Chapitre 69: Chapter 68: Regret and helplessness

Since joining the war against humans, Celeka has faced numerous life-threatening situations, but he has never felt fear. On the contrary, he enjoys such battles because he knows that he will ultimately emerge victorious with his overwhelming magic and martial abilities.

So, what about now? Faced with those draconic, glowing eyes and the pressure holding him down in place, Celeka felt a chill down his spine. His instincts, honed through the war, were screaming at him to run away. But for a strange reason, his feet weren't moving. It was not just his feet; his whole body was in the same state.

"How dare you."

Celeka heard a growl from the girl.

"HOW DARE YOU, HOW DARE YOU, HOW DARE YOU!!..."

As Celeka watched, he saw the girl repeating the same line over and over again, like a broken record. He witnessed the girl's face slowly changing, her hands turning into sharp claws, her teeth sharpening, her eyes turning yellow with a draconic slit, scales starting to appear all over her body, and soon in front of Celeka was a three-story tall bulky dragon with its black wings on display, staring him down, ready to rip him apart.

Celeka feeling the point-blank bloodlust coming from the dragon, felt fear for the first time in his entire life. He instinctively knew in front of this dragon he had no chance; resistance is futile.

Celeka, upon seeing the dragon locked onto him, cursed his past self for not killing the girl at first sight due to his lustful nature. Now he is stuck dealing with this angry dragon.

(a/n: Yeah, buddy should have kept your mouth shut.)

Celeka gritted his teeth hard, almost shattering them and used all of his mana to strengthen his body, somehow pulled out his sword from his waist and readied himself to fight. He knew he couldn't win against this monster, but as a vice commander, he couldn't give up without a fight; his pride wouldn't allow it.

Right then he noticed something, smiled at Tohru, and activated his artefact again.

Booom!!

Mikhail, just after returning from watching over the supposed frontline against humans, was summoned by his lord. At first, he thought lord Freid wanted to hear the report directly from him. But to his shock, he hears a news that shook him to the core. His beloved fiancée had died.

"!!?"

The news hit him hard, his beloved to whom he had sworn himself, had died.

"How!" at that time he couldn't help but shout out.

"My lord how? How could this happen? With her, there were multiple of those mutated monsters. How could she have died in the hero's hand? Are these heroes actually that strong?" with each question he became more frantic.

Freid seeing this grief-stricken subordinate, spoke calmly, "Mikhail calm yourself. And no, it was not the heroes who had killed her. It just that an irregular had appeared."

Mikhail, "irregular."

"Yes, an irregular. Do you remember the previous failure that happened?" Freid asked.

"You mean the capture plan of the coastal city of 'Ull'," Then understanding something, his eyes widened. "You mean the one killed…"

"Yes," Freid spoke, "the one thwarted that plan and killed the recruited hero, Reiss and the one responsible for killing Cattleya is the same, an irregular. Who needs to be judged by our god's hand? It is what our god wishes for."

"And for me to present the irregular in front of our god. I need to go to the next labyrinth. In my absence, Vice Commander Celeka will be in charge. As for you, rest and recover. After I am back, we will commence the invasion. I am quite sure the irregulars will come to stop the invasion, and for that, we need to be prepared."

Mikhail hearing the order looked down with a mix of grief and anger and bowed, "Yes my lord, I shall avenge Cattleya in the battle."

Since then, days have passed, and these days except for eating, sleeping and his regular training to hone his skills, Mikhail hasn't done much but grieve his loss.

Then suddenly, from his quarters, he heard a commotion coming from the eastern tower. He frowned, donned his armour, and headed off to where his companion was.

Riding on his mutated red wyvern he looks around and finds two beings fighting in the air. One of them was an Apostle dealing with a man in black clothes likely an intruder.

Seeing the apostle herself was dealing with the intruder, he decided to check on the other area. There he saw a girl wearing a maid outfit facing many of his soldiers and mages. The girl with frightening speed and power blitzed them and easily dispatched them.

Mikhail observing the nimbleness of the girl decided to wait for his chance to attack at an opportune time.

He then saw the girl appear in front of the castle's stairs and confronting him was Vice Commander Celeka with his own beast, the black mutated spider. It was a creature made using two of the deadliest creatures the black venom spider and the black vermin, another deadly creature with one of the hardest shells, insane heat resistance and regeneration. With the mixture of the two, that creature is one of the strongest creatures that lord Freid made.

He thought Celeka should be able to beat the girl, but to his astonishment, the girl used a breath attack, which the spider blocked, still, that lasted only a short time. The breath was just too powerful for the spider to block, so within a few seconds, it exploded, releasing smoke and dust into the air.

Mikhail, upon seeing this, readied himself, only to hear a crashing noise near the castle. Despite this distraction, he focused on the maid girl. Then, to his astonishment, he saw the girl transform into a large dragon. He was amazed to see the extinct race of dragon men here. He remembered what Lord Freid said about irregular. For a moment, he looked back to where the Apostle was fighting with the intruder and saw a man with a white mask standing in the air looking at a destroyed area, likely where the Apostle crashed.

When the masked man sensed his gaze, he looked at him. As their eyes met, Mikhail felt an overwhelming sense of dread. It wasn't just him; even his partner felt it. His partner was scared and wanted to run away, but was too afraid to move.

Then for some reason, that irregular looked away focusing on the crash site where the apostle crashed.

Mikhail seeing the irregular ignoring them relaxed and caught his breath. At this moment he did not doubt that the masked man was definitely an irregular. That overwhelming dread he felt was proof. He gritted his teeth and decided not to think about this for now. He will help the vice commander and run away.

As he observed the vice commander struggle, he found an opportune moment and signalled his wyvern. The wyvern then charged and fired a breath akin to a red-hot laser.

Booom!!

While Tohru was focused on the bug in front, she felt a slight burning sensation near her waist. This annoyed her, and she lost sight of Celeka.

Celeka, seeing the distracted dragon, took the opportunity to retrieve a red crystal similar to the one Rihito and Tohru used to arrive here. Without much thought, Celeka crushed the crystal, activating the embedded teleportation magic.

Tohru noticed a sudden magical fluctuation coming from Celeka. She quickly turned and attacked him with her claw, knowing she couldn't stop the teleportation. Her goal was to kill him before he could be teleported away.

But to her discontentment, Tohru only managed to rip out an arm from Celeka before he was teleported away.

"..."

Tohru realising the demon got away, roared in anger and released the draconic pressure she was holding back.

"Roar!!!"

The released pressure shook the whole castle and made the air heavy, pressing everyone to the ground. The weaker demons' bodies instantly got crushed, leaving a few strong demons immobilized.

Tohru now angry looked at the one who attacked her.

"..."

Mikhail now on the ground was immobilised, he didn't understand what happened. After helping Celeka he was ready to run. But suddenly a heavy feeling engulfed him completely and the next thing he knew he and his partner were on the ground barely alive.

"I can't move," he said trying but unable to move.

Then he saw the dragon as it breathed a fiery breath at him. At this moment, unable to move he gave up and thought. [Cattleya, I'm sorry. I failed to take revenge. I will be soon joining you.]

With that last thought Tohru flames engulfed him, instantly killing him.

Booom!!

Tohru finished the bug and then looked up to see where Rihito was, facing the winged woman. She was about to join him when Rihito contacted her.

[Tohru do not interfere. I will deal with this myself. Instead, I have another thing for you, destroy all the towers in this place.]

[Alright I will do so] Tohru gave him a mental nod.

Cutting off the telepath She looked at buildings and noticed almost every building had a tower attached to it.
