Chapitre 20: Reaping What You Sow

Heading upstairs, Avery Miller lingered outside the door before entering and closing it behind her. Ethan Montgomery was engrossed in documents at his desk. 

Without looking up at the sound of her footsteps, he simply beckoned her over. Obediently, Avery walked to his side, where he pulled her onto his lap.

Resting his head against her shoulder, he closed his eyes, inhaling the fragrance of her hair with a satisfied sigh before turning his attention back to the documents on the desk.

Avery glanced at the papers in his hands, filled with dense French text. Her French was poor, making it impossible for her to understand any of it.

With nothing else to do while sitting on his lap, she alternated between picking at her nails and scratching an itch, quickly frustrating the man beneath her.

Putting aside the documents, he caught her with a puzzled look in his eyes.
