Chapitre 8: Observers

Zeth locked the Main Hall with Edwin following him outside. Playing with the key ring on his finger he looked satisfied, walking away carefree. Edwin behind him was skeptical, looking behind him, left and right from time to time but both of them were completely oblivious to the fact that they were being watched.

"Where is he?" A whisper was slightly heard from up in the sky. Hidden high, deep into the thick trees, sitting in the rough branches were a young woman and a young man, the young woman and the young man from before, the werewolves that Zeth seemed to be so afraid of just a few minutes ago.

"Shush…" the man scolded her. "They will hear you."

"There is no way they will hear me with this wind." she commented, listening to the wind whistle as it traveled through the trees and the windows of the houses. Both of them were observing the Main Hall, leaving the man they were supposedly after to leave, to return to his home without intervening.

The man sighed, pushing back his golden locks from his face, gifting the girl with a judgemental look. She sat there, just a few meters away from him, moving her feet happily as if she were sitting on a swing.

They were twins, looking almost identical with their blonde curly hair, honey-brown eyes, and tanned skin. Both of them dressed in complete black, trying to fit into the night, to become one with the shadows. The girl was humming a song, her ponytail moving from side to side as she swayed her body.

"If we get caught Niss, I swear…"

"Oh, shut up. There is no one here, that little idiot just left after they locked that poor puppy inside. Nash, should we get him out?" she asked, her eyes glittering with happiness at the thought of her idea.

"We will not, you know the moon ordered us just to observe."

"Yes but…they're mean to him." he objected and her twin brother scoffed, not satisfied with her reasoning.

"It's the way he looks." Nash answered. "He doesn't look like a werewolf and that scares their little villager close-minded brains."

"I think he's pretty. He is tall, with nice hair and bright eyes. Have you ever seen such eyes? I think they're amazing. What if they glow in the dark?"

"Do you have a crush on him?"

"What?" The girl asked him, her eyes rounding like ping-pong balls. She looked quite shocked by his innocent question.

"Well, you have been acting like a fan of his from the moment we helped him with his wounds, maybe I should have a talk with the Moon about…"

"Do not even dare." She warned him, pointing an angry finger at him. Nash laughed, seeing how panicked she was at the idea of it. She always looked so immersed in her own world that sometimes watching her land cruelly to reality was a bit entertaining for him.

"What do you think they will do to him tomorrow?" Nash asked Niss and she shrugged her shoulders, staring straight ahead at the heavy door of the building.

Nash followed her eyes. They couldn't see Astor or hear him but a while back they had approached them, eavesdropping at the conversation in Edwin's office. They were aware that Astor would get punished soon but they had not received any orders about freeing him. All they could do was wait there and hope they would be able to kill Zeth soon and take so many people out of a life of misery.

"I have no idea." Niss said with a worried expression. "He seems kind." the girl stated, earning a nod of approval from her brother. "Maybe we should go free him after all."

"You know this is not what we're supposed to do." her brother warned him.

Their orders had been clear from the start. See, hear but do not do anything else. They were there to only stalk the Alpha and his brother, waiting for the right moment to report. Helping him back in the forest was their dependent doing and as it seemed they put him into bigger trouble than he usually was. Niss was worried though that something would happen to him because his wounds didn't seem to heal that fast and that's why she convinced Nash to go against their orders for once, knowing that they could very easily get punished for it.

"I know…I know it's just that…" she tried to explain herself when the buzzing sound of Nash's phone interrupted them. He grabbed it, receiving the call with a wary expression.

"Hello?" he greeted the caller. "Yes….well you see, it's not like we had another choice, the kid looked to be in pain and then….please do not yell in my ear!" Nash retaliated and Niss stared at him with an expression of pure horror. "I would like you to calm down, we did not exactly put him into worse danger I mean…here, talk to her. She did it!" he blatantly blamed his sister before passing her the phone.

"Hello?" she repeated her brother's tone and the moment the person on the other line began talking she flinched, looking around her, wondering if someone else from their pack was watching them. "How do you know that? No, you can't know everything, it's impossible you … Do not yell at me because I will go in there and get that kid out right now and tell him that…forgive me sir, yes sir." she said before the line was rudely cut off. "Well." Nish looked at her brother.

"What did he say?"

"I didn't really get much, you see he was screaming right into my ear and most of his words were threats about how he will rip us to shreds if we do anything so stupid again but I do believe he said he is coming here."

"What?" Nash asked again, his jaw dropping from the surprise.

"He is coming here."

"We are screwed."

"We are probably dead."
