Chapitre 2524: Chapter 1759 S: Apocalypse Major Event (Twenty-Six) _1

"Let's not talk about this now." Constantine raised a hand to stop whatever Shiller was about to say next. He raised his voice, saying, "Your plan seems a bit too... too..."

Constantine stuttered until all he could manage was, "too Shiller-ish."

Everyone's gaze then shifted from Shiller to Bruce, with an expression that seemed to be saying, "it's time for you to say something, although I suggest for your personal safety and mental health you shouldn't say anything."

However, just then, Jack seemed to behave as if he had had too much to drink. He slumped over onto the single sofa's armrest, knocking his forearm into the wooden side. His unsteady grip caused his wine glass to fall and shatter on the floor.

"Oh, sorry about that," Jack immediately started laughing, and bent over to pick up the shards, seemingly tipsy. Alfred, who had been swift to act, was a step too late to stop Jack's hand.

As Jack's index finger came into contact with the largest shard from the bottom of the glass, it instantly cut him. Jack yelped in pain and began sucking the wound in his mouth.

Alfred promptly wrapped and discarded the broken pieces of the glass with a towel before fetching a small first-aid kit from another room. When Jack took his finger out of his mouth, Bruce saw his saliva and blood-covered wound and smiled faintly.

Then he looked at Shiller, who was merely looking at the screen.

On the screen, Helen and Harley were furiously discussing the feasibility of the plan depicted in the Necronomicon using dark energy. In the end, it was Harley who decisively said, "I reckon we can pull it off!"

"Then who exactly will..." Helen looked puzzled, tearing at her hair as she said: "Why not Damian? He seems to be free..."

Harley crossed her arms, shaking her head, then stared at Helen. Helen, with eyes widening in surprise, pointed to herself and asked, "Me?!"

Harley nodded enthusiastically, cutting off Helen's rebuttal to say, "Don't you think Little Bruce is hiding something from us? Did he really rid himself of the old mark of Nyarlathotep? Or did he escape the enigmatic entity in the dark space?"

"Perhaps it's possible he has the affection of both sides, and that both sides want him in return," Harley squinted her eyes, pacing in the corridor as she spoke. "He's not as simple as he seems, he definitely has something hidden to gain the upper hand, just like every Batman does."

"That's ridiculous!" Helen exclaimed, "I'm not even from this universe..."

"Helen, have you ever considered," Harley placed her hand on Helen's shoulder. "Why Spider Man can't handle the dark energy of this universe, but you can?"

"I..."

"Anyway, no matter what, you certainly share our dark attributes. That's key."

"But Damian also..."

"He's not strong enough." Harley shook her head. "Have you forgotten what's written in the plan?"

Helen had a complicated look on her face. On her way back, she wore a troubled expression. When she returned to the conference table, she banged on it, "Alright then, at least I'm definitely more fashionable than the rest of them!"

She then glared at Little Bruce who returned her gaze with a blank face, then turned his gaze back towards the map.

Harley rolled her eyes once, nudged Little Bruce with her elbow, and gestured for him to follow her.

The moment they jumped off the table, Damian was stunned. He pointed at Little Bruce, then Harley, then Little Bruce again. "Hey, you two... can you go to the bathroom together?"

"Can't we go to whisper to each other?" Harley rolled her eyes again, then delivered a blow, "Mind your own business if you've never been in love."

Damian clutched his chest and fell onto the table. Harley led Little Bruce into a side room. As she entered, she got straight to the point, "I think Helen is suspect. She pulled me into a room earlier and forced information about this book out of me. It seems like she's keen on getting it."

Little Bruce frowned at Harley as if trying to discern the truth from her statement. Harley, however, hit the nail on the head, "Don't tell me you haven't noticed. Helen isn't human, she's an enigmatic entity with a divine bloodline. This is not good news."

"I know she has been behaving well so far, but that's only because the critical moment hasn't arrived." Harley took a deep sigh. "What we're about to do is a matter of life and death. She doesn't necessarily have to confront us explicitly. Even the slightest sabotage at a critical moment will doom us."

"I won't let anyone take advantage easily." Little Bruce pursed his lips, gravely saying, "I guess I'm feeling the pressure too."

He then looked up at Harley and said, "Tell me everything you know about Helen."

"You remember the horns she revealed when she hit Weiman, right?" Harley held two fingers to her head, mimicking horns, "Based on the shape and the scales, her true form is probably not something you'd call 'cute.'"

"Moreover, she is from another universe. Unlike Aisha, whose origins we know well, her parents aren't from this universe. It's hard to say whether she would suddenly turn violent without the shackles of her kin."

"Are you trying to sow discord, to keep your book safe?" Little Bruce squinted at Harley.

Harley opened her hands and replied honestly: "I am not happy that she keeps questioning me about this book, but you must know that at least I am pure human, and I am from Gotham. Having the book in my hand is better than in that of a stranger, right?"

Harley walked around Little Bruce with her arms folded, finally standing in front of him: "I know your situation isn't as simple as you've presented, and you've undoubtedly hidden your strength in preparation for unexpected circumstances. This gives you such confidence, but I hope that your hidden strength will be focused on keeping an eye on the unstable factors in our team. I don't have your multi-tasking abilities, I can only focus on our next plan."

After some contemplation, Little Bruce decided to reveal a bit of his cards, just as Harley said, they were the deepest understanding of each other in the team, both being local Gothamites. So far, Little Bruce believed Harley was the most trustworthy person in the team.

"I made a pact with Nyarlathotep." Little Bruce didn't see any surprise on Harley's face, which confirmed his belief that Harley's wisdom matches his.

"And also made a deal with a mysterious being in the dark. Now I can use both of their powers simultaneously. The two forces within me are merging, but it is almost over. Once it's done, even I don't know how powerful I will become."

"Good, we agreed. You watch the unstable factors in the team, I will focus on our plan."

Little Bruce slightly nodded, agreeing to this arrangement. The twists and turns he experienced recently have caused him to grow quickly, and the skepticism and darkness buried deep within him slowly sprouted.

Back in the room, Little Bruce discreetly watched Helen, looking for abnormalities in her actions and words. As Helen was discussing the strength of the shield with Constantine, she felt a chill down her spine and shuddered involuntarily.

"Helen? Helen?!"

The voice of Constantine seemed to come from afar. Helen snapped back to her senses. Concerned, Constantine said: "Are you cold? I'll ask them to turn down the AC."

"No, no need." Helen shook her head.

"You've been absent-minded for several minutes." Concern filled Constantine's eyes. Unable to figure out what Helen was thinking, he suggested: "If you're tired, get some sleep. Your expression is stiff."

Helen massaged her face forcefully, sighed, and glanced at Harley with a hint of resentment. Little Bruce watched everything.

Little Bruce seemed to be discussing Gotham's current status with Damian, but he was actually watching Helen's every move. Noticing Helen's abnormality, he thought there's something indeed fishy with this creature from another universe, most likely against Harley.

Little Bruce was unsure about the origins of the book, but he sensed the discord between Helen and Harley because of it. He speculated that Helen initially discovered the book, then Harley took it, and now Helen might want it back.

Although the book was suspicious, if Helen decided to act now, it's hard to tell whether she would doom everyone in the team.

Little Bruce had a natural distrust of non-humans with divine bloodlines. As much as he hated predestinative ideas, he hated gods.

Batman naturally despised anything that remained mysterious hiding behind the fog. His near-morbid desire for control led him to reject anything he couldn't completely control, and desperately try to control it.

"I think we should talk." Little Bruce said to Helen who surprisingly agreed and followed him to the other side of the spaceship.

Damian was stunned into a monument.

Once they were in the room, Helen surprisingly went straight to the point: "Stop looking at me as if I'm a criminal. Don't you know that's very annoying?"

"Can I take your seemingly unprovoked aggression as a sign of guilt?" Little Bruce didn't back down either, he stared into Helen's eyes, attempting to detect the slightest hint of deception.

"You are the most suspicious among us!" Helen retorted after a cold snort: "You have been contacting the Outer Gods in secret. And not just one, but two. Regardless of your stories about deceiving them, you clearly made deals with both."

Did she notice too? Little Bruce thought. It wasn't that he wasn't careful enough; it seems that this creature girl is also remarkably perceptive. But it's not surprising, she has a genius father, a goddess mother, and besides her monstrous physical abilities, her wisdom is also a problem.

Without realizing it, Little Bruce had already considered Helen as an imaginary enemy. At this moment, he noticed a change in Helen's expression. Being an expert in micro-expression analysis, he found it strange that he couldn't read anything from Helen's frozen face, except for an irritating peculiarity.

That made Little Bruce very uncomfortable, so he took a deep breath, turned around and walked out of the room, leaving a phrase: "No matter what tricks you want to pull, remember, I'll be watching you."

The moment Little Bruce stepped out of the door, he thought he heard something. He faintly heard a harsh laugh coming from the room behind him.
