Tied with red silk, one hundred and twenty dowries filled the courtyard of the Mo Family to the brim. Half of these were gifts sent by the Mo Family to the Cui family as bride price, and the other half were additional dowries provided by the Cui family.
In these bride prices and dowries, not a single item was shoddy; hence, the collection was exceptionally lavish. Even without opening the wooden chests and deliberately displaying the contents for show, the relatives, friends, and neighbors who came to witness the event had no doubts about the value of these dowries.
"I've lived to a ripe old age and thought I'd seen it all, but only today did I realize that what I had seen before isn't worth mentioning in the face of these dowries."
"Who's to say otherwise? This is what real wealthy families are like; a single dowry can sustain several generations."
