Chapitre 2: Chapter 2: Fleeing Misfortune (2)_1

Seeing Mo Yan looking around, Mo Xin seemed to guess what she was thinking and clung to her arm, explaining desperately, "Big sister, Daddy went to find food. He said you fainted because you were starving, and you shouldn't leave your food for me and little brother anymore. If, if you don't wake up... we, we..."

Just thinking about how her sister had secretly saved food for her and her little brother, nearly starving to death herself, Mo Xin choked up and couldn't speak. Watching her sister lying there unconscious, she had almost lost the will to go on.

Mo Yan's nose tingled, and once more, that unfamiliar surge of emotions spread within her. She subconsciously raised her hand to touch Mo Xin's head. Noticing something unusual about herself, she paused, then continued comforting the sensible little girl.

But the current situation filled her with worry.

Having fled from the remote Mo Family Village over a month ago, even with the most frugal use, their scant provisions had run out.

In order for her younger siblings to have more to eat, the original host had divided her portion in half for them, leading to a rapid decline in her physical condition until she finally fainted from hunger, never to wake up again...

Thinking of this, Mo Yan touched her right palm with her left hand, a gesture she made subconsciously whenever she faced difficulties.

But what was this raised area on her right palm? She clearly remembered that the original host didn't have this. Could it be...

Mo Yan was shocked, quickly looking down. When she saw the familiar mark on her palm, a torrent of joy flooded her heart:

The Ancient Jade Mark that had been with her for over a decade in her previous life had actually reborn with her!

Suppressing her excitement, Mo Yan took a deep breath to calm herself, a radiant smile spreading across her face—the Space was still there, what else did she have to worry about?

"Yanyan, Yanyan, you're awake!"

Just then, a voice filled with surprise came from behind her, interrupting Mo Yan's thoughts.

"Ah, it's Daddy coming back, big sister, second sister, look, he's carrying something in his hand!"

Mo Zhen was the first to spot their father returning from foraging and couldn't help but cheer upon seeing something in his hand.

Upon hearing this, Mo Yan turned her head and saw a gaunt yet handsome middle-aged man striding toward them. A flood of memories rushed into her mind; this beautiful middle-aged uncle was the body's original Scholar father—Mo Qingze.

As Mo Qingze approached and saw his eldest daughter awake, the worry that had been weighing on him fell away. He stroked his daughter's head, and for the first time in over a month, a smile rose from the bottom of his heart, "It's good you're awake, it's good. I've found a rabbit. You'll have to eat a bit more when it's ready!"

However, Mo Yan was stunned. With a lump in her throat, she threw herself into the man's arms, the words "Daddy" slipping out.

Feeling his daughter's dependency, Mo Qingze was taken aback, subconsciously ignoring the term "Daddy." He freed one hand to gently pat her shoulder, comforting her, "Daddy is here, it's okay, everything's okay!"

Mo Yan's eyes reddened, her heart aching. She knew perfectly well that this man wasn't her cultured and kind father, yet seeing this man who bore a resemblance to her dad, she couldn't control her emotions. She wouldn't see her father or those dear relatives who cherished her like a treasure ever again.

Seeing that his daughter had been silent for quite some time, Mo Qingze asked with concern, "Yanyan, are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

The man's nervousness filled Mo Yan with a warm feeling. She stepped out of his embrace, looked up at the familiar face, and shook her head, "I'm not uncomfortable, I just woke up and feel a bit dizzy."

Mo Qingze touched her head, saw no signs of fever, and finally eased his mind, speaking gently, "You're starving, sit down and rest a while, Daddy will go stew the rabbit, and there will be food soon."

Mo Yan nodded, a pang of guilt in her heart. This man was not her father, but he was a good father who loved his daughter dearly. If he knew his own daughter was no longer in this world, he would surely be as heartbroken as her father had been when he lost him.

"Yay, yay, we're going to have meat!" Mo Zhen cheered loudly, his eyes shining as he stared at the rabbit, unwittingly licking his lips as if the rabbit had already turned into a pot of delicious cooked meat.

Mo Xin unconsciously swallowed as well but teased her brother by tapping his forehead and saying, "Greedy cat!"

With only the rabbit in his eyes, Mo Zhen paid no attention to his sister's teasing.

The siblings' reactions made Mo Yan's heart ache; the rabbit was so skinny and small, barely having any meat, yet it satisfied this family so much...

While Mo Qingze was busy cleaning the rabbit, Mo Yan found an excuse to go to a secluded spot. Seeing no one around, she couldn't wait to touch the palm of her hand and silently thought, "Enter," and in an instant, her entire being disappeared from the spot.

"Dammit—ahh—"

Staring at the Space devoid of even a blade of grass, Mo Yan stood there dumbfounded. Even the typically composed her could not help but curse aloud!

What does "Years of hard work gone in an instant, back to square one" mean?

This was it!

Before she traveled through time, her Space had evolved to thousands of acres, not only with mountains and a Spiritual Spring but also with vast orchards, precious herb gardens, green vegetable plots, and breeding farms. But now, all that was left was barely an acre; the orchards, herb gardens, breeding farms had vanished without a trace, not even a cabbage remained, everything had returned to how it was when she first opened the Space in her previous life.

With tears in her eyes, Mo Yan clung to the last shred of hope as she walked over to the Jade Table, the size of a large millstone at the center. Seeing the flawless, translucent pearl in the groove emitting a gentle glow, she let out a long sigh of relief.

Without any hesitation, she bit her finger and dropped blood on the pearl.

As it was soaked with fresh blood, brilliant white light burst forth from the pearl, instantly filling the entire Space.

Mo Yan didn't let go. She closed her eyes, almost enjoying the bath of white light, with a serene smile on her face.

However, it didn't take long before Mo Yan couldn't smile anymore. She opened her eyes in disbelief, looking at the pearl that was still bursting with white light, her face as white as paper, her frail body swaying, barely able to stand. She struggled to pull her hand back, but the pearl was like a powerful magnet, not budging no matter how hard she tried!

Oh crap, she wasn't going to turn into a mummy now, was she?

That was Mo Yan's last thought before she fainted...
