CHAPTER SIXTEEN
"Alpha, your brother wants to see you."
"I am sure he wants to rant about something." He was always a mama's boy. "Where is he?"
"Your study."
I walked over to my office. It was better to get this over with before he did anything rash. I know my brother, and I much as he doesn't like to show it, he cares for me, and the fact that out of the blue, I brought back a woman must be concerning. I stepped into my study and there he was on my seat, turned to the window. He didn't even realize I entered.
"Should you be sitting there?" I asked. I removed my coat and dropped it on the hanger.
He stood up when he noticed me, "Well, what is the point of having the alpha as my brother if I don't sit on the alpha's seat?" he asked with a smile. "Good to have you back brother."
"Thank you. Did anything happen in my absence?" I asked as I sat down. I was just gone for four days and there is already so much work on my desk.
"Nothing I couldn't handle."
I nodded in approval.
There was an awkward silence in the room. I didn't want to say anything. If he wanted to get answers, he should ask questions.
"There anything you need to tell me?"
"Like?" I asked, behaving like I didn't already know.
"Like the announcement you made at Crescent Moon and the woman you just brought back."
"Oh, that is my Luna."
He murmured something under his breath. I didn't bother.
"So, you are saying that you go to your mortal enemy's wedding and you announce that you are going to marry the woman your mortal enemy's brother used and rejected?" he asked. He looked concerned.
"How did you get all this information?" I asked shocked. Does news travel that fast?
"That is not important what is important is that you are making a very big mistake that might jeopardize what we have built for over a decade.
"I will not let that happen!"
"Really? You are going to marry a packless maid who doesn't even have her wolf."
"That doesn't matter!"
"Really?! Well, from how I see it, she is just using you to have a good life!"
I banged my hands on the table and stood up. "That is enough!" he looked at me with those angry eyes of his.
"I know what I am doing and I will not have you question my Luna, ever!" I told him straight to his face. I understood his concerns but that doesn't mean he will look down on her. he just left and shut the door. I am sure the whole castle heard the bang on the door. He was angry. I didn't want to chase after him. I wanted him to calm down first then we would talk. Going there will only make things worse.
Moments later, Drake came in. he had that look on his face.
"If you have something to say, just say it!" I wasn't in the mood for jokes.
"His concerns are not entirely wrong, alpha. you just met this woman. What if she double-crosses you?"
They weren't wrong, what if she double-crossed me? I didn't know what exactly I felt when I saw her but all thinking vanished. All I wanted was her. I am certain she is my mate. The question here is, am I hers?
"I guess we just have to wait and find out."
After some time, I went to the bedroom and she wasn't there. I know she didn't leave the room so I went into her chambers and there she was, already asleep. She slept on the bed there. I didn't want to move her; she made her choice. Besides, the bed is big enough for her. She must have been really tired. I closed the door and left; I didn't want to disturb her.
I lay on the bed thinking, was I making a mistake? I know she was still in love with Crane. From my resources, they were young love but I hoped that in the long run, she would forget about him. I hope she will.
I woke up the next morning as early as I could. I closely opened the door to her chambers and she was still asleep. I took a bath and dressed up. I would have to clear my doubts today.
When the maids came in, I instructed them, "When she wakes up tell her we are having breakfast in the garden."
