On his way back to the room, Clark didn't rush to use the 'Random BGM Lottery Card' he had acquired. Instead, he pondered the elder's final words, trying to decipher their meaning.
Clark usually disliked such enigmatic guessing games. However, coming from the will of the cosmic origin, he couldn't help but take it seriously.
The elder's words were too vague, and even after returning to his room, Clark couldn't come up with a satisfactory interpretation.
The lodging arranged for Clark by the esteemed celestial, Gao Tianzun, was a suite with two bedrooms and two large beds. This reflected the careful consideration he had put into accommodating Clark, uncertain of the nature of Clark's relationship with Skye.
Regardless of their relationship, the arrangement of such a room was always appropriate.
If the two were simply platonic, they could sleep separately; if they wanted to indulge in unspeakable nocturnal activities, they could freely choose either bed to battle until dawn.
However, Clark's mind wasn't really on the beds.
"Clark." As soon as the door closed, Daisy teasingly looked at Clark and said, "Having such a beautiful woman as a follower must feel great, doesn't it?"
Daisy's words finally brought Clark's mind back to reality. After a moment of surprise, he couldn't help but respond with a bitter smile, "My earlier remark was just for the sake of bargaining with Gao Tianzun. It was just a casual comment. You're not still bothered by it, are you?"
"I'm not that petty," Daisy retorted with a sly smile, then said, "I'm just curious, when you said that, were you hoping your beautiful follower would serve you in bed?"
Clark's eyes lit up, "That would be great."
"In your dreams!" Daisy turned and entered the inner room of the suite, closing the door with a loud bang. "I was just testing you, and you revealed your true colors, you lecher! To protect myself from night attacks, you better sleep outside."
Clark rubbed his nose and kindly reminded her, "That door won't stop me."
"If you dare come in, you're a beast."
"If I don't, wouldn't I be less than a beast?"
Of course, Clark was just joking.
He specifically asked Daisy to fight the first battle to gain experience against the enemy. With the big battle imminent, how could he bother her now?
Even without this reason, he wouldn't.
A gentleman at heart, Clark was always the one being pursued by beautiful women... Ahem, the previous thoughts were just an illusion.
Lying in bed, Clark remembered the 'Random BGM Lottery Card' and used it, revealing:
"The God of Gamblers" Level: 1 (1/1000) Effect: Increases luck in gambling by 40%, and enhances gambling-related skills by 40%. Cooldown: 10 days after each use.
Seeing this BGM, Clark found it amusing.
Was it unsurprising to draw this BGM on the turf of Gao Tianzun, Marvel Universe's most senior gambler?
Without further ado, Clark spent over 10 million impression points to max it out. The attributes instantly became: Increases luck in gambling by 200%, and enhances gambling-related skills by 200%.
The next morning, a new round of arena battles officially began. Invited by Gao Tianzun, Clark watched the matches in a luxurious box. However, due to mutual distrust, they sat at opposite ends of a three-meter-long sofa, maintaining a safe distance.
Daisy's first opponent was a Kree refugee, roughly equal in strength to Yon-Rogg.
For Daisy, now at a Sub-Heavenly Father level, defeating such an opponent was effortless. Even when she was a fledgling with her powers, barely beyond human capabilities, she had no difficulty dominating him.
Watching the fighters prepare, Clark, on a whim, said to Gao Tianzun, "Since we're idle, how about we bet on this match? I bet my follower will win. Let's make a small bet for fun – how about 1 billion credit points?"
Gao Tianzun diplomatically expressed that although he loved gambling, he was no fool.
This was just an appetizer. He was willing to make a big bet with Clark in the finals.
Not 1 billion credit points, but even 10 billion would be no problem.
Clark just smiled slightly and turned back to the match.
Whether to bet or not, he would decide after seeing Daisy's opponent in the finals.
Facing a contestant who couldn't even defeat Captain America barehanded, Daisy didn't even use her powers. She rushed forward at 30% of her speed and lightly threw a punch.
OK!
It seemed like she was definitely on the path to becoming a one-punch heroine.
Seeing Daisy's easy victory, Clark suggested to Gao Tianzun, "Since the battle ended so quickly, why not skip the intermission and have the next fighters start?"
Gao Tianzun, though tempted, shook his head, "It's against the rules. This isn't a tournament specially arranged for Miss Daisy. We can have her next opponent enter only after the other matches conclude and select her challenger."
So, it was a large-scale tournament.
Shaking his head, Clark continued watching the other contestants.
Gao Tianzun's organized matches, even among the universe, were top-notch. The weakest fighters were roughly at the level of the Kree contestant. The capabilities of the others varied. What caught Clark's attention was a contestant dressed like Thor, the God of Thunder, but with a horse-like face.
This wasn't an ordinary human with a long face, like Doctor Strange, but a real horse-face, resembling Sleipnir.
Recalling the giant portraits outside the Champion Tower, Clark recognized one resembling this contestant.
If nothing went awry, he was likely Daisy's final opponent.
While Clark started observing the horse-faced man, the battle in the arena began. The man wielded a hammer similar to Mjolnir, stirring the wind and thunder, channeling the power of thunder onto his hammer, and with a roar, he knocked his opponent unconscious.
This fighting style... and his familiar-looking hammer. Could this be the legendary Horse-Faced Thunder God?
Clark's knowledge of Marvel was not exhaustive. He was unaware of many obscure characters appearing only in the comics, like his aunt Monica Rambeau, whom he knew nothing about until they fought.
However, he had some recollection of the Horse-Faced Thunder God from a discussion about Thor's hammer. It said that besides Thor himself, his father, sister, girlfriend, Ultron, Black Widow, Captain America, and the Horse-Faced Thunder God, nobody could lift Mjolnir.
Impressive, right?
Clark knew about the Horse-Faced Thunder God from this post, but that was about it.
Now it seemed this god had his own hammer, with craftsmanship hinting at Nidavellir origins, and its power seemed comparable to Mjolnir's.
Over the next three days of matches, Daisy and the Horse-Faced Thunder God dominated the stage, ending their battles swiftly.
Daisy even began complaining to Clark about her weak opponents, finding them inadequate for training.
If not for the formidable Horse-Faced Thunder God, she might have lost interest in the upcoming battles.
After several warm-up matches, the final battle between Daisy and the Horse-Faced Thunder God arrived on the third night.
The arena was packed, with fans forming cheer squads, their enthusiasm surpassing that of World Cup spectators.
In Gao Tianzun's box, with everything ready, the cunning elder revisited their earlier bet: "Prince, I recall you proposed adding 1 billion to the original bet as a bonus three days ago. After observing for three days, do you still have that confidence?"
Clark smiled lightly, turning the tables, "I also remember Gao Tianzun saying he was willing to increase my 1 billion bet to 10 billion. Do you still have such confidence in the Horse-Faced Thunder God?"
"I certainly do," Gao Tianzun confidently declared. "As long as it's a fair game, I'm always willing to participate."
"Then let's bet 10 billion!"
"Agreed!"
Their bet settled, the battle between Daisy and the Horse-Faced Thunder God commenced.
It was an evenly matched fight.
Daisy, at the Sub-Heavenly Father level, was stronger in sheer power, but the Horse-Faced Thunder God had the advantage in equipment and combat experience.
The Thunder God's experience was evident, as Daisy hadn't fought an equal opponent since her upgrade. His hammer was nearly on par with Mjolnir, while Daisy's bracers, although upgraded by Eitri with Uru metal, were still just top-tier magical items, not divine artifacts.
With strengths and weaknesses on both sides, the battle was thrilling.
As the fight continued, Daisy's experience rapidly grew. However, she was initially overwhelmed by the Thunder God's combat experience.
Unless something unexpected happened, the outcome was uncertain.
This wasn't what Clark wanted.
He glanced at the composed Gao Tianzun and shook his head, "Gao Tianzun, I respect your hobby, but shouldn't you indulge one of mine? I like to play music during intense moments to set the mood, and it has to be my choice of music. You wouldn't mind, would you?"
Without hesitation, Gao Tianzun agreed, "No problem at all, Prince. Feel free."
Gao Tianzun seemed unconcerned about Clark's intention with the music, seemingly sure Clark wouldn't play any tricks.
