Upon seeing this white-haired old man, who looked no different from Earthlings, Nalan Bai was utterly baffled.
She turned her questioning gaze to Clark, only to find a playful smile hanging on the corner of his mouth.
Indeed, what a small world!
Receiving impression points from the Universal Will and automatically converting into a 'Random BGM Lottery Card'! As Clark spoke, it seemed he had not seen this kindly old man for a long time.
Patting Nalan Bai's shoulder, indicating her to stay put, Clark stepped forward, first nodding at the big-headed observer, Uatu, and then slightly bowing to the incessantly talking old man, "It's been a long time, sir."
The old man looked up at Clark, smiled, and continued his long speech about "flirting at the Stark Charity Gala" and "getting poisoned by a drink," causing Nalan Bai to suppress her laughter as the moon's surface was filled with a lively atmosphere.
Clark took this opportunity to use the 'Random BGM Lottery Card'.
The BGM entitled "Find Friends" appeared:
- Level: 1 (0/10)
- Effect: Can lock onto the location of a non-hostile character within the same city; if found before the music ends, a slight increase in favorability is achieved (Note: this effect can only be used once per person).
While the ability seemed useful, it was unfortunate that it couldn't be used against hostile factions.
Otherwise, Cassius and the Phoenix Force could all be located and eliminated...
No doubt, with Clark's famed reputation across two timelines, he was bound to accumulate plenty of impression points to max out this BGM.
The upgraded BGM still retained the same effects, now maximized:
- Level: 10 (Max Level)
- Effect: Can lock onto the location of a non-hostile character; if found before the music ends, a slight increase in favorability is achieved (Note: this effect can only be used once per person).
Does this mean that as long as the person is not hostile, they could be found anywhere within the universe?
"Mr. Clark, did you come to see me for a reason?" As Clark was studying the new BGM's functions, Uatu turned back and asked formally.
Drawing his attention back from the system interface, Clark glanced at Uatu and the talking old man.
Clark, playing it cool and pretending not to notice the implications of Uatu's words, cleared his throat and replied with a counter-question, "Previously, there was an invasion by Dormammu from the Dark Dimension on Earth. Did Mr. Uatu witness and record this event?"
Uatu nodded, "Naturally, observing and recording major events on Earth is my duty."
Clark further inquired, "During the observation of that battle, did Mr. Uatu see a Dark Apostle named Cassius escaping through a portal created by Dormammu?"
Uatu continued nodding, "I did see that, but I cannot disclose his whereabouts."
"Why not?"
Uatu matter-of-factly replied, "I am of the Watchers, sworn not to interfere with any happenings in the universe, only to observe and record. So, I'm afraid I can't assist you on this matter."
Clark, a bit exasperated yet curious, coaxed gently, "Mr. Uatu, look... I'm not asking you to interfere with Earth's development, just talking about your job. You do observe and record, don't you?"
"But the battle with Dormammu took place in the Dark Dimension, which you might not have seen clearly, right?"
"We are both significant figures in the universe, simply sharing information. I'll tell you what you didn't see, and you tell me what I missed, so we can jointly document this important history, wouldn't that be wonderful?"
Uatu remained silent for a moment, but seeing his interest piqued, Clark decided to push a bit further, "We're all divine beings of the universe, sharing information among us can hardly be considered interference, right?"
Again, Uatu shook his head, "I still cannot exchange information with you, as my duty is only to record events on Earth, whether it's your battle with Dormammu or Cassius's whereabouts, it's beyond my job responsibilities."
So, Cassius has left Earth and ventured into the universe, in places Uatu hasn't noticed?
Receiving impression points from Nalan Bai, +666!
Receiving impression points from the Universal Will and another 'Random BGM Lottery Card'!
Satisfied with his conversation, Clark didn't press further on this topic. Instead, he invited Nalan Bai to join him in chatting with the old man and Uatu, and to share some mooncakes.
After tasting the mooncake, Uatu finally dropped his stern demeanor and asked Clark, "From my observations, you seem to have precognitive abilities regarding many dangers that are about to occur on Earth."
Clark nodded, un
afraid to admit this truth; indeed, since acquiring formidable powers that no one dared provoke, he had started to act a bit like a soothsayer.
Uatu nodded in response, "Then are you aware that there is a great hidden threat on Earth, capable of plunging it into an abyss of calamity at any moment?"
The interventionist Watcher had officially entered the scene!
Clark nodded, "The matter I was asking about earlier, isn't it related to this crisis?"
Uatu shook his head, "The crisis I speak of doesn't come from Dormammu."
Clark frowned slightly, "Is it a crisis from the Phoenix?"
Uatu shook his head again, "It comes from a celestial being in the universe. His power is not as great as yours, but in our universe, killing him would not be an easy task. Over thirty years ago, he came to Earth and buried a seed capable of devouring the world in a certain place."
It's Star-Lord's father!
Clark remembered the approximate location of that seed, in Missouri, USA.
Turning his gaze, Clark's psychic energy completely locked onto the entire state of Missouri. After several searches, he turned his puzzled look toward Uatu.
Uatu shrugged helplessly, "I can't find the seed's current location either. The opponent is not weak, and to avoid accidents, he has sealed up its energy fluctuations. Unless it erupts, no one can detect its exact position."
Clark nodded in understanding, his eyes revealing a trace of murderous intent, "In that case, we must resolve this issue at its root."
Uatu nodded slightly, confident in Clark's abilities.
He believed that with just a hint from him, even if he did no further intervention, Clark could easily handle this trouble.
After all, he is a Watcher, and it's best not to intervene if possible.
Then, it was time for a festive celebration. Clark made a quick trip back to Earth, bought a large amount of mooncakes and fruits in Chinatown, and spent an unusual Mid-Autumn Festival on the moon with Nalan Bai, Uatu, and the old man.
After bidding farewell to the two Watchers and sending Nalan Bai back, Clark instructed her to rest well, then used his space abilities to directly reach beyond their individual universe.
This place, where beings of the multiverse and beyond reside, is known as the hyperdimensional space.
This is a special region that connects every parallel universe in the Marvel multiverse, yet stands apart from them.
If the Marvel multiverse is a river, then each individual universe is a bubble floating in the river, and the hyperdimensional space is all the water outside the bubbles!
Here, the powers of the strong are no longer suppressed and can even grow indefinitely.
Even Clark, a newbie at the multiverse level, finds his strength here much greater than within his individual universe. However, he does not dare to boast, for the veteran multiverse-level powerhouses are much stronger.
In his individual universe, where his power had reached the ceiling, he feared no entity.
But here, it was different. There are too many beings capable of crushing him, hidden in unknown corners. If discovered by them, Clark could not optimistically assume their intentions would be friendly.
Yet, having control over spatial abilities, he also had a certain means of self-protection. While vigilance was necessary, it was not yet time to panic.
Looking around, the area was vast, the currents filled with cosmic energy. If someone below the level of a Celestial were to come here, they would likely be ground to dust in an instant by these special currents!
In his individual universe, the precious cosmic energy was ubiquitous here.
But for the current Clark, cosmic energy could no longer significantly enhance his strength; at most, it could replenish what was consumed during battle.
Moreover, the cosmic energy here was exceptionally wild, and even for Clark, absorbing and utilizing it was not an easy task.
Not in the mood to deal with this cosmic energy, Clark recalled the appearance of the Court of Life and snapped his fingers.
Simultaneously, in the vast hyperdimensional space, joyful music suddenly played.
"Searching and searching for friends, find a good friend..."
