Adeline couldn't move. She would just fall if she tried.
Her life felt completely ruined, and it didn't seem like it would be fixed any time soon. If she knew things would be this way, she would have never left him. She would have stayed with him regardless of how much space she craved.
He wouldn't be this way toward her forever, right? Things would improve, right? And he would go back to loving her just as he used to back then, right?
But, oh, he did love her. The man was rather hurt—something he knew he needed to heal from, and the person who was going to do it had been given back to him.
All it was going to take was just a bit more time.
Dropping into bed tiredly, Adeline wasn't sure when she ended up falling asleep with teary, puffy eyes.
