Chapitre 1: Chapter 1: the beginning

The air in the experimental base was stale, clinging to sam like a second skin. He scowled, his disdain for the place evident in the tight set of his jaw. The cold, unyielding walls seemed to close in on him, a constant reminder of his imprisonment. Yet, as he stumbled upon the column of mutant abilities, his heart lurched with a mix of dread and desperate hope.

"Imitate?" He whispered to himself, the word foreign yet heavy with implication.

"Energy absorption?" That was easier to grasp, immediately conjuring images of drawing in light energy, transforming the intangible into power. But 'imitation'—that was a curveball. Sam racked his brain, trying to remember when he could have possibly developed such a bizarre ability.

"Did I just wake up with it?" His voice was barely audible, a mix of shock and awe threading through the words. As his heartbeat quickened, a drop of sweat trailed down his temple, testament to the anxiety and excitement battling within him.

He hastily scanned the details, searching for something, anything, that might shed light on his newfound power.

"Imitate, imitate... Ah, so that's it," he mumbled under his breath, piecing it together.

The next line sent a jolt through him. "Big Snake?" The name was not unfamiliar; it was etched into his childhood memories, a formidable boss from a favorite video game, 'King of Fighters.' The Will of the Earth, a guardian turned avenger, seeking to cleanse the planet of humanity's taint. Sam couldn't help but marvel at the irony; he, too, felt a growing disdain for humanity's hubris, especially within the confines of this base.

Why the 'Sun God'? Because, in the game, Big Snake wielded the sun's power, unleashing devastation across the screen. A move that, in Su Yao's current predicament, seemed both enviable and terrifying.

The connection to the game was no mere coincidence; it hinted at a deeper, more complex reality than Sam had ever imagined. Could it be that his abilities were not just a random mutation but a sign of something more? A link to a world where fiction and reality blurred, where the boundaries between games and life were not as solid as they seemed.

His discovery of these abilities felt like a turning point. Yet, for all the power at his fingertips, Sam felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability. These abilities—were they a gift? A curse? Or perhaps a tool, meant to carve out a new destiny from the cold, hard walls of his prison.

But with great power came great risk. The base was a labyrinth, its corridors teeming with those who would use him, experiment on him, or worse. To master his abilities, to understand the link between his mutation and the lore of the Big Snake, Sam knew he had to tread carefully. The stakes were high, and one wrong move could mean the difference between liberation and eternal captivity.

As Sam grappled with his thoughts, a distant sound snapped him back to reality. Footsteps. They were coming for him, the ever-watchful guards of the base, eager to prod and poke at their newest specimen.

With a deep breath, Sam steeled himself. He had to be smart, to use his new abilities wisely. The game, his past, and his very survival now intertwined, he knew the path ahead would be fraught with danger.

But he was ready. Ready to fight, to adapt, and to survive. Whatever it took.
