Just as Thaddeus took advantage and put himself in such a high pedestal in her heart—making her so dependent on him, making her willing to become a mistress while he married a wife—Elias was planning on overwriting everything he taught her.

(Elias thought this with gritted teeth as if he was feeling wronged for Naia. In reality, he was more jealous that he was not the one to take advantage).

Elias had heard of her naivety, and he remembered the glimpses of it he got. He also spent a lot of money to know more about her situation when they found her. Basically, she was like a newborn at the time, moldable to whatever a man wished her to be.
