"Thank you," Lilith whispered as I sat next to her in her Grandfather's office while we waited for everyone else to join us.
"For what?" I tilted my head to the side, surprised that she was thanking me.
"You defended me," she said as she rested her head on my chest letting out a breath.
I chuckled at her words, "You didn't need any defending, mi amor."
"He wouldn't have folded so quickly if you weren't there," she told me.
I looked at her and brushed a stray strand of hair over her ear and kissed the top of her head.
"I doubt you ever needed me, mi amor," I told her. "You're fully capable of fighting your own battles and thriving on your own."
"I do need you…" she whispered, her voice fading.
"Yes, amor?" I asked her, tilting her head to look up at me.
"I need you in my life, Alexi," she confessed making my heart beat faster.
