Chapitre 41: Chapter 40 : Psychic Link

2 days after the death of the God Hephaestus...

The sun shone and it was a lovely day with the bright blue skies and the puffy white clouds up in the air. A perfect day, one could say.

Clashing, hitting and the sound of training on the grass could be heard outside of the village's tall walls.

Jinn and Kazumi both went up against Nova. Using only his blade and a couple of basic abilities alongside his physical attributes, he beat the two of them. Aza and Zankoku, even Atreus observed their fight, noting how Nova is quite strong.

"Azarielle, you've been taken to the Mirazora Facility?" Atreus asked, not knowing much about her after meeting her, but having some of the memories of Karoi and his old memories very slowly coming back.

The way he was revived from Karoi, arising from him, was because of the chain of experiments that the dead God of Wild performed, having implanted Loki's thoughts and logics into his own brain and hear his voice occasionally speak to him, telling him on what to do next.

After he died, the voice, because it's a consciousness, a vessel was required and therefore out of matter itself was brought back Atreus' old body.

She nodded, confirming it, adding on "They worked their magic there, literally."

"I understand. Any scars left over, trauma or memories of that day?"

"Yeah. A scar on my stomach and back, but no particular trauma and everything around the moments of getting stabbed is hazy."

Kazumi was flung in their direction, having them move as he hit the tree and bent it over, remaining sitting. Jinn activated a Speed Technique in order to try get the best of Nova.

Atreus took note of Nova's skills, seeing him as a remarkable warrior and just wondering what the number 1 young warrior would be like.

Nova has been training like crazy since Satoru left, discovering and learning multiple techniques at a quick rate. Not only due to his heritage but due to his energy training and godliness.

"Unfortunate, but luckily you have recovered in time for these 'Rank Up Exams' you all wish to participate in them. I've been instructed to apply as well, being accepted and now having to wait until they begin. Say, what will be going on in them?" he asked her.

Aza noticed that Jinn was perspiring against Nova who was constantly putting him on defense and breaking his guard.

"Hmm.." she said "First it's something like hide and seek with the last duo standing. The second is like a bracket tournament, each man for himself."

"Hm, I see. I've been asked by Zankoku and accepted to be his partner. Nova said he'll pair up with someone already. Those two also are going together, so who are you pairing up with?"

"He's not here. And it starts in a few days, so I may need to find a new duo." she said slightly disappointedly

Nova blocked Jinn's strikes and dropped him to the floor. Jinn surrendered and Nova helped him get up with the same expression he had during the entire course of their 'sparring match'.

"I'm pairing with my cousin Sasha" Nova said approaching them with beside Jinn. "She is training. Though for us, what's there to do these last 2 days except relax and await this exam."

All of them agreed with him, but Atreus found his words vaguely mischievous. Zankoku asked Kazumi how he's doing after what happened in Greenthorn a week ago.

"Fine." he said expressionlessly "Doesn't help having both my mother and father killed.. Luckily, my righteous uncle survived and is willing to teach me the ways of the clan. Aside from that, thanks for asking." his tone was both regular and saddened at the same time.

Changing the topic, they spoke about how their training is going and even went as far as to place bets on who will win. Nova, however, had his finger slightly twitch as he felt an extremely familiar presence, out of nowhere, like it was on purpose. He vanished from the burst of speed to where it was coming from.

Seeming unrecognizable, a cloaked figure walked into the village and in the burst of speed, Nova closed the distance, throwing a punch to the figure's face.

The figure caught his punch and they both smiled with the muscles around their mouths and proceeded to fist bump each other after.

"It's actually good to see you Satoru."

"You too Nova."

"The thing with Anubis, I wasn't in my right mind so forgive me about that."

"It's fine."

The two of them headed into the village, into the core of it.

"So.." Nova said "You growing out your hair or something?"

"Nah, just didn't have time to care about it. Oh yeah.. From what I heard, Karoi is dead?"

Nova nodded beside him and even though Satoru didn't see it he knew the answer.

An evil uncontrollable yet small grin formed as the white haired boy's expression "Good." he said to all that "Am I in time for the rank up trial thing?" he additionally asked.

"Yeah, everyone's been training and getting stronger. Say, Satoru... Greenthorn's Purge, were you there? I know that a storm is possible to come down out of nowhere in our world, but such destructive power-"

"It was me. No point in hiding it but do not tell the others. They do not need to know."

"Very well. Oh yeah, there's someone whose been interested on meeting you. It's a God."

Satoru's eyes instinctively widened and he immediately upped his guard, going to sense for the energy but unable to feel it as he doesn't know what or who's he looking for.

But for some reason, what he could sense was the new link he felt about 2 weeks ago feel stronger, closer.

He didn't yet know whose it was but intended to most definitely find out.

Nova brought Satoru over to the others and they greeted him, but Atreus stood out. He was the only one whom he didn't know, but the link however... The link was stronger than ever when they met each others gaze.

The moment he saw Aza, he vanished from his steps, not being seen by almost everyone, and appeared in front of her. "Are you okay?" he asked

"I'm am. Basically fully recovered. How did you know?" she asked him.

"I heard whilst I was on my assignment."

"Does she not remember what happened that night?"

"Oh, okay. And you? How are you?" she asked him back genuinely

He gazed at Atreus for a second who was giving off a 'I need to speak with you' look before answering "I'm fine. And who is that guy?"

"Atreus." the arisen God spoke "You must be Satoru, I've heard quite a bit about you."

"I see. nice to meet you, Atreus."

"The fuck? Atreus is the second name of the god Loki, could he be after me..?"

The two shook hands and were now formally introduced.

"Ra was here. When he left, he was looking for you." Nova said and Zankoku and Atreus confirmed it.

"Shit. Are they onto me."

"I need to learn more before deciding..."

"I see" Satoru said calmly "That's no problem."

Adding on, Nova mentioned about Ra's warnings, advice and how the fought him, complimenting his strength and that he won. After all, he was one of the fewer active Gods who to this day still trains and hones his abilities unlike the rest who had accepted the point they got to and decided to play it lazy.

"The mental HQ for Gods too, Zeus is taking over the Norse thunder god's spot. Your spot. All for power undoubtedly."

"That's troublesome, but I don't know how to access it."

"Me neither." quickly responded Nova, seeing how Kazumi, Jinn and Aza are individually fighting one another, basically a free for all sparring match.

Satoru approached Atreus and asked him directly about the psychic link and why he felt it until he shook his hand. "I don't know. Karoi's last wish perhaps." Atreus responded. "I've been wondering just how strong you are the way everyone here practically 'glazes' you."

"I wouldn't know, I'd say I'm somewhat strong."

Nova got closer to them : "He is, but I don't want to spar you before the exams. I'd like for us both to go all out there. I've grown quite stronger than we've met last, Satoru."

"Even if he did or didn't, he took out Hades before he was even a God, amplification or not. To underestimate him in a serious fight could and then would be deadly."

"I agree with you." Satoru said, putting his hands in his pockets and gazing at Aza's fighting style which was both offensive and defensive.

"No way.." Zankoku said, looking at him then approximating where he's looking at "You like her or something?"

Atreus and Nova looked at Satoru, wondering the same thing.

He looked left and right in their faces, rolling his eyes and saying : "Nah, just observing her fighting style."

"Mhm.."

"What about you and that girl in from school? Yui was it?"

Zankoku was silent and stared at Satoru.

Atreus chuckled a little and Nova withheld his laugh, whilst Satoru told him that he's actually got to unpack and do something and that he'll see them later.
