It was a dark, moonless, starless night, and the veil of darkness had fallen over the entire forest. The wolves’ howls echoed through the woods, the sound sending a chill down people’s spines. The cold weather prompted people to stay under their thick blankets and in the warmth of their bedrooms.
But in the night when others lay asleep, one group of people was still out, taking advantage of the darkness to carry out a certain mission. Their footsteps sounded as they inched forward as quietly and carefully as possible. Though they could not see too far ahead of them, these people were still able to move nimbly just as they would do during the daytime. Skillful as they were, not once did they trip over a twig or stumble over a stone along their way. All of these people were dressed in black from head to toe. Even their faces were covered with black scarves, with their eyes being the only visible part. The way they dressed enabled them to blend well into the darkness.
