Chapitre 19: Chapter 19: Serena's First Gym Battle!
After we both reached the gym, she announced that she wanted to challenge the gym leader Brock, who accepted it as it was his job to accept challenges.
"Uh, Brock? Can I be the judge? It seems your judge hasn't returned from his vacation yet!" I said as I scratched the back of my head.
"Yeah! Sure, no problem!" Brock said as he got into his position, stretching out his hands and cracking a few knuckles.
And Serena also stood in her position as I stood in the place where usually professional judges are supposed to be.
"Ahem, are you both ready?" I said as both of them looked toward me and nodded their heads, indicating that they're ready.
"Then, I'll explain the rules! This will be a 2 Vs 2 Match, and in this match, only the challenger has the right to change their Pokémon while the gym leader cannot. Whoever's first 2 Pokémon faint will be the end of the match! Then, since you both are ready! .... START THE MATCH!" I said as both of them reached for their Pokéballs and took out a Pokéball.
"Froakie! Let's win our first gym badge!" Serena said as she threw Froakie's Pokéball in the air, streaks of red light coming from it before it formed a Pokémon.
Froakie is a small, blue frog-like Pokémon with large, white bubbles on its back, which it can use for various attacks.
"Froakieeeee!" It shouted as soon as it landed on the battlefield, while doing some movement.
"Onix! I choose you!" Brock said as he threw out a Pokéball in the air with some movement, which almost everybody does when throwing a Pokéball.
From it came streaks of red lights before it formed Onix.
Onix is a snake-like Pokémon, boasting a serpentine body made up of massive, interconnected gray boulders. These rugged segments give it a formidable appearance, resembling the coiled form of a giant rock serpent.
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr," Onix shouted as he did some movements of his own and then started to look at Froakie as they made eye contact.
"Froakie! Bubblebeam!" Serena said as she pointed her finger toward Onix.
After hearing her command, Froakie ran ahead and jumped, then breathed in as he formed bubbles inside his mouth before throwing them at Onix.
"Onix! Dodge it!" Brock said as Onix tried to dodge, and it was successful as Froakie's Bubblebeam hit the boulders that were on the battlefield.
"Use Rock Throw!" Brock said as he swiped his hands.
Then Onix used his tail and hit the rocks near him with great force, aimed toward Froakie who saw the incoming attacks.
"Froakie! Use Quick Attack to dodge them all and then use Bubblebeam at Onix!" Serena said as she saw the incoming attacks aimed at Froakie and hurriedly commanded Froakie.
Froakie nodded its head and then applied some kind of energy to its legs as it then disappeared from its previous place and appeared a distance away from its previous place, as the place he was in previously had rocks thrown at there but since Froakie wasn't there, it didn't hit him.
And then he ran hastily toward Onix and halfway, he jumped at great height before throwing out Bubblebeam toward Onix.
"Onix! Quickly use Dig!" Brock, seeing the Bubblebeam, ordered Onix who bashed his head into the ground, creating a hole as he successfully dodged the Bubblebeam.
"Froakie! Use Water Gun in the hole created by Onix!" Serena, who was quick to compose herself, said as Froakie ran hastily toward the hole and then threw out water from his mouth into the hole, successfully hitting the target.
"Grrrrrrrrr," Onix shouted in pain as he quickly got out of the underground.
"Don't give him any time! Bubblebeam!" Onix, who just got out of the hole he made, didn't get the time to react as Bubblebeam hit him straight, making him unconscious as his huge body hit the ground, making a thud sound.
THUD!
"Onix can't battle anymore! I kindly ask the gym leader to change the Pokémon!" I said as Brock nodded his head before taking out Onix's Pokéball and pressing on the button as streaks of red light bound Onix as his body disappeared and went inside the Pokéball.
Then Brock reached for his Pokébelt where he grabbed a Pokéball and then threw it in the air.
"Geodude! I'm counting on you!" He said as he threw the Pokéball to the air.
As streaks of red light came from the Pokéball before it formed a Geodude.
Geodude is a spherical rock with arms, a toothy grin, and rocky bumps covering its surface.
"Geodude!" It shouted as soon as he landed on the ground with his arms wide.
"Geodude! Rock Throw!" Brock calmly said as he took a deep breath in.
Geodude then threw rocks aimed at Froakie with great power.
"Counterattack it with Bubblebeam!" Serena, seeing this, commanded as she had dealt with Rock Throw before and had some idea of how to counterattack it.
Then Froakie nodded its head before sending out a large amount of Bubblebeam from his mouth at the rocks thrown at him as the rock and the water collided with each other.
As everyone knows that water has an advantage over rock, rocks thrown at Froakie couldn't last long at the onslaught of water from Froakie as they were broken into two pieces.
"Froakie! Quick Attack, then Water Gun from nearby!" Serena, seeing an opportunity, quickly grasped it and commanded Froakie, who nodded its head and then used some kind of energy on his legs that made him super fast as he arrived before Geodude in the blink of an eye.
"Geodude! No, dodge it!" Brock knew it was futile and that he already lost the moment Froakie arrived near Geodude as he shouted as Froakie threw out a large amount of water toward Geodude who, upon withstanding, couldn't endure it as he also fainted.
"Geodude can't continue the match! The winner is Serena!" I announced the winner as Brock sighed heavily before calling back Geodude to its Pokéball.
Then he came toward Serena and handed her the Boulder Badge as he said, "Phew! It seems I lost. Haha."
He said as we also laughed with him before we bid him farewell, and we both headed back to the Pokémon Center where we healed and rested our Pokémon before buying some supplies for our journey. Then we both headed to Mt. Moon!
