Chapitre 18: 8
In Chapter 8, the story continues to explore Huguel's cruelty and brutality. After shockingly killing Felicia, Huguel orders Berth to get up and take her husband out of the favela, making it clear that they are being expelled from there. He threatens that if they decide to confront him, he will decapitate their heads and place them in the square as an example.
Berth, overcome by fear, and Sr. João, traumatized and weakened, decide to leave the favela without money or help to take them, since Sr. João is unable to move and Berth has an injured leg. They face an extremely challenging situation, having to deal with physical and emotional pain as they search for a way to leave the favela and find safety.
This plot twist plunges the characters into a state of helplessness and uncertainty. The chapter explores the challenges that Berth and Sr. João face when trying to survive and find a safe place, even in their vulnerable conditions.
