Mason's POV

The room was quiet, save for the faint crackle of the fire in the hearth. I stared at some documents, focused on sorting out my work for the day so I'd have some time for rest.

The door pushed up open, and Adrian store in, his face hard and his jaw set. The peaceful, calm air in my room shifted instantly. Of course he didn't knock. He didn't wait to be invited in. He just barged in like he owned the damn place.

It infuriated me instantly.

"Adrian," I said, leaning back in my chair, feigning calm. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

His eyes were sharp, glinting with barely restrained anger. "We need to talk."

I arched an eyebrow, smirking. "By all means, talk."

He didn't sit. Instead, he stood in front of my desk, crossing an arm with his eyes fixed on me. It was like he was challenging me. A challenge I wasn't in the mood to entertain.

"It ends now," he said, his voice low but steady.
