If only Kian wasn't a hard person to approach. He didn't give off a dangerous vibe that felt like he was going to hurt those around him. But his everyday glare that was regularly on his face was enough to make everyone distance themselves away from him.
Daphne still hasn't done anything about her plans to control Kian and get him into doing what she wants. She had watched him so many times and yet she still couldn't find anything interesting about him. Nothing she could use as an excuse to get closer to him. Kian was a stoic man who looked as though he was always angry with life. He didn't look like a man that was ever capable of feelings.
'I can't let things continue like this.' Daphne thought.
Kian was arranging the chairs and cleaning up the tables. Mr Mateo decided to close the cafe early, which meant, everyone could go home early.
"Let's go Daff," Esther said with excitement in her voice. She was always excited whenever they got to leave work early but Daphne was killing her excitement. Daphne's work uniform was still on. "You haven't changed yet?"
"I don't think it's right for us to leave like that. The cafe isn't properly cleaned yet."
Esther's eyes went to Kian who was silently arranging the cafe by himself without any complaints. Kian was a silent man, if cleaning up the cafe alone was too much work to do, he was never going to complain about it. Esther gave out a sigh and said in a whining voice. "But Mr Mateo said that it was okay to leave the cafe to Kian, we don't have to worry about it."
"I remember what Mr Mateo said, but there is nothing wrong with helping out." Daphne took a rag and began to wipe the tables Kian hadn't cleaned yet. She noticed the way he looked at her. The frown on his face became harsher.
Daphne thought of staying away from him. But she knew that If she allowed herself to get scared of talking to him then she was never going to talk to him. She needed to be bold. She wasn't a coward when it came to speaking to guys, there was no reason to be afraid of Kian, Daphne told herself. However even after Daphne told herself that. She couldn't forget the main reasons why she needed to be afraid of him. Kian wasn't human.
Even though Daphne knew what to do she hesitated. Kian didn't look like someone interested in chatting with her or anyone else. His usual grumpy look on his face was enough 'Stay away from me message.' Daphne didn't plan to listen.
"Let me help you with that." Daphne moved over to the table Kian was about to clean. Before she could say a word to him, he walked away. His rude behavior was no surprise to Daphne.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Daphne asks Kian. She pretended as though she was about to carry the same chair as him. Kian looked stunned by her questions, but he gave no reply. He carried on with his duties as though he heard nothing from Daphne. But this didn't make Daphne give up. She followed Kian around and asked him the same question again. She lets out her question without caring about if she is doing it the right way.
"Shut up!" Kian shouted in anger. Daphne was taken aback by his sudden reply.
Kian sudden loud voice made Esther pay more attention to him and Daphne. Esther couldn't understand what was going on between them but Kian looks more angry than usual. It made Esther curious about what Daphne said to him.
"Stop talking to me," Kian said to Daphne. This time his voice was low. He had noticed the attention he brought to himself earlier.
"What did you say to him?" Esther ask. She took Daphne away from Kian and brought Daphne to her side. "In fact why are you even talking to him?" She didn't know what Daphne was trying to do, but Esther felt as though she hadn't been a good friend. She didn't warn Daphne about Kian. It was okay for Daphne to be friendly with the other workers in the cafe but not with Kian. When it comes to Kian, it was best to leave him alone. "You shouldn't associate yourself with someone like him, we only going to help out a little and head home."
Daphne watches Kian expression. He gritted his teeth in anger as though he had something to say. But Esther's voice was low, Esther had whispered to Daphne's ear, someone else couldn't hear, but it seemed Kian heard what Esther said.
"You make it sounds like having a little conversation with him is a sin."
"It's not a sin, but can't you see? From his reaction earlier, you can tell that he doesn't want you or anyone talking to him." Esther said, "Let's just go home. I'm tired, I'm sure we have helped enough for today."
'but I'm not done yet.' Daphne thought. She couldn't let Kian chase her away. If she leaves without doing anything then she isn't going to get what she wants.
"You can get ready to leave. I will join you soon." Daphne went back to Kian who continued to ignore her.
Daphne tried saying a word to Kian but he moved away from her. "I was going to apologize for my random question." Daphne came to the Kian side again. "But even though I'm giving you an apology, I still want an answer to my question."
"No." Kian gave a reply and left Daphne again. Even though he tried acting angry again, his voice came out sad, he was hurt by Daphne's question and he was trying to hide it.
Daphne didn't understand how a question so simple could bring a sad emotion to his voice. As she left the cafe with Esther, she tried thinking about why Kian didn't have a girlfriend. To Daphne Kian was a fine man, the only horrible thing about him was his bad attitude. Other than that, he was always frowning. Daphne concluded that Kian must have chased away girls from his life, with his bad attitude and the terrible expression he was always wearing on his face.
