In the world of One Piece, Logia Devil Fruit users possess immunity to physical attacks, and only those with Armament Haki can truly harness the essence of a Logia Devil Fruit ability.
Kyros attempted to try this, but to his surprise, he could really grasp the elementalized Laxus.
Laxus opened his eyes, a bolt of lightning struck Kyros, sending him staggering backward.
"Close enough. You've already lost. Do you still wish to continue?"
"Lost? How dare you say that! Impossible! I refuse to accept defeat!! You wretched scoundrel... I won't let you get away!!"
Laxus roared furiously, golden lightning crackling around him, shattering the ground beneath.
"What incredible magical prowess!" Mirajane gasped at the sheer power Laxus wielded. Although she knew of Laxus's inherited strength from the Guild Master, she hadn't anticipated its magnitude.
"Curses! I'll make you pay!!"
Laxus bellowed, charging toward Kyros with thunderous force clenched in his fist.
"Have you lost your senses? Then it's settled!"
"Thunderous Tempest!!!"
Kyros bellowed, purple lightning enveloping his mace as he blurred into action, appearing before Laxus and striking him squarely in the face.
"Whoosh—!"
Laxus, who had just closed in on Kyros, was sent hurtling away at incredible speed.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!!"
Several consecutive houses were demolished, until finally, he crashed into a wall.
Laxus lay sprawled on the ground, unconscious, his eyes wide with shock.
"Laxus!!"
Fried's expression turned to one of profound alarm at witnessing Laxus's defeat.
"This... How is this possible... Laxus, defeated..."
Fried couldn't fathom it, but confronted with the undeniable truth, he had no choice but to accept it.
Thunderous Tempest was a skill Kyros acquired from the system after his total stats surpassed 1000 points a few days prior, and it was also one of Kaido's signature moves.
It was this technique that rendered Luffy unconscious, providing him respite from his addiction.
Now, Kyros employed the same move to offer Laxus a reprieve from his status as the strongest wizard.
"Crack! Crash!"
A rift tore through the wall where Laxus had collided, rapidly expanding.
"Boom!"
With a resounding crash, the structure finally gave way, billowing smoke filling the air.
Emerging from behind the collapsed wall loomed a towering figure.
It was a humanoid jackal monster, standing seven or eight meters tall, clad in light leather armor. A single-eyed gaze pierced through, the creature wearing a black eye patch, wielding a massive machete with formidable strength.
"The Jackal Chief!"
The realization struck several individuals, recalling Guild Master Makarov's warning of a monster leader leading a horde to seize the town.
Meanwhile, around Kyros and the others, amidst the buildings, a multitude of jackal monsters emerged, encircling them entirely.
"Monsters?! But when..." Mirajane's expression shifted, realizing their oversight during the intense duel between Kyros and Laxus. They had failed to notice the encroaching threat, now surrounded by a sizable horde numbering in the hundreds.
"Hahahaha! I knew you cursed human mages would venture here! Though I didn't expect you to march straight into our grasp. Saves me the trouble. Have you pondered your impending demise?"
The monster leader's words dripped with arrogance and malice.
"Huh? Remarkable, monsters can speak!" Kyros's surprise was evident.
"Humph! To us, you humans are the true monsters. Many of my kin have fallen by your hands. As reparation, your lives shall be forfeit! Attack!!"
"Aroooooo!!!"
With a collective roar, the jackals surged forward, aiming to overwhelm the few humans.
"No! Kyros, flee!" Fried and Mirajane's expressions contorted in alarm, Mirajane's voice ringing out urgently.
Kyros merely smiled. "Why flee when this is merely a task?"
"What are you saying at a time like this? You're still fixated on completing a mission!"
Suddenly...
"Om–!!"
An invisible, overwhelming aura erupted from Kyros's being, a palpable aura surging forth. The very air quivered violently, shattering glass windows in nearby buildings.
"Bang bang bang!!"
All the jackal monsters rushing towards Kyros collapsed, their eyes rolling back as they succumbed to unconsciousness.
"What?!" Fried's shock and bewilderment were palpable. Having been away on a mission when Kyros joined the guild, he had never witnessed Kyros's display of such overwhelming power.
"This is…" Mirajane's eyes widened as she witnessed the monsters collapsing, immediately realizing it was Kyros's doing.
"You scoundrel! What's happening?! You foolish brat! What have you done?!"
The jackal leader seemed unsettled, and his hundreds of subordinates dropped to the ground.
"Don't fret, they've just been incapacitated, not killed," Kyros reassured, swinging his mace to crush the skull of a wild dog nearby.
"Splat!"
"A resounding crash!"
The jackal monster's head burst open like a ripe watermelon, its screams silenced before they could escape.
"See, that's real death for you."
"You wretched—ahhh!"
The jackal leader seethed with rage, then cast a menacing gaze toward Laxus, who lay unconscious not far from him.
Gripping his massive knife with both hands, the jackal leader bellowed, "If you take the life of my subordinate, I'll slay this human in vengeance!"
"Stop!! Laxus!!" Fried's voice thundered as he charged toward the jackal leader.
"Thundering Gossip!"
"Damn it!"
A bolt of purple lightning tore through the air, narrowly missing Fried's side.
"Crash!"
The giant machete plunged into the ground beside Laxus, while the jackal leader's upper body vanished, blood gushing from the void.
"Thud!" The jackal leader's lifeless corpse collapsed to the ground.
