40% Lost at Sea, A Pirate Caught Me! / Chapter 2: The Angry Sea

Chapitre 2: The Angry Sea

The moaning and the humping of the walls woke Zacary up. Who the hell could sleep with his first mate banging a woman on the other side of the room?

A loud pleasurable scream made him stand up. Irritated, he pulled on his pants, and boots then he walked out of his room. Zac looked at the empty hallway of his ship and groaned.

It was in the middle of the afternoon. He was supposed to be taking a nap. It was his turn to man the deck this evening. How in the world would you sleep with all that moaning going on?

A man's cry of satisfaction causes a nerve to twitch on his forehead. For the love of Zeus!

"The fuck, Kamar! Open up!" Zac banged on the door.

"Hold up, Cap't!" It was followed by a screech of pleasure and a continuous banging of the wall. The sound of coupling became even louder.

Zac shook his head and walked away from Kamar's room. Not bothering to get a shirt. The rest of the cabin was silent. The rest of his men must have noticed the noise.

Good for them.

The moment he reached the upper deck, the salty mist of the sea hit Zac's face. He paused and took a deep breath.

A smile appears on his rugged handsome face. It made him look like a completely different person. This was the face of a man who had charmed women from port to port.

Yet each of them failed to nab his attention long enough to form an attachment.

"Captain!"

He looked at the helm. Marcus was manning it and from the look on his face, he was bored as heck. The man was one of their best marksmen.

For him to be on top deck and not in the crow's nest, it was one boring job.

"Marcus! How is everything?"

The man grimaces, letting out a dramatic sigh. Zac laughed, shaking his head. Marcus was built, with olive-colored skin. His eyes had this allure that women could not seem to resist, add in the fact that he was one of those gentlemen in his ship.

"I would gladly give the wheel to you, Zac," he replied.

Zac let out an audible 'hmmm' and walked toward him. He rested his hand on the wheel and gestured to Marcus to take on his usual post. The poor man looked so relieved.

His eyes swept the entire area. The sea was calm this afternoon. There were almost no waves, and the breeze was enough to keep them moving. Zac glanced up, noticing there were almost no clouds in sight.

This was not good.

An incoming storm just four days away from the nearest port was not good. The sea god must have enough of Jamal's bagging. The woman he boarded was also…ugh.

He looked at the horizon. Even though the sky was clear, something inside him was telling him to move. A tingling sensation ran on his fingertip as he raised his thumb testing the humidity of the air.

Zac reached up and started ringing the bell. Within a couple of minutes, the top deck was filled with his crew. Even the two 'busy' couples down deck surfaced.

He made eye contact with everyone before he said in a calm voice. "A storm is coming. Secure all the ropes and sails. We are bound to get a big one."

Zac could read the question in their eyes. Storm? The sky was cloudless, and there was a nice breeze going on, how could there be a storm?

"Move!"

That shout came from Jamal who was pulling his arm from his bed mate. Zac saw how the woman glared at his second mate, she was not happy with him.

"When the Captain says there will be a storm, there will be. So, all of you move!"

It was the ship's gunner that said it. Hearing two people confirm his words must have prompted them to move. It can't be helped, most of these crew were slaves that he rescued.

They were grateful that he set them free, but the majority of them were young. And have zero knowledge of who he was.

Then again, Zac was young. Compared to his oldest crew members.

The ones that didn't need prodding and knew how a ship operated were moving, doing all the necessary things that needed to be done. The new ones were clueless.

Zac shook his head. Maybe this storm will help them understand how crucial being a team was.

He just hoped that this storm would not be a destructive one.

~~~~~
The sea was angry, that was Zac's first thought while manning the ship's wheel. Each wave that hits the deck seems like it wants to swallow the whole ship.
Each crest of 'His Precious' felt like they would rise 60 meters above sea level. Making it dangerously high for a ship to survive if it was capped sized.
Surprisingly no matter how mad the sea was, something was also keeping his ship afloat. Like it was keeping it from tipping too much to the side, or leaning too far back.
Whatever it was, Zac was grateful. All needed to do was to keep the ship steady.
Easier said than done.
"WAVE!" Zac shouted, "EVERYONE, HOLD ON!"
As another big wave slammed at them, he could see some of the new members struggling to hold on. He only wished none of them were thrown overboard.
Zac squinted and looked at the dark horizon. He could feel the sea was trying to throw something up. What it was he doesn't know. But there was something…
A flash in the distance caught his attention. Something white? Or was it silver something or someone floating?
Realization dawned on him when the next crest of wave carried them near what he saw. It was like the sea was telling him to be near whatever it was.
Zac's blood turned ice cold when the next wave that will be hitting them carried the thing he saw. It was not a thing though. It was a head.
And it was about to crash on his ship.
