Chapitre 8: Episode 8: At The Damn Worst Times

Episode 8: At The Damn Worst Times

The zombie swarm charges forward madly, viscous drool dripping down the sides of their faces. The only thing that gave Kilr a saving grace was that the zombies had bumped into each other at the moment.

"S**t!" He cursed as he tried to pull the door close, but the zombies were considerably stronger than him, so he steeled his knees and pressed his back against it. "Just when I was starting to wonder where these zombies all went!"

----------------------------------

<You have encountered a low-level zombie ×13>

----------------------------------

Kilr cried silently, the numbers were very much against their favour. Narci stepped before him with her eyes flashing with rage of rage interwoven with certainty. "I think I might be able to take 'em on if you have a weapon!!" Kilr wasn't sure if she was serious or pulling a cheerleader stunt.

The zombies snarled as they clawed the air, pushing against him. His eyes scanned everywhere for any possible way to fight back but… he might as well! He summoned one of the rusty daggers he had looted from the goblins and she snatched it midair.

"It's the best I've got!" He said with a firm voice before she could utter a complaint. She eye it for a long while which pissed him off. "Would you just kill it?"

Narci Black gripped the dagger in her right hand and widened her stance, "Open the door!" She said like an anime character on steroids.

Kilr's jaw dropped and his eyes popped. "Hell no! I ain't dying for your sorry ass!"

Narci still stood her ground. "Remember back then two years ago in the basketball court? You are a slacker right? But you're strong!" Her eyes brimmed with a strong willpower he could sense. "If this is the beginning of the end of the world at least let me do one damn thing for the first time in my life! Move aside you slacker!"

Kilr complied and jumped away from the door. Not because she ordered him to but because it would be highly disadvantageous if the zombies came through and he was still stuck there.

"Whatever you're going to do…" Kilr extended his hand and summoned a rusty daggers in both hands. "I've got your back!"

Narci kicked forward at the first zombie that came bustling through the door, her footwork was like the delicate brush strokes of an artist. She glided forward and stabbed the dagger in the zombies head sending a fountain of red and green squirting out of it's head.

Kilr froze for a bit from shock. "So swordsman class moves different too? Or is it instinctive!" He envied her class very much. But there was no use sulking over such bulls**t now!

Other zombies came bustling through overwhelming them in their sheer numbers. Having Narci leading the assault made dealing with them much easier. The number of zombies had dropped by half Kilr was much more confident in their combined power but for a reason Narci Black froze.

Narci Black looked down at the hand that gripped the rusty dagger shaking violently. Her heart was thumping hard against her ribcage, "No! Not this!"

Kilr knew he had to take action.

Another reason he loved being a loner… people were unreliable at the damn worst times! He charged forward at the six remaining zombies unsure of what strategy would prove most effective at the moment but came up with none.

He stood before Narci, her eyes white as if they had seen death. He was running low on stamina too and he had lost his main attack force. Just when everything seemed grim he remembered something…

Kilr pinched his fingers together, "Might as well try it now…!"

And the box showed before him.

All of a sudden the zombies slowed to a stop as if they had been put on pause, a cool wind carrying the sense of death emanated through the entire room.

-------------------------------

<You have initiated "Suppression Of The Dead Lv. 1>

<Due to high number of zombies your mana is depleting at a rapid rate>

---------------------------------

Kilr found it hard to move, his head felt weighed down by an anchor. He couldn't explain it well but he felt chained to the zombies somehow. "What the hell is this pressure?" He spoke to Narci without looking back for fear of the zombies springing back to life. "I know you can hear me, Narci wake up and f**king take down these things!"

Narci's mind was a blank. The power Kilr emanated put a bit of a lock on her heart but that was not why she froze.

"F**k! Why did I have to come to school today?"

-------------------------

<Your mana has fallen below the required threshold of skill activation>

<Burden will be reduced on skill>

<Dead under suppression 4/6>

-----------------------------

Two zombies slowly spring back to life only to be greeted by Kilr's rusty dagger. He stabbed the first one in the eye and locked it, the second one rambled in his direction like a mad animal prompting Kilr to kick the first away and summon a second dagger.

The second one was a female senior from the business class, Kilr could tell because he spilled soda on her a while back. But he did not hesitate because of that and drive the dagger right into her throat as red and green blood squirt on his face.

"D**n!" He thought. "When did I become so cynical?"

The zombie did not die instantly and kept pushing forward causing the dagger to rip the skin of it's neck. A monstrous growl escaped it's throat as it's legs slowed to a stop and fell backwards.

Kilr fell on his haunches gasping for her. He could feel a deep fog in his head clouding his thoughts. It felt like having a pop quiz in the dining hall.
