The word "dungeon," a short term that defined a place filled with dangers, referred to a mysterious location hidden throughout the world of magic. No one truly knew who originally created these dungeons; there were only legends passed down through the ages.
Even though the origins of these dungeons were unknown, one thing people were certain of was that dungeons were teeming with ferocious beasts. Behind the doors of a dungeon might lie anything from unsightly goblins to savage packs of wolves ready to tear them to shreds, fiery dragons capable of incinerating them to ashes, or perhaps even demon realms where humans were seen as nothing more than food on a plate.
The type of creatures lurking behind a dungeon's door could not be determined by the magical energy emanating from it. All people could do was estimate the strength of these creatures based on the magical aura that leaked from the dungeon door.
