Chapitre 25: Lower Bar

"You seem to trust me a lot." The little old man chuckled softly under the cloak that almost completely covered his body.

After all, they had followed him this far and were somewhat aware of his intentions. There were no irregularities so far and lately the little old man seemed to be opening up to them. This is a very basic human cycle when meeting a figure they are new to.

The next second they began to walk down the narrow street with their bodies not once nudging the shoulders and hands of people in the opposite direction. Some of their gazes were ordinary but if the collision shook their balance a little, even their gazes were more terrifying than a bloodthirsty wild animal.

Cytherea did not understand why the hiding place was always obstructed with something that made her uncomfortable. She even almost took off her cloak, almost losing her air completely. But Xavier instantly covered her face again before the situation around them was completely safe and no one would ever recognise her.

'I know the people here and in the village are very different. But there's no way one of them won't recognise her. It would be a new problem if the mastermind of the village's troubles appeared in the midst of his followers.'

Xavier and Cytherea tried not to steal the attention of the people there, but it made him a little furious when Cytherea's hair lit up rather brightly so that it greatly disturbed their vision with such a narrow space.

She had tried to dim the glow but it could not be eliminated on her own terms. As her partner, Xavier certainly didn't mind if he had to forcefully cut his hair or put it in a wooden basket to avoid attracting attention. Because not a few of them started talking about a miracle or a good omen for the locals. It's just that his current ability is devoted to getting rid of anything that stands in his way, not to being a hero or helping people.

Some even took the time to hold her hair that could not be covered by her cloak. The unclean hands of the underground citizens ran their hands through her hair many times, as if she was worshipping it. Cytherea felt disturbed and uncomfortable and spontaneously unleashed her divine ability. No light or prophecy came out, but the victim could feel a great pressure in the abdomen as if all the stomach contents were forced out of the mouth.

The victim did not bounce or fall, but all the witnesses on the spot could see the blood flowing profusely, resulting in a coughing fit that could not be stopped. The blow seemed to be embedded with a poison because the blood was pitch black and disgusting. Instantly the victim lay on the ground, whimpering in pain while rubbing his empty stomach. The right hand tried to reach out to everyone there but no one cared.

The witnesses already know who is the real victim or perpetrator. There was no law in this place so any violence would not be penalised.

"Look how stupid that person is. Who would dare to hold a stranger's body."

"What a barbaric, outrageous act. If I were that woman, I would probably do the same thing."

The whispers of the citizens began to ring in Xavier and Cytherea's ears. Their demeanour remained calm and they slightly moved away from the perpetrator as his blood flowed faster than they expected.

"Behave yourself, pervert. It's still lucky I gave you a chance to live. Confess your sins and don't repeat the same mistakes."

Xavier smiled a little. It was a rather clichéd advice that had no effect on someone who already had a cruel heart. He could see the face of the perpetrator who was not at all sorry for what he had done, but rather trying to get help from the witnesses despite the futility of doing so.

From the moment she left the hallway, the goddess had already assumed that she was not worthy of travelling through this place. She maintained her perfection as one of the goddesses while at the same time looking down on everything that was not in her favour. The very picture of a goddess who craves validation.

"Let this person try. We'll continue." The little old man already understood every behaviour and environment of the citizens, it was only natural that he asked them to ignore the culprit.

They were forced to stop when Xavier almost hit a little old man. To their left was a bar. For the first time since they came, they saw a building that was worth walking through. There was little to distinguish it from the stand or building in front of it but still the bar had no branding or signage.

From the outside, they could see how full every table was. It was beyond Xavier's expectation as to why such a place would be so crowded that the queue was quite long.

"I'll leave you here," said the little old man.

"What do you mean, where are you going?" asked Cytherea, her foreboding beginning to shake her composure.

"I have business with someone inside. Besides, I don't know if that person is having guests or not."

Xavier nodded, understanding what the little old man meant. It was just that his partner continued to grumble and berate him. The little old man ignored whatever Cytherea said and left them with small steps.

"What are you doing? Lower your hand or the information we want will be gone in an instant." Xavier withdrew his hand but the goddess continued to resist.

"Let me burn her little body for playing with a goddess' time."

"No one cares who you are in this place. You have only thwarted our plans and your life has been made miserable by Azazil's glory."

Hearing the name of the Great Demon Lord, the goddess was instantly stunned, her hands immediately lowered and her face tried to be calm as if there was no commotion disturbing the queue.

After all, no matter how hard Cytherea rebelled, in terms of strength, Xavier was superior and even his hands were not burdened at all.

'Very light,' he said.

Trying not to burn down the entire building, it would cost them dearly and incur sanctions that they would not be able to resolve for 15 years.

"This can't be allowed. I don't want to be the concern of perverted men any more than this." Cytherea was uncomfortable.

"Come on, why can't you wait a little longer?"

"A little longer? I've even fought for 500 years and that little bastard has shown absolutely nothing... "

Instantly stopped by the sight of someone coming towards them.
