Chapitre 35: A more peaceful existence

When Maxixe woke up Kaoma was still fast asleep. 

Both of them had already missed breakfast so they would have to wait for lunch to have their first meal of the day. 

Old Alma as usual did not knock before entering; she was one of the few that could get away with that since she helped raise Maxixe since birth.

"Come let me have a look at your injuries," she advised. 

Maxixe just wrapped the bedsheet around his waist for propriety's sake; he was too old to blush about Old Alma seeing him naked.

"So out with it, what do you think?" he asked. 

"Healing quite nicely," responded Old Alma as she poke and prodded his soft flesh.

"I'm surprised you did not open any of your old wounds with your nocturnal activities last night," she chastised. 

"Word sure got around fast," he muttered.

Even amongst his own kin not many knew that he was the current Bannik and he intended to keep it that way.
