as she watched Klaton standing barely a few steps away from her to kill a mother along with her child.

'If I get up now, I can make it!' Even if she knew it was a lie.

She had been far away from the flames yet, it had gotten to her. If Klaton wanted her dead, there was nothing she could do about it.

Regardless, Rye scrambled to her feet making her way to the horses that had somehow escaped unscathed, even though they had been tied down.

"Aargh- please don't—"

"At least spare my son—"

"Please—"

Hearing them die one after the other, only served to make Rye more scared than ever before, as she ran faster.

The only two horses safe were Braco and Hazor's horse which had been covered in enough armor to protect them from the flames.

She had just gotten there when she saw Mino, already kneeling on the ground untying the ropes.

She was shocked but beyond that, she was more alarmed.

Surprisingly, he looked completely fine.

"Mino!" She heard Klaton bark his voice thundering in her ears from behind.

Instantly, she dashed away, putting as much distance as she could between her and Mino.

A sharp pain shot through her arm and every part of her body every time she took a step forward.

"Klaton!"Mino instantly began to speak, as he instantly stopped what he had been doing.

It was obvious that Klaton wouldn't hesitate to kill him if he made a wrong move.

'I just have to keep speaking. He can't continue using such an amount of power for so long!'

"Klaton! I had to! I figured giving up just the ten leaders was better than giving up the whereabouts of the rest!"

"Our rebel group is destined for destruction. Even if you could defeat them, the rest of us were dying in our tens and hundreds," Mino continued speaking even as Klaton closed the distance between them.

A few seconds later, he was standing in front of Mino, who still held the reins of the horses in his hands even if he could not untie them.

'I have to kill him now. In a minute, I won't have the power to light a single candle!" Klaton thought to himself, trying to fight the indecision he felt as he raised his right hand and produced a flaming ball of fire in his hands.
