It had been a week, and not a day had passed without Dimitri finding new ways to make Adeline's life miserable.
It was for his pleasure and entertainment. But recently, he'd been fearing that she was begining to get ahead of him so much that nothing he did produced the sort of reaction he wanted from her.
He'd constantly brought the blondie, but even still, Adeline paid them no heed as if they didn't exist and this was frustrating him.
Tonight, Adeline was standing in front of the long mirror in her room, clad in a perfectly fitted red dress that outlined her lovely curves. It had a deep sweetheart neckline.
The side of the dress was slit all the way to her upper thigh, exposing a good amount of her skin.
Her arms were completely covered by the long arms of the dress, keeping her little cut wounds hidden.
The small cuts she had right above her nose was covered by a band-aid, but the one she used to have on her forehead was gone.
Adeline's lips curled into a smirk, and she locked the fine necklace with a heart pendant around her neck. She slipped her feet right into her red heels, and took a step back, taking a moment to admire herself and examine her looks.
The sudden familiar sounds of footsteps had her arrowing her brow, and she turned, coming face-to-face with Dimitri, who had entered the room.
Dimitri's eyes trailed from her honey-brown pupils, down to her red-painted lips, her collarbones, and all across her slender, curvy figure.
He didn't say a word, but Adeline could guess the thoughts running through his head. The man was going to say something nasty to mess up how she felt about herself that night.
However, Adeline wasn't going to let him. She would be one step ahead.
Grinning, she asked, "Do I look beautiful?"
Dimitri met her eyes. "You're high out of your mind," he muttered. "Where the hell are you going?"
"Why do you want to know?" Adeline innocently stared up at him, hands behind her back.
"Are you out of your mind?" Dimitri was suddenly pissed off. "Where the fuck are you going?" he repeated his question.
A smile spread across Adeline's face and she walked towards him until they were just an inch apart. Her arms circled his neck, and she moved closer, so her teeth nibbled his lip but not to kiss him. "Where else if not to have fun?"
"Fun?" Dimitri lowered his gaze, glimpsing her face with a wrinkled forehead. He looked irritated, but he wasn't pushing her off.
"You've finally dropped the innocent act, huh? No longer against my decision," he said, smiling in disdain. "About fucking time."
Adeline narrowed her eyes, a deep breath exiting her nose.
"You know, I'm not really sure why your eyes tell me you want to pin me down right here and fuck me." She could see something disdainful flash in his eyes at her words, but she wasn't going to stop.
"What a pity...." She paused and tangled her fingers in his hair. "…You won't be the one getting to do it. But, except in your dreams."
Her bubbly chuckle was hearty as she pressed her hands against his chest, to push him off. "I'm just taking your advice, Dimitri. There is no point in being against the idea if you wouldn't even change your mind. I might as well enjoy and see what I can do with it. It may not be so bad, I could never know."
She grabbed her purse from the table and proceeded to leave the room, but Dimitri snatched her wrist, stopping her. "You're not going anywhere."
"And why is that?" Adeline came to a halt and tilted her head back to look at his face. "Don't you want me to go? Are you jealous? Do you want me to stay back with you?" The taunting in her voice could be heard, that it immediately snapped Dimitri back to reality
He was quick to let go of her hand, his face scrunching into a deep frown.
"Go and fuck whoever you want! I have a business to take care of. This little much joy is probably the least you could get. Pathetic!" he snorted irately, storming out of the room with his hands stuffed into the pocket of his pants.
As soon as he was out of sight, Adeline smiled coldly to herself, her eyes crinkling drastically.
"What a terrible liar you are. I wonder whose pathetic between the both of us." Her grip on her purse tightened, and she left the room, making her way down to the last floor and out of the mansion.
She approached the black BMW parked by the side and ready for her.
Mr. Sokolov, who'd been waiting, bowed to her.
"Good evening, Mrs. Adeline." He opened the door for her.
"Good evening, Sokolov." Adeline entered the car, taking her seat.
Sokolov shut the door and moved to the driver's spot, turning the engine on.
With a careful reverse, he drove over the water fountain in the middle of the vast compound and sped out into the road.
Amidst the ride, Adeline moved closer all of a sudden and dropped her head against the front passenger seat. She stared at Sokolov's slightly wrinkled face for a few seconds and called in a singy, songy voice, "So...Ko…Lov."
"Yes, Mrs. Adeline," Sokolov answered, his focus on the road ahead of them.
Adeline smiled, adjusting closer. "Would you ever betray me?"
Sokolov blinked rapidly at her abrupt question, but he didn't glance at her.
"No." He shook his head, his eyes filled with utmost sincerity. "I have worked for your father in secret for years, so I would never betray or turn my back on him now. You are a part of my responsibility, and keeping you safe is my top priority."
"I made him a promise to ensure your safety, which I will keep till the end. So, don't worry, I've never thought, nor will I ever have any intention of betraying you."
Adeline's lips arched into a gentle smile, and she reached out her hand. "Give me your phone and make a stop right here."
Sokolov turned the steering wheel and drove off the center of the road to park by the side. He grabbed his phone from his pocket, unlocked it, and handed it over to her.
Adeline received the phone and pulled out the card that Caesar had given her. Her eyes scanned as she dialed the number, and once it began to ring, she brought the phone close to her ear.
"Hello." She spoke the moment the call was answered. "It's Adeline speaking."
There was no response for a few moments before that familiar, throaty chuckle rang in her ears.
"I guess you've made your decision." The voice from the other side of the phone belonged to Caesar.
"I have," Adeline affirmed. "Where do I meet you?"
"Are you on your way?"
"Yes," she replied.
"Meet me at 'Mishel.' I'll arrive there in thirty minutes…before you, of course."
"Okay." Adeline hung up and deleted the call history. She handed the phone back to Sokolov with an appreciative smile. "Take me to Mishel."
"The French restaurant?" Mr. Sokolov enquired as he started the car engine.
Adeline gave a nod and pulled back to relax on the seat.
Mr. Sokolov glanced behind them through the rearview mirror and sped off down the road.
