Chapitre 17: 16. I DIDN'T DO IT

"Who are you?

Who am I?

Why don't I remember the 'happy' me?

When will I kill the 'lost' me?"

__

Gripping the pen tightly in her grip she continued softly scribbling on the paper as she heard the news anchor say,-

"The body was found by a family coming back at their house. They said, it was lying in the center of the road with several injuries and her many bones in her body has been broken. Cops found the victim in the same position with the family. The further investigation is still going on with the family. The victim's identity cards informed her name, Sara Rahil. Was Sara Rahil murdered? Or she was a victim of an accident? What-"

The anchor continued to spill the beans. Fear and anger settled deep into her heart as she looked at Waqas's place.

Waqas's phone rang. He frowned seeing the caller id and picked up signaling Zohra to tone down the television volume.

She padded to the sofa from the dining table and picked up remote to tone down the volume. She sat beside him quietly. He motioned her to wait for a while. Her features morphed into worry and fear.

"Hmm, yeah okay." he hanged up the call and looked at her. Intertwining their hands, he pulled her into his chest making her lay her head on his heart.

"Sara is dead." the words escaped from his mouth and fall upon her like a cold bucket. Her breath quickened and she moved away from him. She quickly muttered a prayer under her breath.

"H-how?" Her barely hearable voice hit him making him tighten his hold.

"The news says it all." she never knew this can happen. She never wanted this to happen. Her fingers left his palm and held his shirt in her fist.

"Make me sleep." saying she snuggled into his chest making him wound his arms around her. He switched off the T.V. from the remote and made themselves comfortable on the sofa.

Her mind wandering to her previous conversation with her sister. She never meant it by what she said. Now, it will haunt her to death. She is responsible why Sara is dead. Soft tears pricked out, her own thoughts wetting his shirt. She didn't mean it then why she was killed.

He noticed the wetness on his shirt and rubbed her back thinking she is sad by Sara's death but who will tell him. That the remorse inside her is clawing out her heart. Remorse made her heart bleed that no other thing can.

He patted and rubbed her back in condolences and whispered sweet nothings into her ears.

"Let’s move to the small library," saying he carried her all the way upstairs.

He made her sit beside her on the ground. It was smooth, hard, and shiny. The white marble shined like star in the dark patio.

Silence covered them with a thick duvet. He cleared his throat and leaned more towards her.

"What is your dream?" He asked looking at the serene peace in front of him. It doesn't matter in which state she is. For him, she will always be the peace, he never had.

"What's a dream?" She answered in a question blinking her eyes looking at him. Gears turned in her head. Dreams, she dreamed many times. The bad and the good, both. But, what is a dream? She never knew.

He looked at her in bewilderment and replied,-

"A dream is something which you desire to do by your own self or the thing that makes you happy when you do it".

His voice was confused but, it also came out as soft lullaby.

"Oh." thinking made a nest in her mind and she thought what she really desired.

When nothing occurred in her mind, she whispered.

"That's a hard question."

Listening to her, he let out a deep throaty chuckle. Shaking his head, he laid his head in her lap.

Butterflies again thrashed against the cage as his head touched the softness of her skin covered with her nightgown.

She quietly moved her fingers in his hairs, ruffling it, massaging sometimes.

"Uhmm, this feels so good." his husky voice did something to her inner self and she tucked hard his hairs.

"Ouch, what was that?" Turning his face in her stomach, he cuddled more into her. She was glad it was all dark around here, Waqas would not be able to see how red her face is really.

"Mood swings." she squeaked when his warm breath hit her stomach. Not able to take anymore of his cuddling she pushed his head away from her lap making him hit his head on the ground.

"Ouch." he groaned in pain and she gasped at her deed.

"That was not intentional!" she was startled by her own self and cradled his head in her lap, again. Tightly holding it to her chest.

"I can't breathe." he was calm but his voice was not as she covered his whole face with her chest. His voice came out muffled and she again dropped his head, this time on her legs.

"Darling lets sleep." rubbing the sore spot on his head, he pulled her up and dragged her inside their bedroom.

"I am sorry. Trust me, I didn't do it intentionally. This is all my first time. And I was-"

"Shh." he covered her lips with his index finger motioning her to stay quiet.

"Let’s sleep. And I will only accept your apology when you will let me cuddle with you." he said, his lips twitching to the sides making her blush even more from before.

She nodded her head furiously making him chuckle. His hands found her shoulder and they walked to their sides on the bed. She slipped inside the duvet and he turned the lights off.

Jumping on the bed he moved to her side and circled his arms around pulling her into himself. A chuckle escaped from her throat and she held his waist. Both drifting to sleep.

__

Her phone rang in the wild darkness making her frown and angry at the caller.

"I didn't kill her." her sister's voice hit her ears making her close her eyes tightly and she hanged up.

Waqas nibbled on her skin in his sleep. She patted his arms and closed her eyes but that one sentence didn't let her sleep.
