 Carissa's anticipation turned to panic as the sound of approaching footsteps shattered the intimate moment between her and David. Her eyes widened in alarm, mirroring the realization that dawned on David's face.

"David? Are you in there?" The voice outside grew louder, accompanied by insistent knocking on the door.

David's gaze darted between Carissa and the door, a mixture of frustration and urgency in his eyes. He cursed under his breath, his hand still hovering in mid-air, frozen in its intended movement.

Carissa's heart pounded in her chest as the gravity of the situation sank in. They had been so caught up in the moment that they had forgotten to close the door, leaving them exposed to whoever was on the other side.
