[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
In the middle of the hall where they had held dueling classes all year, the attacks began once again between Snape and Pandora in front of all the fifth-year students, as everyone watched the fight grow more aggressive.
Pandora behaved differently than she usually did, fighting intensely against Snape, casting spells rapidly, and using attacks that could seriously harm anyone, causing those who had previously taken advantage of her in duels to reconsider challenging her now.
They stood there, fighting and using all their basic spells, but with no apparent winner, which earned them looks of admiration from the spectators.
"So she was that strong?" Clarisse murmured, watching the duel alongside Lucinda.
"And she certainly is amazing! With these two, we could win a world championship!" Flitwick murmured excitedly, as he watched the duel of talented wizards using all kinds of spells.
Although their repertoire wasn't very large, they used creativity, and transfiguration was limitless in that regard. They specialized in using blades, with the entire platform being destroyed. Pandora had grown used to using swords and daggers thanks to Snape always employing them as her instructor.
However, now dodging some of Snape's attacks, she began to transform all the daggers flying around her into butterflies, creating many of them, with all the girls sighing in admiration as they advanced toward Snape.
He looked at them curiously, not recognizing the magic she was using. As the butterflies approached, they surrounded him, and their wings caught fire like paper.
"I see... You have an interesting trick here," he murmured, observing the burning butterflies all around him, practically forced to teleport to get out of it.
"I learned this while Dobby was helping me," Pandora said with a shy smile.
Then, immediately after, the entire air erupted in flames with Snape in the middle, making everyone gasp in shock. Some screamed in horror, thinking Snape had been consumed by the fire. Even Lily appeared, visibly worried, stepping forward from her friends.
However, Pandora remained calm, watching the flames burn like a tower, and they began to dissipate. Even the teachers watched with interest, knowing that Snape wouldn't be defeated so easily, which is why they allowed the attack to unfold. He appeared afterward, hands in his pockets, unscathed, with the area where he stood untouched by the flames, as he didn't even need to teleport. He merely looked with a calm smile of victory while everything around him burned.
Pandora smiled, but she was clearly exhausted, struggling to breathe.
"Was that your final attack?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes... I can't go on. You've won," she said calmly, already accepting her defeat.
Putting away his wand, Snape simply nodded and looked at the professors. Professor Flitwick smiled and declared, "Well, it seems the victory goes to Mr. Snape! An incredible display of magic, far beyond what I could have expected. Truly, we have great talents for next year's sixth year," he said with satisfaction.
Immediately afterward, applause erupted throughout the hall, with everyone astonished, particularly by Pandora's abilities.
"Well, we can continue with the next duel..." Professor Longbottom began, but was interrupted at that moment.
"Wait a moment, professor." Everyone turned to look at an adult, the auror, who was approaching the platform at that moment. His friend beside him looked at him strangely.
"Can I help you with something?" Longbottom asked, curious about his approach.
"I saw the students' performance and found it very interesting, but still, it wasn't a real battle against a dark wizard," he began, while Longbottom and Professor Flitwick exchanged glances, unwilling to even try to understand where he was going with this.
"Did you see the performance of this boy? Truly fantastic, a natural talent!" the auror continued. "He wasn't even tired, despite the duel, and I doubt anyone could be better than him. That's why I'm proposing a fight against him to show the abilities of a true auror from the Ministry of Magic and demonstrate to everyone how we fight, especially those interested in this career!" he declared.
Everyone was surprised by this statement, beginning to gossip immediately, with Snape still standing on the platform, narrowing his eyes.
"He has other intentions..." Pandora approached Snape now that the flames had dissipated and murmured to him. "The Nargles told me he's trying to blame you for what happened in the Forbidden Forest and in Hogsmeade," she said with some concern.
Snape simply listened and nodded, already knowing that the auror's intentions weren't good.
"I don't think we need this, especially now that Snape has just come out of an intense duel, but I appreciate your intentions, Gideon," Professor Longbottom said.
"But I insist, professor. I'm sure the boy can go on, right? I know you're tough," he said, looking at Snape, while everyone watched in silence.
Snape pondered. "All right, then," he finally said, realizing he would have to deal with this man quickly, but couldn't defeat him overwhelmingly—otherwise, it would only make the auror claim his suspicions were correct. So he would handle it differently.
"See? This is great!" the auror said, turning to Professor Longbottom. "Please, professor, as your colleague from the Ministry, could you grant me this duel against this extraordinary student?" Gideon smiled.
Professor Longbottom sighed at last. "All right, since Snape agrees, you may duel," she said, as the man grinned, stepping onto the platform.
Professor Flitwick restored the destroyed platform, making it return to normal with a repair spell.
"Well, let's see what you're capable of," Gideon said with a serious tone, ready to show everyone that Snape was the real culprit behind everything happening at Hogwarts lately.
His friend from a distance shook his head. "Gideon, you're truly an idiot, fighting a child." He had mentioned wanting to pressure Snape to show that the boy had far more skills than a typical Hogwarts student, in an attempt to incriminate him for the massacre in Hogsmeade. To them, Snape seemed very strange and mysterious. Besides, all the students were afraid of him.
"Well, let's begin then!" he said, and as soon as the teachers gave the signal, he looked at Snape. "Come, attack me," he demanded, trying to show off in front of everyone, while the students focused their attention back on the stage.
With everyone watching and the man really taking this fight seriously with his posture and the way he held his wand, Snape looked at the man for a moment before emitting a glow. Suddenly, the auror felt threatened, as if something dark was enveloping him. The entire scene darkened, with only Snape before him, but his eyes seemed cold with a bright blue glow, like those of a predator. The auror immediately shivered at the sight of Snape's eyes with a sinister gleam.
While the man was frightened, Snape could see all the openings in the auror's stance and over a hundred ways to kill him before he could react. The most powerful wizard he had faced was that woman, Dracula's daughter, many months ago, but now he was much stronger at level 46, unlike his level 29 back then... All other wizards seemed weak in comparison. Even trained aurors could be easily attacked by a teleport they had never seen before and cut down before they could react.
Suddenly, all the pressure disappeared, and the auror was startled for a moment. Before he could react, instead of Snape launching an attack, the auror himself took the initiative, driven by the fear that Snape had instilled in him. He was convinced that Snape was the one behind the massacre, so he wouldn't hold back in defeating him and taking him to Azkaban. Or so he thought.
Quickly, the auror began casting more spells, like "Incendio," "Defindo," and "Bombarda." Snape moved swiftly to defend himself, creating a shield. However, the attacks were quite aggressive, making even the professors widen their eyes as they watched Snape defending himself and retreating under the auror's assault, which no one expected—cowardly against a fifth-year student.
"Hey, what is he doing, that damned Gideon?" the auror's colleague murmured with wide eyes, watching the man openly attacking a student, with Snape only defending himself and retreating under the pressure.
Everyone else looked on, confused and frightened. After all, it was supposed to be a demonstration of the auror's abilities, but the man had simply started attacking as if his life depended on it.
"Stop this!" Professor Longbottom shouted, already drawing her wand. However, before she could act, Snape's shield shattered under a powerful spell like Bombarda Maxima, a spell that was extremely forbidden to use against a student.
An attack followed immediately after the shield's destruction, hitting Snape directly and throwing him back with force. Even the auror looked surprised to see Snape being thrown against the wall, which exploded on impact.
The next moment, the auror was hit by a spell from Professor Longbottom, his wand flying off to the side, and conjured cuffs from Professor Flitwick appeared on his wrists, restraining him completely for attacking a Hogwarts student.
"Do you have any idea what you just did?" Longbottom shouted, approaching with her wand pointed at him, while the auror stood stunned, looking at Snape collapsed against the wall.
He was no longer anything like the monster the auror had seen for a moment. Snape was there, slumped against the wall, eyes closed, but his mouth moved with disappointment.
"Damn, this guy didn't even manage to break a single bone of mine. Looks like I overestimated him," he said, while placing his hand on his rib and, with a light crack, breaking a few bones to make the situation appear worse, expecting to be rescued a moment later, with his shoulder also broken amidst the rubble, unnoticed.
It was a strange way to dissipate all the suspicions that were beginning to arise about him. After all, he wasn't stupid. Dealing with pure-blood families was easy, but being incriminated throughout England with the Ministry of Magic after him was a more complicated challenge while he was still developing.
Perhaps some brave individuals might be more willing to fight him now, seeing that he had fallen for the first time this year, but at least he would have fewer suspicions directed at him from that moment onward, while the auror would be essentially punished for openly attacking and severely injuring a student—something that neither the Ministry nor Hogwarts could ignore.
Quick footsteps were heard as people rushed towards Snape, removing the rubble from him, while he just closed his eyes. The pain from the attack didn't even bother him, even with his body being destroyed against a wall. Even breaking his own bones was just a minor annoyance. The voices of professors and some students were heard as he was placed on a stretcher and taken to the infirmary.
The auror, on the other hand, was detained by his own friend, who looked at him with a disappointed expression, wondering what had gone through his head to throw a student against the wall in such an aggressive manner. He had gotten himself into a situation that could bring significant problems for the Ministry, even if the student in question wasn't from a prominent family.
"I swear... he was dangerous! I swear!" the man kept exclaiming, justifying his actions, but it was clear to everyone that he had simply started attacking a student who barely had time to react before being thrown against the wall after a fatal spell was used.
