Chapitre 2: Chapter 2: The Decision Is Final
In the Rhodes mansion;
Everyone was seated at the dinning table except Lucius, the workaholic. After dinner, everyone moved to the main hall when Lucius suddenly entered.
"You're back already?" asked Nicole, his mom receiving a simple nod as his answer as she walked towards him to collect his work bag.
"Let's have a word in the study" said his father.
"Hmmm. After you." said Lucius before following his parents.
"Why don't you want to get married my son? You are aging and you are also the heir to our family fortune." said his father upon arriving at the study.
"Yes! You also can't devote your life to the company. You have to fall in love, get married and have children and live happily. Besides you're almost 30. You aren't a child anymore. We need our grandkids soon!" added by his mother.
Lucius, who was sitting there quietly looking at them then uttered
"It's my life and I choose to do whatever I want with it. So I don't want to get married and that's my decision."
After uttering those,got up and walked towards the door.
"Well too late young man, we already found you a wife." said his father.
Lucius stop midway in limbo asking himself if he heard right. He slowly turned and asked, "What!?"
"You heard right!" Nicole intervened.
He stood there in awe and speechlessness for a while looking like someone who saw a ghost. Before he said,
"YOU DID WHAT!!?"
"Well what do you expect? You refused to get married and have children saying you don't have time for that yet you spend day and night in the company working. Your parents are also complaining and you expect us to to just sit there with our arms folded watching you end the lineage like this.
Hell no!" said Nicole in her rising anger.
"Well I told you I wasn't going to get married so you should just let Liam, my little brother marry her since he is also single and count me out." said Lucius talking back at his mom and heading towards the door.
His parents followed and right before he opened the door, he heard his mother say,
"Well if you don't marry her you will no longer be our son. We will disown you and you will lose everything you own courtesy of us and the company including your job!"
Once again their statement made him stop midway in shock.
"You will do no such thing!" Shouted Lucius in anger.
"Watch us! When we are done with you, even your shadow will run away from you! it is either you remain single for the rest of your life and lose everything you own courtesy of us or marry her and still have all your possessions. So you better marry the young lady because whether you like it or not you will be able to do nothing about it because the decision is final!" Said his father in anger.
"What do you mean by there is nothing I can do about it. It's my life and no one can control me!" Said Lucius before he walked out of the room slamming the door after him.
"Calm down honey." Said Nicole calming down her husband before saying,
"Don't worry. I will find a way to convince him."
"And how are you going to do that?" Questioned Mr. Douglas doubtfully.
"Just don't worry about it. I'm his mom and I know him best hence it wouldn't be impossible to get him to agree to it." Said Mrs. Nicole.
Just when Mrs. Nicole was about to leave, three people entered. One saying,
"Mom, dad, what did you guys do to Lucius that made him this angry? Don't tell me that you two already told him about it. We all agreed not to tell him so soon." Said Alba Rhodes, the younger sister of Lucius who is the friendliest Rhodes in the family compared to her cousins and two other brothers whom she just walked in with;
Fynn - the second son of Mr. Douglas and Mrs. Nicole Rhodes who wasn't as cold, rude and serious looking as his brother but was somehow nice to everyone and
Giovanni - normally called Gio, is a friendly and kind person, almost as friendly as his sister, who is the director of finance in the Rhodes company.
"Yes, we told him but he didn't take it lightly." Said Mrs. Nicole.
"How do you expect him to take it lightly when he's being forced to marry a stranger?" Fynn said backing his brother.
"I know son but it's for you guys good unless you want want all your hard work to go in Vien which I know you don't want." Said Nicole.
"I'll be going to his room to try to convince him. I'll be back." With that she left for Lucius' room on a mission she wasn't sure she would complete successfully.
