In Konoha, on a bright morning, a figure sat quietly cross-legged atop Hokage Rock on the head of Tobirama.
It was Toshiro Uchiha.
Nearly three months had passed since he activated the Mangekyō Sharingan. During this time, he had done nothing but focus on calming his restless Yin chakra. He even ceased using his shadow clones for training.
Meditation was the best method he could think of.
Especially every morning, atop Hokage Rock, feeling the village wake from its slumber and gradually fill with the breath of life. The effect was particularly noticeable.
"It's truly peaceful," Toshiro sighed, about to end his day's practice, when he noticed an old figure standing quietly behind him.
"For the tranquility of Konoha, countless ninjas have sacrificed their lives."
'There's meaning behind this old man's words,' Toshiro thought.
"I didn't expect Sandaime-sama to have the leisure to enjoy the scenery here!"
Seeing the old man walk slowly to his side, Toshiro was not surprised at all.
"Civilians, ninjas, their families—all gathered for a common goal, creating this rare peace in a war-torn world."
"To let children and the elderly enjoy this hard-won peace, the first, second, and fourth Hokage sacrificed their lives. I hope you, Toshiro, will also cherish this peace."
The Sandaime stood at the cliff's edge, directly above his rock statue, seemingly inspired by his own words.
"Sandaime-sama, you worry too much. I still am a Konoha shinobi and will fight to death for Konoha!"
In the ninja world, it's not easy to find a peaceful and suitable place to settle down, and Konoha is undoubtedly the best choice.
Hearing Toshiro's words, the Sandaime was pleased, but before he could smile, Toshiro's next words dampened his mood.
"I have a very good impression of the villagers and ninjas, but some of the higher-ups' actions…"
"I wonder how someone as kind as the First Hokage and as wise as the Second Hokage would feel about some of the village's darker aspects."
Toshiro glanced at the rock statue of the Second Hokage and smirked.
"All of it was to better protect the village and everyone!" the Sandaime's voice grew softer, lacking confidence.
"Those words mean nothing to someone insignificant like me."
"You, Sandaime-sama, are nearing the end of your life. Think about how you'll answer the First Hokage in the afterlife when asked about the village's state!"
After parting ways with the Sandaime, Toshiro did not return to Konoha Prison. Instead, he ordered a bowl of ramen from Ichiraku to satisfy his hunger.
"Have you heard? Another ninja disappeared recently!"
"It seems like this time it's still a chuunin!"
A deliberately lowered voice reached Toshiro's ears, causing him to pause while eating his ramen.
"I heard the police force couldn't find the murderer. We should be more careful and avoid wandering around at night."
In recent months, the Uchiha Police have received reports of one or two missing persons cases in Konoha. Toshiro was well aware of this!
This was one of the reasons he had confronted the Sandaime Hokage. As Hokage, how could he be ignorant of such incidents?
However, whether out of guilt or some other emotion, the Hokage had not delved deeply into the matter, allowing Orochimaru to act more brazenly.
Initially, only a few civilians disappeared, but now Orochimaru has begun capturing ninjas for his experiments.
Toshiro couldn't help but wonder if Orochimaru was doing this deliberately.
Despite knowing better, Orochimaru continued his actions, which was interesting. The Sandaime Hokage's ambiguous attitude seemed to suggest ignorance.
"Hmph~"
Toshiro snorted softly, expressing his dissatisfaction with the Sandaime. He decided not to dwell on it further.
"Hana, has the HQ made any progress on the recent disappearances?" Upon receiving a negative response, He continued.
"Pay special attention to the movements around the Hokage Building in the coming days!"
Back in his office, Toshiro asked his secretary directly.
He couldn't shake the feeling that, ever since Mei-nee had urged him to get married, his secretary seemed to be avoiding him.
"Disappearances case? Toshiro, it seems that the ANBU directly under the Hokage has taken over the investigation."
"They've already intervened? In that case, keep a close eye on the ANBU's activities."
"If Kakashi Hatake is involved, focus on his actions!"
Toshiro remembered that Kakashi was likely in charge of the investigation. Following this lead could lead to an opportunity to meet Orochimaru.
Having awakened the Mangekyō, and with the help of the eye drops, Toshiro no longer feared blindness. However, to further enhance his strength, he needed something from Orochimaru.
He had a comprehensive plan for his future strength improvement.
"Understood!"
With that, Hana left Toshiro's office hurriedly.
'Could it be that… something Mei-nee and Hana met up?
Watching Hana's retreating figure, Toshiro sighed. Lately, Mei-nee has been urging him to marry, causing him considerable stress.
The ninja world is vast. He hadn't fully explored all its tastes. Why should he be confined to a village because of one person this early?
The world outside still held many opportunities.
"It has been determined that these incidents were orchestrated by a highly skilled ninja."
In the Hokage's office, an ANBU agent, half-kneeling on the ground, handed a piece of information to the Sandaime Hokage. Without speaking, the agent waited quietly for further instructions, not daring to make a sound.
"Thank you for your hard work. You may leave now. I understand the situation," the Hokage said, dismissing the dutiful ANBU.
Once alone, the Sandaime leaned back in his chair, lost in deep and lingering memories. After a long silence, he finally roused himself and called for another ANBU.
"What are your orders?" the second ANBU asked respectfully.
"Gather information on ninjas who had close contacts with Orochimaru in the past. Assign the appropriate personnel to monitor their every move. As for Orochimaru..." The Hokage trailed off, but his intentions were clear to his personal ANBU.
Without another word, the ANBU nodded and departed.
The next night, there was a knock on Toshiro's door. His secretary, Hana had arrived with urgent news.
"Toshiro! We have progress on the missing person cases!"
"Oh! Hana It's you!" Toshiro called out, wrapping a white bath towel around his waist as he went to answer the door.
As Hana stepped inside, she couldn't help but blush. Though a widowed woman and a ninja, the sight of Toshiro in such a state made her heart race. She remembered what Uchiha Mei had said to her, and her face turned even redder, unable to look Toshiro in the eye.
"Yes... there has been movement from the Hokage's office," Chie stammered. "Also, there's news from the HQ. Hatake Kakashi, whom you asked us to monitor, has set off to apprehend the main culprit behind these disappearances."
Toshiro, who had been restless from prolonged celibacy because of restrictions put in place by Mei, took in the sight of Hana.
Her usual green ninja vest and uniform were replaced by an elegant kimono that highlighted her petite yet graceful figure. Her delicate features, framed by gently pulled-up black hair, revealed a hint of shyness. Her white, delicate skin, blushing cheeks, and finely sculpted features gave her an ethereal beauty.
Her figure and appearance were so striking that Toshiro's heart skipped a beat. He thought to himself, If I let this opportunity pass...
"Hana-chan.." he said softly, lifting her chin with his right hand. Looking at the young woman before him, Toshiro couldn't help but sigh.
