Chapitre 304: Vanquishing Demons

(Random Marine's Perspective)

The word had just come down from the officers that we were to get ready for a foray into a vessel. Warnings had been passed around about possible daemon incursions and the likely resistance we'll face from possessed peoples. I was nervous about all of this, I had not faced the threats of Warhammer since my training and it seemed everyone else around me was the same.

My suit was in front of my locker, the insides open for me to step into. Carefully I splayed my limbs out into the positions dictated by the suit and waited for the technology to sense my presence. With a calm buzz the suit grinded into activity as the armour soon covered my entire body, the whirring and grinding of gears echoing off of the indescribably hard metallic structure of the armour. Opening my eyes I was now seeing a heads-up display of the surroundings. Atmospheric reports, Oxygen levels, ammunition count, status of weaponry, comms link with names and the status of my own body.

Coming into the room was the Sergeant of our section of the greater Platoon. He was a grizzly man of bright red hair, bright red beard and piercing green eyes. His armour was distinct from the rest of us as it held small golden details where as mine was pure black.

"Get the fuck up! Hands off of your willies, we have an operation underway gentlemen! Follow all orders and keep your heads on a swivel! Now, get the fuck out to the beam site!"

Yelling out 'Yes Sir' we all started an orderly jog/run towards the beaming points. The ship was massive and we had been taught a number different locals around the ship where beaming could be done, the one we were heading towards was the official platform. Running through the corridors and hallways we quickly entered into a large room with a raised platform. Lining up on the platform we got very little time before the beaming started. Every one of us had our railgun in hand and ionized knives on our armour's sides.

Seconds later a purple-blue beam swallowed me and my section, our forms emerging once more within a darkened interior that slowly glowed on and off with red and yellow emergency lighting. Screams ricocheted off of the darkened sheets of metal and wide expansive hallways as blood was sprayed along them in droves, pools of crimson coagulating at our feet. Our Sergeant immediately started to list off orders, our moves becoming measured and smooth. We had done numerous, countless, training sessions on space combat, especially Inner-ship combat. Slowly we began to move forwards, our section staying in a cohesive formation as room after room was cleared.

In several of the rooms were the flayed bodies of men and women, bloods coating their deathbeds as the yellow and red glows made the entire sight more surreal. Several of the soldiers almost threw up but were stopped with the help of the armour that momentarily shocked them. The sergeant just glanced past the bodies and noted the mangled corpse of what we knew was a sister of battle. Her bolt gun was laying to her side, cut in half as her body was stabbed in several places. We secured the room and quickly moved on, finding some survivors who were mostly unconscious or heavily injured.

This movement continued until we reached a massive antechamber with impressively massive statues and columns. Gunfire rang out like a blast of lightning amidst a sunny day, fire and brimstone permeating the room as maddening cackles crisply cracked at our eardrums despite our armours ability to protect us. All of us, my fellow soldiers, we instantly ran into the room and entered into a firing line, the remaining members who couldn't enter the line looking out behind us.

Demons assaulted the remaining survivors in the room, an entire squad of Sister's of battle. They were currently embroiled in heavy combat as hundreds of demons swarmed the 4-5 remaining sisters. Our section immediately started to fire into the demon horde, the Sergeant not having to order our actions as military doctrine when it came to Warhammer 40k enemies was to shoot first and ask questions later, so long as they seemed hostile.

If the bolt rounds were equivalent to lightning cracks, our weapons were like a volcano's roar upon its revivification. Bullet-sized slabs of steel punctured the air with increasing velocity as the bodies of several demons dropped to the ground, not dead but heavily wounded. Our gun fire did not cease though, slab after slab billowing out from our rail guns as the Sergeant stood off to the side, his plasma sword alight as he stabbed a demon straight through the head. Shots started to fire off from the rear-guard of our section, the laughter and cries of demons surrounding us.

'The goddess protects...!' With fervour I started to step forwards, my convictions driving me towards the fowl beings in front of me. It was as if my mind was calling out for their deaths. The entire section began to slowly advance, the demons becoming divided between the sisters of battle and us. Golden light slowly flowed from the stained glass behind the sister's of battle as every movement of theirs, lethal as it may be, seemed to become a dance move or kata.

Our Sergeant advanced with us his helmet lightly glowing as the entire demon horde began to scream out in pain. Similar to him we activated our helmets as well, putting them into overdrive to project a field of anti-warp power. In mere moments the demons started to either disintegrate or fall dead. Our shots didn't cease though as we unloaded on the ever emerging demons. The sisters were hesitant to communicate with us but still joined us in emptying their bolters.

'She has advanced us and brought us to greater heights, we shall not betray her to false Chaotic gods!' Something within this situation had brought me to a new state of mind as it seemed the exposure to the warp, no matter how small it was, made me think of our goddess, our supreme leader, Emelia...

Hope you enjoyed! Please let me know of anything from Warhammer you would like to see, I may or may not add it... Also, I do not own Warhammer 40k or Warhammer, I only own the characters that I have personally made. Second of all, I do not claim to have 100% knowledge of Warhammer 40k law, if I get things wrong please understand that this is a fan fiction and that it is possibly an AU... Thank you all once again.
