Chapter 61 - Gorr, The Butcher of Gods Part 5

(T/N: In this chapter i used normal brackets for the mc and the curly brackets for the 2nd speaker. I personally did not like this chapter )

POV: Baldur.

Space.

{I am not our father.}

Speaking telepathically these words, and with his face, I understand what is happening. I can understand, but that doesn't diminish my shock, because in front of me now is an older version of myself, his face wrinkled with age resembling my father's to some extent, but also very similar to mine, but what confirms and dispels all my doubts is his eye, it shines like the sun. Just one eye, his left eye is covered with a golden eyepatch.

(So I followed the same path.)

I think as I remain paralyzed, looking at my future self.

{You don't believe me?}

He thought that my shock and my thoughts about his eye were actually my doubt about his identity, so he looks at Sigel that I'm holding and extends his hand. Sigel, who was peacefully with me, immediately goes to him, and when my future self holds her, she releases a wave of heat and light that distorts space around her.

{Is that proof enough?} he asks me.

(I already had an idea of who you were, I was just surprised because of my eye.)

He gives me a smile, understanding what I meant.

{Don't worry about that, it's not what it seems.}

That reassures me a little, I thought that in the future I wouldn't have a choice but to sacrifice my left eye for the font of knowledge just like my father did, knowledge gained in exchange for an eye is worth it, but that wouldn't allow my future plans for Ragnarok.

(If you are me from the future and have already experienced this, why did you think I wouldn't believe?)

{It's true that I have been where you are now, but that was billions and billions of Earth years ago, in that passage of time, even we Gods, can forget some details.}

(Billions and billions of years, the idea of living that long still scares me.)

(T/N: I thought asgardians where not immortal?)

{Time is just an illusion. There came a time when I stopped feeling it, the only thing that reminds us of it is our friends who departed before us. but I am not alone.}

Knowing what I'm thinking, he speaks, "living that long is not a blessing but a curse when you have so many mortal friends, seeing them aging and dying is a scary feeling, but we are not alone, and that's enough for me."

(And Gorr?) I ask.

My future version turns his back to me and looks at the space in front of him.

{The All-Black is still as unpleasant as I remember, she sensed the imminent death of her user, so she teleported Gorr to a safe place. I destroyed a small galaxy for nothing. of course it didn't have any living beings.}

With Gorr alive, the problem continues.

{Of course his last blow and teleportation cost him a lot of his energy reserves, he is in his most weakened state now, it will be easier to take care of him.}

(He will try to find more gods or planets to kill and absorb their life force to recover, then he will come back to find me, I have no intention of letting him do that.)

It's easy to calculate Gor's next moves.

{So, what are you waiting for?}

My future version asks when he turns to me smiling.

(Are you coming with me?) I ask.

He looks at me with his golden eye, I feel as if every secret I have is being discovered by him.

{I have already done what I had to do, so it's time to go back, Amora still gets angry when I leave without warning.}

He says the last sentence smiling.

(Any tips?)

I know I can't ask the questions I would like, any wrong word can change the future, and that's not what he wants, if something goes wrong in the future. he wouldn't mind telling me what I did wrong.

{Three things, First.}

He raises a finger to me.

{When you take care of Gorr, don't go back straight to Earth, go to these coordinates that I will give you, you will know why when you get there. Second.}

He raises the second finger.

{During the journey, try to learn to use the dark energy that you absorbed when you were healing from your injuries, it will be very useful in the future. Third.}

He raises the third finger.

{The events of the second Thor movie are not as simple as what will happen to us. be prepared, he is a more formidable enemy than we thought, Apart from these three things, you are fine, continue with your plans.}

Here's the translation:

---

When I was about to ask what he meant by his third warning, he shines with a golden light and disappears from my sight, presumably returning to his time.

(Am I that mysterious?)

Before reaching an answer, my spear, which was stuck in the asteroid we were on, floats in the air and shoots off in a direction at high speed.

(It seems he made Sigel go to Gorr's location.)

I go after Sigel before losing sight of it, crossing the empty space toward an unknown destination, where I will have to fight Gorr again.

I cross space following my spear for a few hours, until I finally see a planet ahead, which is unlikely to be inhabited. The planet is almost the same size as Earth, but unlike it, this one is entirely red from the rivers of lava that cover it entirely. I can even see several volcanoes erupting, spreading volcanic ash across the sky, preventing sunlight from touching the planet.

(The perfect place to regroup.)

The spear dives into the red planet. Judging by the direction it is going, Gorr is hiding in the largest volcano on the planet. If I were to compare the volcano, it would be as big as or even bigger than Mount Everest. Fortunately for this planet, it is dormant, showing no signs of activity.

Sigel leads me to the entrance of a gigantic cave and floats in front of it. I grab it and enter the cave, ready to end all of this.

The tunnel in the cave seems to have no end until I find myself in the center of the volcano, where I see a gigantic river of magma, and right in the center of it, a black sphere the size of a human is floating. Without ceremony, I throw my spear with all my power, hitting the black sphere. The explosion from the blow shakes the entire volcano, and the sea of magma creates waves that send me flying, avoiding them.

I see a black glow emerging from the magma wave. Gorr attacks me with his black sword, and I defend myself with Sigel's handle, hitting the wall of the volcano. I feel magma flowing from my back, destroying my clothes and armor, but no heat is hot enough to burn the sun god.

"You dare to follow me even without the help of that ridiculous god who saved you!"

"I am more than enough to deal with a monster like you."

I push Gorr and spin Sigel, making a big cut in his chest.

"You're weaker," I say.

Normally, All-Black would protect his body from my attack as it has done several times before. Now, the most it can do is heal the wounds. I create two spears of light and throw them at him. Gorr manages to destroy one of them with a sword strike, but the other one hits him in the shoulder, exploding and sending him into the magma ocean below us.

I throw Sigel with all my power into the center of the magma sea, causing the immense volcano to roar.

"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!"

My blow causes the dormant volcano to erupt, sending me flying high with tremendous force. When I manage to regain my balance, floating meters above the ground, I look around and see that I am thousands of meters away from the volcano. The eruption was the last straw for this small planet; it has now begun to experience earthquakes, opening huge fissures in the ground, releasing steam and lava that began to cover every corner of land.

(This planet won't last long!)

"CRACK!!"

When I look down, I see a black tentacle emerging from the ground coming toward me. I easily dodge it, but then the second and then the third black tentacles emerge, chasing me and trying to hit me. Sigel returns to my hands, and I shoot a blast of energy downward, revealing Gorr, who is now in a form resembling a black octopus with several tentacles ready to attack me.

"DIEEEEEEEEE!"

If Gorr still had some sanity left, he lost it now; his eyes are completely black. He has been consumed by All-Black, and it won't be long before he becomes a mindless creature whose only purpose is to kill and feed.

I attack head-on, but the closer I get to him, the faster his tentacles become. When I am a few meters away from them, three of his tentacles hit me precisely; the tips of the tentacles look more like spear points that pierce my shoulder, abdomen, and left leg. I retreat as fast as I can and see the damage I suffer; the tentacles have created perfect holes in my body.

Accustomed to absorbing the negative energy and containing it in my dimension, I didn't have as much trouble as before. I heal the wounds using my magic. Gorr is increasingly turning into a completely black being consumed by All-Black.

From afar, I shoot a wave of golden flames at him. Gorr attacks the wave of flames with his tentacles, destroying it and causing the flames to rain around him. I extend my hand and control the scattered flames, making them attack him from all possible sides, creating a tornado of flames with Gorr in the center.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Without the total protection of All-Black, he is probably feeling immense pain. It's not enough to kill him, but it's enough to cause severe damage. The tornado of flames is destroyed by the black tentacles, revealing Gorr with almost his entire body covered in burns. I can even see his bones in his charred flesh, but I see that his wounds are closing, healing slowly.

(Now!)

Knowing that this is the best moment, I throw myself with everything I have at him with Sigel ready. I dodge his first attacks, and when I am a few meters away from him, his speed increases, but this time not as fast as the first time. I create four energy spears that hit the tentacles before hitting me, exploding and leaving me face to face with Gorr. Without slowing down, I thrust my spear into his chest, and we crash through the ground beneath us.

I keep up my speed until we reach the center of the red planet, its outer core made of metallic iron and other elements, where I choose to make my move.

I release my spear and stand facing Gorr, who is completely devoid of energy to attack me. The only thing All-Black can do now is concentrate all its attention on keeping its host alive, while my spear continues to pierce and damage his body, preventing him from healing completely.

I grab Gorr's face with both hands and force him to look at me. He is struggling to stay conscious.

"What was it you said to me earlier?" I ask.

My body begins to glow like a small golden sun, and my hands, which are holding Gorr's face, shine like molten iron.

"There's nothing more beautiful than seeing the faces of those who consider themselves all-powerful when they realize they're about to die. So why don't you show me that you were right, Gorr?"

I unleash all the power I can muster and transfer it to Gorr's body. He opens his mouth, but all that comes out is a strong golden light, just like his eyes. His body begins to crack until he explodes. And the planet explodes with him.

From space, I look at what's left of the red planet. Only gigantic asteroids float in space. In one hand, I am holding Sigel, and in the other, a black orb, Gorr's soul.

When he died, I used the same rune I used to extract Cain Marko's soul. Since Gorr was a user of All-Black, his soul should have been consumed by it upon his death. I couldn't allow that. Death is a very manipulable thing in this universe; some enemy of mine could resurrect Gorr, or he himself could consume the next user of All-Black if they had weak willpower. But with his soul in my hands, his resurrection is less likely.

The only loss in this was that while I was playing tug-of-war with All-Black, she managed to escape. I was hoping to leave her in a safe place to avoid another mess like this. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible.

(Now on to the next destination.)

I shoot back to the planet where I landed, but on the way, I encounter a gigantic star, and in its center is where I place Gorr's soul. The soul cannot feel physical pain, but I like to think he will be burning without being able to die until that star dies millions and millions of years later. The explosion will be enough to scatter his soul into thousands of pieces throughout the cosmos. And in case anyone tries to retrieve it, I made a small alteration to the sun's core so that it self-destructs if anyone tries. A small task for the god of the sun.

With everything settled, I go to Freyja, before heading to the world my future self spoke of, as I need to see if Amora has recovered from her injuries.
