Chapitre 152: Reward

*Ajax*

The E rank monsters of the 10th floor seemed far tamer in comparison to the elite monster.

"Is that an ent?!" Lucy asked excitedly, pointing to a regular old tree.

"...no."

She deflated upon hearing that, for some reason having taken up the challenge of trying to find ents and forest dwellers herself.

Her justification for this was that a lot of the difficulty of those monsters came from their ability to ambush an unsuspecting person.

"That one! I saw it move!" She said excitedly.

"Yes."

I sighed in relief as she spotted it, the monster still not realizing that its cover was blown.

"Can I try 'that'?!" She asked, to which I nodded and gave her an old arrow.

Its black paint had worn, and the metallic surface had corroded from a buildup of blood. The arrowhead once sharp was now dull after constant reuse.

Lucy took the arrow in one hand as she formed an arrowhead above her other palm.

Bringing it close to the arrow, the phantasmal arrowhead melted on to the dull metal one, creating a much sharper white tipped arrow.

The mana then condensed, sticking close to the metal as it began to glow green as Lucy opened her eyes and handed the arrow back with excitement.

Nodding, I nocked the arrow carefully imbuing it with mana.

The phantasmal mana mixed well with others but too much would just break the concentration.

As always, wind guided the arrow, lessening wind resistance and precenting loss of momentum over great distances.

"SKREEE!"

The arrow flew fast yet made no sound as it cut through the air, colliding directly with the ent before it even knew what was going on.

I looked at the results with a sigh, thinking that it may be time to buy better arrows.

The tree bark of the ent had a barrel sized hole punctured through it, and after moving a bit, the monster died.

Without having to coat the arrowhead with excessive amounts of wind mana to compensate for the dull edge, it made little sound as it travelled.

The sound could be the difference between a target dodging an arrow, and not even knowing that it was coming.

I could try muffling the sound with wind but that would be much easier with sharper arrows, which unfortunately were really expensive.

If I'm going to be an executioner, I can't afford to cheap out on such things.

"There!" Lucy said with excitement pointing directly at a forest dweller who was alerted as a result.

*TWISS*

I caught a dart that was aimed at Lucy and threw it back as hard as I could, the poison attempting to burn through my gloves.

"Sorry..."

She said softly as she summoned a double-bladed axe that chased after the remaining dwellers ferociously.

Realizing that I only had one dweller left to complete the floor, I aimed at the monsters leg and fired as to not take entire credit for the kill.

"YAAA!" The beast cried in pain as it lost its leg and lower torso but not for long as an axe fell on it like an executioner's blade.

Tower System Shop upgraded to level 2!

'Right, I'd almost forgotten about that.'

I hadn't had the time to pay attention to the tower system which displayed my rankings and tower points.

2)User Store

--------------------

I'd fallen a few ranks on the first floor but that was to be expected, I was surprised I was still on there at all.

Experienced heroes like Adam and talented geniuses like Emma and Lucian were bound to take my spot.

Although, that's a lot of tower points.

"What is the user store?" Lucy asked.

"The items there are put up for sale by the players."

"So, these are like... secondhand items?"

"No. Manufacturers like Reinhold or Mitrivel also put things up for sale."

"It's like a universal shop." She said in a daze.

For me it seemed she was simply prodding and swiping thin air, but she was probably looking through the user shop.

"I really should have paid more attention to the news about the tower..." She muttered as she continued looking.

I went to the tower store as well and immediately the system displayed items that I would be interested in.

-------Tower Store-------

Tempest Iron Arrow (x100) - 500 TP (D rank)

Arrows that conduct wind mana with incredible ease.

Voidsteel Arrow (x100) - 600 TP (D rank)

Arrows that conduct dark mana with incredible ease.

Quiver of Master Fletcher - 2500 TP (C rank)

Quiver capable of producing arrows of C rank quality when fed mana.

Ullr's quiver - 6000 TP (A rank)

Quiver capable of producing arrows of A rank quality when fed mana.

--------------------

"Hah..."

I involuntarily let out a sharp breath as I began to wonder how the tower felt it was appropriate to hand these out to people who had just cleared the 10th floor.

"Found something that amazing huh?" Lucy said with a laugh at my reaction, as I nodded listlessly.

'I have to get it right? There is no reason to hesitate.'

Without further deliberation I bought Ullr's quiver, watching my tower points go to just 700 as an intense blue light shined above me.

The light then took the form of a large quiver, black leather with golden engravings and hundred or so arrows inside.

Catching it I looked at the description, hoping to find out information about its creator or origin but was met with the same description as in the store.

I tried taking out an arrow to inspect it but found a great deal of resistance as if something was countering my force.

'I see.'

Injecting my mana into the quiver, it shrunk considerably in size, now looking more fit to be used by me rather than a giant.

The arrows now came out with less resistance than normal, almost as if they heard my call and were excited to respond.

Curious I held my hand away from the quiver and called for an arrow, one instantly flew out and straight into my hand.

This suited my method of taking arrows straight from the storage ring and firing, though these arrows are incomparable.

A broadhead arrow design made of bone with a wooden shaft that seemed sturdier than any metal I'd ever seen along with a fletching was made of feathers smoother than any bird one could imagine.

The make of the arrow was far more traditional compared to my previous metallic ones, but they were far more effective.

Then, for the last test I simply fed mana to the quiver in my back and saw an arrow appear out of thin air and when I fed it more mana it produced arrows in bulk.

"That's far cooler than what I bought." Lucy said jokingly as I looked up to see neatly folded robes colored green and white along with a large mage hat.

"I am not wearing that." She said as she looked at the mage hat.
