As far as I was concerned… not at all.

Given what I know about the facility and what I have seen done to the others, I think that it is a mercy for Bane's mate to have been killed early on. If not, she would have suffered years of abuse, torture, and degradation.

"No," I replied, looking up at the man who refused to look at me in my naked state. "It doesn't make you a monster; it makes you a good mate."

"I'm sorry that I didn't raise my son to treat you with the same regard; otherwise, you wouldn't be here right now. How long have you and Raphael been together?" asked the old alpha, calming down enough to sit beside me again.

"Some days, it feels like forever, and others, not long enough," I answered with a sigh. "But I am thinking half a year? Maybe less? It has to be less, right?"
