Chapitre 40: Quick break

Ryo had a lot on his mind as he left the ninja academy. In recent days, he had been juggling multiple activities, various types of training. He had no time for anything else—wake up, go to the training ground, eat, go to the academy, then back to training, followed by dinner and sleep, repeating the process day after day.

He knew he was improving in the areas he was training, but slowly his mental state was starting to become complicated. "I need to see if I can get a day off with Kentou, at least one morning," he sighed as he continued walking.

After a few minutes, he realized he would be late if he continued walking, so he started flickering through the buildings to quickly reach the training ground. Once there, Ryo immediately began his standard training routine.

Starting with taijutsu, he executed a series of movements. His taijutsu style was that of the Uchihas, and he trained diligently,it reminded him of good times. After a few minutes, Ryo moved on to shuriken training.

Theoretically, he didn't need to train since he could manipulate the metal in them, but he preferred to practice his aim just in case he needed to throw something non-metallic accurately someday.

Next, he created a clone that sat down to listen to lessons on medicine and other new topics Ryo had learned, such as different types of stitches and bandage ties. Surprisingly, there was a specific tie for each type of injury.

"With this, all that's left is to train wind release; Wind Shuriken. I can already use it without seals, but it's good to keep practicing, as well as the other jutsu I have."

Starting his jutsu training, he performed them one by one with precision. Ryo couldn't overload the Wind Shuriken jutsu; without seals, he could create four, and with seals, he could make six, but he couldn't increase that number further.

"Perhaps that's the limit of the jutsu. It's a low-rank one," Ryo speculated as he moved on to training his Earth Release. One of the jutsu he had learned long ago had become much more useful: Earth Release: Rock Wall. Ryo could now create a wall four meters high, two meters wide, and one meter thick with just one hand seal.

"With this, it's basically double what I could do before, and still with just one hand seal. If I want to do it without a seal, it would be half of that. But depending on the situation, a quick defense is better than a stronger one."

After the clone disappeared at the end of its time limit, Ryo noticed that Kentou hadn't arrived yet for their training. Despite this, Ryo continued with his solo training for about 40 more minutes before sensing someone approaching.

Ryo had developed a habit of sending out his four sensory pulses at intervals of four minutes to gradually train his mental capacity and control over the coin.

The person he sensed wasn't Kentou, but possibly the Anbu who occasionally appeared there. As expected, it was the Anbu. "Ryo-san, we have a message for you from the Hokage," the man said, handing an envelope to Ryo before disappearing with incredible speed.

"A message from the Hokage? What could it be?" Ryo wondered aloud as he opened the letter and began reading the contents. It seemed that Hiruzen had personally written the letter. It stated:

"Young Ryo! Kentou has been assigned to the Land of Iron at the last minute. Something significant is happening there at the moment, and Kentou has relatives there, so he agreed to leave immediately. Unfortunately, your training will have to be conducted by another ninja, who will be arranged. First, I want you to come see me in a week to show me your progress in person."

Ryo raised an eyebrow. "What could be happening in the Land of Iron? And Kentou said he had retired!... But it's family-related, so he had no choice in the end," he mused for a few minutes while looking at the open letter in his hand before crumpling it up and putting it away.

"Well, I guess I'll take a quick break today!" Ryo said with a smile as he took a moment for himself. He instructed his clone to tidy up the training area before leaving the forest. He began walking leisurely toward the city but chose to stop by the academy again, at least on the way. He wanted to meet someone.

After a few minutes, he was standing in front of the academy. He flickered inside to the entrance of Naruto's class and saw a young boy sitting on a bench with a sad expression.

Flickering behind Naruto, who was swinging on a swing, Ryo asked, "Are you alone here, Naruto?" Ryo's voice startled Naruto, causing him to lose his balance and fall backward onto the ground, looking up at Ryo.

"Ryo? Oh, Ryo, you've been gone for a while, you know?!" Naruto said, sitting up. "It happens. I've been in special training! How are things going around here?" Ryo asked as Naruto dusted himself off.

"Not much, Iruka-sensei is taking it easy on the class, we haven't learned many new things. But I've been training at home! Look!" Naruto said, jumping up and grabbing a leaf from the tree. He then began the Leaf Cutting practice with Wind Chakra. After a few seconds, Naruto opened his hand, revealing the leaf cut perfectly in half.

"Oh... Really, it's been three months since the day of the promise?." Naruto quickly replied, "Yeah, but I managed to cut the leaf a few weeks ago, so I'm still within the deadline, Dattebayo!"

"So today we're going to dinner at Yakiniku Q to celebrate your training! Of course, it's on me," Naruto exclaimed, jumping in the air and throwing a fist up. "That's right! Ryo, you're the best friend!" Even though Ryo was Naruto's only real friend for now, but he still felt content with that.

After some walking and plenty of conversation with Naruto, they found themselves seated at a table at Yakiniku Q, with a spread of meats in front of them. Ryo picked up a piece of meat and ate with a calm expression, glad to have taken some time for himself and Naruto.

Pondering, he looked at Naruto. "He would have grown up again without anyone to help or support him until the start of Kakashi's team. With me here, things have changed, not by much since I'm not in his class, but slightly. Also, thinking on the other hand, Hiruzen's keen attention to me might be because of my proximity to Naruto, given that he's Konoha's jinchuuriki, and I'm a Jiton user. Damn maybe the old man will have some ideas about this in the future."

Lost in his thoughts, a piece of meat flew into his face, catching him off guard. Ryo blinked a few times, then saw Naruto laughing loudly. "You're too serious, Ryo! Let's eat more! Dattebayo!" Although Ryo was the one paying for everything, Naruto was the one having fun and devouring everything at an insane speed.

Laughing, Ryo then began to eat more quickly. In the end, he didn't just want to treat someone to dinner; he also wanted to enjoy a good meal after some time of eating ninja rations, which he had come to respect much more as a source of sustenance after studying medicine.
