"Maybe," Jace admitted with a slight shrug. He stepped closer and rested his hand gently on her waist. "But can you blame me?"
She shook her head with a laugh and allowed herself to lean into him. "No. But next time, maybe don't pretend I'm still sick to keep me all to yourself."
Jace's smile finally widened. "I'll keep that in mind."
"So can I talk to you about something?"
"Everything okay?" Jace asked gently but the concern in his voice was unmistakable.
"Yeah," Grace replied. "It's just that I was wondering if I could get your permission to send Charles to school and pick him up in the afternoon everyday."
"And where is this coming from? I thought we had this all settled?"
"I know, but..."
"Go on," Jace urged when Grace trailed off. He wanted to know what was so special about the kindergarten that she was finding it difficult to break away from.
