Chapitre 75: New world..

As the portal enveloped us in its swirling vortex of light and energy, I found myself face-to-face with Alina, her presence a comforting support in the chaos of the transition between realms.

"Alina," I breathed, my voice barely audible over the roar of the portal's energy. "What are you doing here?"

She met my gaze with a mixture of determination and resolve, with an intensity that matched my own. "I could not let you face this alone, Magnus," she said, her voice coming through loud and clear over the roar of the portal. "Not when there's so much at stake."

The portal's energy began to surge around us, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of frustration at Alina's presence. While her determination was admirable, I couldn't shake the sense of unease that lingered within me, knowing the dangers that lay ahead.

"Alina, you shouldn't have come," I insisted, my voice filled with urgency as I reached out to grasp her hand, attempting to pull her back from the swirling vortex. "This journey is too perilous and unpredictable. I can't risk your safety."

But Alina's grip on my hand remained steadfast, her eyes blazing with an unwavering resolve. "I understand the risks, Magnus," she replied, her voice unwavering in its conviction. "But I refuse to let you face them alone. We're a team, remember?"

I sighed, torn between my desire to protect her and my inability to deny the strength of her resolve. "I know we're a team, Alina," I conceded, my voice softening with resignation. "But this time... this time, I have to go alone."

Her expression hardened, a stubborn set to her jaw as she shook her head defiantly. "No, Magnus," she countered, her voice tinged with frustration. "I won't let you shut me out. Whatever dangers lie ahead, we'll face them together."

I met her gaze, the weight of her determination pressing down on me like a heavy burden. "Alina, please," I pleaded, my voice filled with desperation. "I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you. I need to do this alone."

But Alina's resolve remained unyielding, her grip on my hand tightening with determination. "I'm not going anywhere, Magnus," she declared, her voice filled with unwavering certainty. "Not now, not ever."

As our conversation reached its peak, the swirling vortex of the portal seemed to intensify, its energy crackling with an almost obvious force. Before I could utter another word, a sudden surge of energy engulfed us, tearing us apart with a force that sent us hurtling in opposite directions.

I reached out for Alina, my fingers grazing empty air as she vanished from my sight in a blur of light and color. "Alina!" I called out, my voice lost in the chaos of the portal's roar.

But it was too late. The portal's energy had already pulled us apart, casting us into the vast expanse of the unknown with a cruel twist of fate.

----------------------------

As I tumbled through the swirling vortex, my mind reeled with a dizzying range of emotions—fear, uncertainty, and, above all, a profound sense of loss at being separated from Alina.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the swirling vortex of energy dissipated, leaving me alone in a strange and unfamiliar world, my memories fragmented, and my identity stripped away.

As I blinked, trying to make sense of my new surroundings, I found myself standing in the midst of a bustling city teeming with life and energy. Tall buildings loomed overhead, their glass facades reflecting the neon glow of the streetlights below. People bustled past me, their faces a blur of motion and color as they went about their daily lives.

Taking a moment to gather my bearings, I realized with a start that I had been reincarnated into the body of a young man named Magnus, a character in the novel "Chronicle of Shadows."

Oh, we have the same name!

In the world of "Chronicle of Shadows," Magnus was a skilled swordsman, renowned for his bravery and cunning in battle. He was a member of the Shadow Guard, an elite group of warriors tasked with protecting the realm from dark forces that threatened to engulf it.

Suddenly, my phone started to ring. It was a call from a person named Marcus.

I quickly remembered my sister mentioning a sad story about Magnus.

Marcus had been like a brother to Magnus, a steadfast ally in the face of adversity. Together, they had weathered countless battles and shared in each other's triumphs and failures. Under the surface of friendship, however, envy grew like poison in Marcus's heart, devouring him as he saw Magnus's skill and fame.

Marcus had planned a scheme to discredit Magnus, question his allegiance, and cause strife among their allies because he was driven by his own ambition and desire for power. And when the time came to stand by Magnus's side in battle, Marcus turned his back on him, leaving him to face the enemy alone.

I could feel the sting of Marcus' betrayal.

---------------------------

As I delved into the depths of my memory and the other Magnus' memory, I made three goals for myself.

1. Retrieving the shard before the main characters

2.Finding Alina

3.Taking revenge on Marcus

As my phone buzzed again with an incoming call, I hesitated for a moment before answering, a sinking feeling settling in the pit of my stomach as I saw Marcus's name flashing on the screen. With a resigned sigh, I swiped to accept the call, bracing myself for the inevitable confrontation.

"What do you want, Marcus?" I greeted him, my tone cold and clipped, betraying none of the unease that churned within me.

Marcus's voice crackled through the line, his words dripping with contempt and disregard. "Magnus, you fool," he sneered, his tone covered with venom. "Do you have any idea what you've done? You've thrown everything into chaos with your reckless actions."

I fought to keep my composure, refusing to let Marcus's threats get under my skin. "Chaos, Marcus?" I shot back, my voice steady despite the turmoil that raged within me. "You're the one who betrayed me, who turned your back on everything we stood for. Don't lecture me about chaos when you're the one responsible for it."

On the other end of the line, there was a momentary silence that stretched between us like a tight wire about to break. "You have no idea what you're dealing with, Magnus," Marcus hissed, his voice a low growl of warning. "You think you're so clever and so righteous. But mark my words; you'll regret crossing me."

I scoffed at his threat, a bitter smile curling at the corners of my lips. "I've already crossed you, Marcus," I replied, my voice cutting through the tension like a blade. "And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You may have thought you had me under your thumb, but you underestimated me. And now, you're the one who's scrambling to pick up the pieces."

With that final remark, I ended the call, the weight of my words hanging heavy in the air as I stared down at my phone, a sense of grim satisfaction settling over me.

With a heavy sigh, I pocketed my phone, the weight of my responsibilities pressing down on me like a leaden weight. There was still much to be done, and I couldn't afford to let my guard down, not when the stakes were so high.

--------------------------------

Navigating through the bustling streets of the city, I wove my way through crowds of pedestrians and bustling market stalls, my senses assaulted by the sights, sounds, and smells of the urban landscape. With each step, the anticipation of reaching my destination grew, driving me forward with a sense of purpose.

Stopping at a busy intersection, I glanced around, searching for any sign of the internet cafe. Spotting a friendly-looking vendor selling fresh fruit nearby, I approached him with a polite smile.

"Excuse me," I began, my voice polite but tinged with urgency. "Could you point me in the direction of the nearest internet cafe?"

The vendor nodded, his smile warm and inviting. "Of course, my friend," he replied, gesturing down the street. "Just head straight for two blocks, then take a left at the big clocktower. You can't miss it."

Thanking him enthusiastically, I set off in the direction he indicated, my steps quickening with each passing moment. As I reached the bustling avenue, I could see the imposing figure of the clocktower looming in the distance, its ornate spire reaching towards the heavens.

Following the vendor's directions, I soon found myself standing before the entrance to the internet cafe, its neon sign flickering invitingly above the doorway. With a sense of anticipation coursing through my veins, I pushed open the door and stepped inside, ready to embark on a journey of discovery and intrigue.

------------------------------

Now, as I settled in at an empty terminal, my eyes scanned the numerous topics flashing across the screen. Among them, one in particular caught my attention:

The Aurora Crystal Quest: Rumors and speculation surrounding the elusive Aurora Crystal have spread like wildfire across the internet. From theories on their origins to speculation on their powers, this topic promised to shed light on the very artifacts I sought.

In this world, the Eldorian Shard is known as the "Aurora Crystal," a name that evokes the shimmering brilliance and ethereal power contained within its crystalline form. Legends and myths abound surrounding the Aurora Crystal, with tales of its ability to harness the very essence of light and energy, granting its bearer untold power and wisdom.

As I scoured the online forums for information about the Aurora Crystal, a sense of urgency gnawed at the edges of my consciousness. I knew that time was of the essence—that I had to find the crystal before the main characters of "Chronicle of Shadows" did, lest it fall into the wrong hands and unleash untold chaos upon the realms.

Just as I was about to delve deeper into my research, a notification caught my eye—a recruitment form posted on one of the forums calling for skilled swordsmen to join a quest to find the elusive Aurora Crystal. My heart skipped a beat as I read the details, realizing with a sinking feeling that it was none other than the main character's party seeking assistance.

A wave of conflicting emotions washed over me as I grappled with the decision before me. On one hand, joining forces with the main characters could provide invaluable insights and resources in my quest to find the Aurora Crystal. But on the other hand, aligning myself with them meant risking exposure and potential betrayal, as they were likely to view me as nothing more than a rival in their own quest.

But with firm resolve, I made my decision. In this case, betrayal was driven by a singular focus on the task at hand—the retrieval of the Eldorian shard for the greater good—rather than by malice or self-interest.
