Chapitre 7: Final Decision

After finding out that she was pregnant with William's child, Amanda became confused about what to do. If she continues to work in the organization, eventually her stomach will grow and they will question who the child is considering Amanda is not married.

And the man who was always with her was William. They will find out right away, and so will William. She was worried that William would ask her to abort the baby, even though the child was not the result of their love and only Amanda felt it, she did not want to kill the child.

With a heavy heart, Amanda made a decision that was very difficult and changed her whole life.

Leaving the organization for good.

After a week passed, making sure she was feeling better from nausea and so on. Amanda went to headquarters to see her boss. She would take care of her resignation that day.

She had thought about this very carefully, and this was the final decision she had. By leaving the organization, she could focus on taking care of her baby and also be away from William, because Amanda had already prepared for her move to a very far place. Just her and her baby.

Upon arriving at the headquarters, Amanda immediately met her superior in his room.

Knock knock

She knocked on the door of the boss's room, soon heard the voice of a man who allowed her to enter. Amanda opened the door and entered the room of her boss, the CEO of the organization.

"Agent A29, Amanda Sanchess. What brings you to see me this morning? We're still looking for the right person to be your partner to replace William," the man said.

Amanda placed an envelope on her boss's desk, near the table sign that read James Bradwell.

James glanced at the envelope and then looked back at one of his members. He asked what letter Amanda had just given him. The woman explained that it was her letter of resignation as an agent in the organization.

The man looked at Amanda in surprise, resigning so suddenly? She must have had a good reason for doing so.

"Tell me, two weeks ago you called me to ask for a new partner. Yet, now you want to resign? What's going on?"

"There's no good reason. It's just that... It's my final decision to start all over again..." Amanda replied as she touched her own stomach.

Understanding what Amanda was doing. The man closed his eyes for a moment. "Does he know about this?"

Amanda shook her head. "No, he doesn't know and never will. I don't want to ruin his dreams with this child. I will take care of this child myself. That's why... I am tendering my resignation."

James stood up from his chair and walked towards Amanda.

"Amanda... Do you remember our first meeting? Back then... You were a 15 year old girl. Your family was living in poverty. Then you came to me, asked me to take you to make you an agent, do you remember?"

"Yes, I remember very well. At that time I was helped a lot because you took me in and taught me many things. It was also because of you that my family's economy situation finally improved."

"That's right, at that time you learned very quickly and were good at mastering many things until you were finally appointed as an agent at a very young age..."

Amanda smiled at that. She was very grateful to James for teaching her so many things, taking care of her and being so attentive to her.

"That's because I think of you as my daughter. You make me very proud of you, and I'm sure your real parents do too."

"Thank you, Mr. James. I also think of you as my father. My family is very distant from me, and you are the one who is very close and cares for me. I will never forget your service." Amanda said with tears in her eyes.

James hugged Amanda and rubbed her head. "But maybe it's time to let you go. If this is your final decision, I'm sure you've thought it through,"

"Yes. I've already decided where I'm going after this. No one will find me. I hope..."

For James, it was hard to let go of Amanda who he had nurtured for so long to become the successful person she is today. But he respected Amanda's decision to retire early. He also let Amanda go.

Finally, Amanda asked James not to tell anyone about this. Including William or her family. Amanda didn't want to cause trouble if they found out.

He promised not to tell them. He told Amanda to take care of herself, if she needed anything, Amanda could contact him. The woman smiled and left James' room.

She went to her and William's room, she knew at that hour William must not have come. So she quickly tidied up her things before William arrived.

Amanda walked out of the headquarters and paused at the door. After 12 years of working as an agent, now she had to leave everything behind and would never return there again. All the memories at the base, she would never forget.

"Goodbye." She muttered and took off on her motorcycle.

On the way, she stopped the motorcycle and went to a pay phone to call her parents. Amanda felt she had to contact them at that moment.

"Yes, hello?"

"Hello, mom. It's me Amanda. How are you guys?" Amanda asked.

"Oh Amanda?! Wait a minute! Honeeeyy! Amanda's calling us!" Her mom exclaimed from the other end of the line. "We're fine. I'm so glad you called us. How are you, how's work, is everything okay?"

Amanda said everything was fine. Her work is going well and there are no obstacles, her life is also very good. She also heard that her mom and dad were scrambling to talk to her, which made Amanda laugh. She was happy to be able to contact her parents again after so long.

But perhaps, this would be the last time she would hear their voices again.

She couldn't tell her parents the truth that she was pregnant with a child. So she covered everything up and said everything was fine. She didn't want her parents to worry if they found out.

After some conversation, Amanda said goodbye as she would be very busy with her work.

"It's okay if you're busy. Mom and Dad just hope you'll be okay. We always want you to be healthy and happy over there. You've done a lot for us. Thank you, my daughter."

Hearing that, Amanda's lips trembled. Tears streaming from her eyes, she gripped the receiver tightly. She could not hear her parents' voices. She missed them so much but she couldn't see them both in that state.

"Yes, me too... Hope mom and dad will be okay. I love you both."

"We love you too, Amanda."
