"Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen. We have prepared your places. Please follow me." The young woman in the servant's uniform greeted them warmly and politely, interrupting the goddess's babbling.
"Again and again. 'Follow my lead' huh? If the same thing happens again, you'll get your comeuppance with that little jerk of a man, little girl." Cytherea muttered, her palms turning red.
For now, Xavier was still tolerating her behaviour though she did not know where his patience would be tested.
They started to enter the bar, but as far as Cytherea could see not a single table was empty or left for them. Even under the slightly dim light, her hair shone though not as brightly as before. It drew the attention of the bar patrons even though she already had Xavier behind her ready to temper her emotions when she suddenly felt uncomfortable with the current situation.
Following the waitress who said nothing at all and continued to walk past the various tables. They could see a lot of drunks from beginners to those who were born to finish their stock of beer. Beginners usually had just one glass or one bottle to warm up their bodies and tried not to overdo it to the point of losing consciousness.
On the other side, there was a table filled with bottles and cigarettes scattered on the table and floor. One of them seemed unable to lift his body and chose to lie on the floor while delirious. His face was red and his eyes could not open wide. To the goddess, people like them were enough reason to leave this place immediately.
The waitress walked over to a door behind the bartender. There was a PIN door lock as one of the safeguards against poor drunks trying to enter the room. The waitress' hands danced skilfully and quickly over the different numbers. Even Cytherea's eyes could not keep up with her movements and could not memorise the number of numbers pressed.
Suddenly, the sound of success was heard and the servant moved the door slowly. They were allowed to enter unconditionally and from there they could witness two different realms at once. The atmosphere behind the door was calm and peaceful. Even though all the tables were reserved, there was no noise at all and the guests were respectful of the peace created by each other.
Cytherea's face lit up a little, her breathing much easier and longer as if she had escaped from Azazil's torment. Looking at each guest's behaviour, Xavier concluded that they were VIP guests and dared to pay money for a warm environment. The decoration of the space back there was also more neat and clean. Anyone would be comfortable even if it was just to observe a dozen paintings that had different art in one corner of the room.
Their every action was careful and elegant enough for the upper middle class. Even the arrival of Xavier and Cytherea did not faze either of them. The waitress still took the lead, heading back to a door at the far end of the building. It looked quite dark and suspicious, his gut feeling told him it was a private room that no one could visit even if they were paid a large sum of money.
Once in front of the mysterious door, the maid knocked 4 times with a slightly complicated tempo. It was like some kind of code to meet the occupant of the room. Then they could hear footsteps that were so heavy that they shook the floor.
'Is this room a monster breeding ground? It's very shaking.' Xavier could not wait to see the figure behind the door.
When the steps stopped, the doorknob slammed to the side surprisingly fast. Cytherea felt her heartbeat almost skip a beat for a few seconds, while Xavier and the waiter in front of her looked calm even though their legs were trembling slightly.
"Who dares to interrupt?" said the woman behind the door.
Her body was very tall. They had to look up to see her eyes. Her hair was dull and wavy, her breasts so large that they slightly covered her stomach. Standing barefoot and in tattered clothes, Xavier could see that her body was quite white and smooth although it did not make him lustful at all.
She did not leave the room in the slightest but her knees were forced to bend, observing the familiar faces of the hoverer and the two strangers behind.
"What do they have to do with Big Boss?!" her voice was defiant and harsh.
"They are respected people and his acquaintances. There's no way you're going to destroy them in front of the Big Boss, Jack. I'm sure the Big Boss has warned you not to scare anyone who wants to see him. Tonight, your salmon ration will be less and less than yesterday!" The small-looking servant in front of her didn't flinch in the slightest, threatening her instead.
Surprisingly, the tall and large woman immediately pouted and admitted her mistake. She then removed herself from the presence of those who were about to meet the 'Big Boss'.
The goddess repeatedly gulped down her saliva, wishing she hadn't been stepped on with big feet full of dirt and rubbish still clinging on.
'How did people like her end up in a place like this? Can't their Big Boss build a cage for this golem or his guards?' Cytherea said that inwardly, if it was said openly, her fate was already in sight even if she had not imagined it.
Meanwhile, Xavier continued to show a confused face. His eyes were blinking repeatedly and his mouth was slightly gaping. His brain seemed to be slow to respond to the events just now.
'The market leader's bodyguard is a giant woman... or big? I thought giants were about 7-8 metres tall. Did I misread about them back then? And strangely, that woman was named Jack? I've met someone who likes to give nonsensical nicknames, but is it him?'
Xavier shook his head, he started to walk away when Cytherea and the barmaid entered the room first. From there they could see the figure of a little old man who was enjoying hot tea in a cup while spreading his legs at the foot of the table.
His face looked relieved and welcomed them, quite formally.
"Oh, you've finally arrived," he said as he pointed to the large table behind him. "This is the man you've been looking for."
