I caught up with my mates, about ten minutes later, and immediately, something became clear: Daeva was more than just a vampire. She moved through the thick fog with ease, her steps confident and unbothered by the evil that choked the rest of us. It was as if the fog parted for her, respecting her presence. She walked majestically, as though the fog itself did not dare touch her.

I watched as she held General Cecile's hand, guiding her through the oppressive mist. My mates, Leo, Elias, and Jack flanked me as we moved alongside them, the fog pressing down on us despite the heavy rain that continued to pour from the sky.

General Cecile's voice broke the silence. "This fog… it is suffocating. Even with the rain, it is getting worse the deeper we go into the mountain."
